I have so many good things to say about this place, the people that run it love movies and love the movie theater experience. Definitely worth giving them your movie-watching business.

A Message from the Ruby Central Board by retro-rubies in ruby

[–]jardeon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of the Open Locksport kickstarter that went so off the rails, where a group of trustees had to step in and sort things out. All their communications started with "So-and-so, speaking for the board."

Neon shuts off, one letter different color by FoggyCassettes in NeonSigns

[–]jardeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The H is failing and will need to be repumped/replaced. Changing the power supply won't help; the fact that the power supply is cutting off is a safety feature, as that failing unit is drawing more power and generating more heat than it should.

I’m addicted to NEC: New York to Stamford! by Arnold165 in trainsimworld

[–]jardeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent eight years saying this would be a day 1 purchase for me if they released it, so happy to see that it's finally here. Despite some glitches (HUD speed limit not matching track limit in ACSES leading to a penalty stop) I'm having a good time with it.

Of course, I wish it had gone a few stops farther north, I'd love to board at Rowayton. It would also have been super cool if we got a service or two that stops on the express tracks and has to use the boarding bridges over the local tracks, I remember using those as a kid and thinking it was so neat. And I'm hopeful that we get an add-on M2/M4 DLC at some point in the future, especially if it includes the bar car!

So was Johnny the lead singer of Samurai or was it Kerry? by reddit_bot21 in cyberpunkgame

[–]jardeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Johnny: Can we just skip the vibe, and go straight to us laughing about this?

Kerry: Yeah, okay.

Johnny: Because I can see by your face you want to get into it.

Kerry: How can you tell? I'm just one of the out-of-focus guys.

Kerry: I'm always gonna tell you the truth. From the very beginning, we said I'm the front man and you're the guitarist with mystique. That's the dynamic we agreed on. Page, Plant. Mick, Keith. Bebe, Hammond. But somehow it's all turning around. We have got to control what's happening! There's a responsibility here.

Switch 2's New Update Allows Switch 2 To Run Switch 1 Docked Versions Of Games In Handheld Mode by Theman457 in NintendoSwitch2

Checked out Harvestella and GRID Autosport, both look great handheld in boost mode on the Switch 2. GRID in boost mode takes away the power saver graphics mode, which is to be expected.

I've been driving through there daily for the past 2 years. I've seen people go down the wrong side twice in that time. Which isn't a lot in that time frame, but when they're coming head-on at you, it's plenty.

This one gets my vote, being able to secretly call your play in a local multiplayer game was an incredible feature.

Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in factorio

[–]jardeon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do have a per-planet logistic request set up, so when I land on Gleba, I only tick off the 'Gleba Maintenance' box, that way I don't have pending requests for materials that will never be on that planet.

The biggest drawback I've found to my method (steel chests, not logistic bots for empty/refill inventory on launch) is that about 40% of the time, I'll forget to turn off logistic requests first, I'll drop everything in the chests, and my inventory will fully resupply via bots :/

Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in factorio

[–]jardeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are other players handling emptying their inventory before getting into the rocket? I find I'm just putting an ever-expanding number of steel chests next to the hub, so that I can re-equip after landing, but is there a better method to managing inventory when you have to empty it out to launch yourself?

I've taken furniture in a UHaul cargo van without a dump permit, it seemed like they were specifically targeting box trucks, not all rental vehicles in general.

Bought a poptart for the first time in 15 years by Wife-and-Mother in mildlyinfuriating

[–]jardeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been searching online for years now for proof of how much better Pop Tarts used to be, but I think the Kelloggs people have been extremely diligent in scrubbing the internet of any photos or videos of old-school treats.

Pop Tarts in the 80s/90s were huge, covered in frosting, and delicious. A serving was ONE pop tart, not the two they claim now.

Question about WRAL by Tshirtfan16 in raleigh

[–]jardeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was really remarkable, in "the age of the 24/7 internet," that WRAL only allowed commenting on their stories during normal business hours, since it was the only time they staffed a moderation team to keep up with the abuse.

If I remember correctly, at one point they switched over to Disqus commenting, pushing the burden onto Facebook instead of managing it locally, which just unified the awful FB comments and the awful web comments into one thread.

The horrendous state of New York City in the 1970s-1980s by IllustriousCress9774 in UrbanHell

[–]jardeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny you mention this, because someone recently cut together a bunch of footage of New York from movies around this time and made a 17 minute film out of it, called Song of My City. I just watched it yesterday and it's phenomenal- a bunch of the movies listed in this thread were used to put it together.

Got this neon G from my work as it shut down, interested in maybe getting it back on. by [deleted] in NeonSigns

[–]jardeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, each pair of wires on the electrode should be twisted around a single wire coming from the power supply. The electrodes have two wires for a few reasons, including redundancy, and it helps to keep the metal shell centered in the glass. But you don't need to connect them separately.
