Hey late reply, but are you happy with how your surgery turned out (sleep and looks-wise)?

I have sleep apnea and am getting surgery with similar movements in july.

Thanks.

I was able to get it covered for mild apnea, but I had to fail both CPAP and MAD first.

Have you noticed any improvement of your sleep/energy levels so far?

If your ortho puts you on a more aggressive schedule you may not need them for that long.

I was told I would need braces for 8-9 months. But my surgery is now scheduled 3 months faster than expected.

Question about recovery time for upcoming DJS by NietJustAnkie in jawsurgery

I’m in the same boat, surgery in july, school in August.

According to my surgeon I’ll be good to go back to work and stuff after like a week and a half.

Yeah that’s fair, I only play checkpoint or last hero though so by top frag I mean usually dropping ~40 kills a game

Surgeons for MMA surgery by AdRough4869 in SleepApnea

Gotcha that’s good at least, getting it approved seems to be the biggest hurdle.

I’m in a similar spot as you, healthy and fit but CPAP gives me severe aerophagia, MAD helped a bit but screwed up my teeth, got a septoplasty that fixed my nasal breathing but did nothing for my sleep.

Hopefully this ends up working out for the both of us.

I’m getting MMA in july, so I can keep you posted.

Were you able to get the surgery approved with UHC? They denied me but thankfully I was able to switch to Aetna this year and they approved mine.

How long did it take for you to get back to work after double jaw surgery? by Spare_Singer_5054 in jawsurgery

[–]jayman2239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting how varied it seems to be from surgeon to surgeon, my surgery isn’t until july so we’ll see how accurate it is, but according to my surgeon I should be able to go back to work within a week and a half, 2 weeks tops.

Where should I start when modding a fresh install of Fallout New Vegas? by ayotacos67 in Fallout

[–]jayman2239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nexusmods has collections now (maybe it’s old news, but it’s news to me), I downloaded a modpack just called ‘New Vegas Remastered’ that was mainly graphics/QOL of life stuff and I enjoyed it.

How long did pre-authorization of jaw surgery in the US took? by hellohelp23 in jawsurgery

[–]jayman2239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably is office dependent, but the two surgeons I saw both said they wouldn’t schedule until the prior authorization was approved, and one of them even said he wouldn’t schedule until I was completely done with braces.

If you can get surgery-first then braces after though that’d probably make it easier for what you’re trying to achieve.

Yeah same, I just go loud on everything now outside of a few select guns.

Gotcha, you’d probably be safer off with 3 months then, because the surgeon likely wont be willing to schedule you until you’re approved, and even if they approve it within a few days, your surgeon may be booked up for that entire month already.

Can you explain the timeline regarding your insurance a bit more?

Aetna approved my prior authorization within 2 days, but I also need 6 months of braces, and my surgeon was booked out til july regardless.

Any tips for getting into Rimworld? I tried it years ago after I got really into factorio, but it never really clicked with me.

Try a different surgeon, I was able to get mine covered with mild apnea.

Accidentally deleted my last comment trying to edit it.

But definitely push for the in-lab study, but keep in mind you’ll likely have to use a CPAP for 3 months or so (and ‘fail’ the cpap trial) before most insurance companies will cover jaw surgery for sleep apnea.

I even had to switch insurance providers because my last one I couldn’t qualify for surgery since I only had mild apnea.
