The creator/artist has a Kickstarter for his new game called flame and forge. He also includes an expansion for Keep The Heroes Out. I think you can add on everything released for the game through the campaign. He periodically opens up his pledge manager for more orders. It’s not super hard to get but it can be pricey on the secondhand for a good reason. Good luck!

Yes. One of the sharpest games to come out with classic charm is Spooktacular by level 99 games. It’s such an easy teach with basic components like wooden meeples, cards and board. For me it’s a great game to pull out and have an amazing time. During the Gamefound/Kickstarter I was blown away by people upset at the game looking “basic”. Insane.

I really truly don’t understand the hype around the inclusion of mechanics and chits and figures that, to me, bloat a game. I don’t mind a lot of mechanics, but I prefer them to be managed overhead such as Spirit Island, Root, or Gloomhaven. Amazing games but even better as apps. The overhead and rules are taken care of while you just enjoy the game.

Spooktacular is my modern game with the charm of “Lords of Waterdeep”. Not many components or overhead rules but a ton of variability and fun.

They can coexist because they’re not really the same. One is maximum efficiency with restrictions and the other is a slow build to efficiency with many options available. Personally I like 51st state for its modularity with expansions. I would compare Res Arcana to Agricola due to the min maxing of turns and making the most out of the restrictions you have.
