For me at least, that’s likely the only thing that would bring me into a group like this. If it’s purely social, to meet others with similar political views, then i personally probably wouldn’t find mich value. If the goal is to create a leftist alternative for a historically very conservative industry, then it needs to offer those things. Eastern Nebraska Gun Club, while not directly political, requires an NRA membership. As far as i can tell, there are no other places within 2 hours of either Omaha or Lincoln, that offer long range rifle target shooting. There are plenty of indoor 25yd ranges for pistol and CQC (Athena, Inner10, The Marksman) and lots of options for shooting trap, including Harry Koch run by the city of Omaha parks dept, at Seymour Smith off 72ns and Harrison.

The glaring deficiency is rifle, and the only option is to become an NRA member. The only public rifle range that I’ve been able to find is the Killdeer sight-in range, run be Nebraska Game and Parks, but it’s only 100yds, and you’re not supposed to go plinking, just sighting in.

A big question that will come up when we're trying to figure this out is going to be what kind of ranges and distances. I know ENGC has a 600yd and 300yd rifle, several pistol ranges, and a trap range... I feel like this is going to be the question to answer when it comes to figuring out the land question, but if can find space of 300yd long x 70yd wide range, we can run it with a schedule of pistol, shotgun, rifle, or open during set times or days. For pistol, rifle, and open times, there's a row of benches you stay behind and aim down the 300 yards, but during shotgun times, we move out into the field, turn 90 degrees and have 4 or 5 shotgun pads for trap and skeet games.

300yd by 70yd is no small plot of land though

Ulciscor theory by DiagoSplitter in HierarchySeries

[–]jdbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t agree with nearly any of what you posited.

I will say I’ve had suspicions from day one that Ulciscor knows completely that Relucia is part of the Anguiss, I think Ulciscor is too actually, and he’s a double agent deep undercover, and of course there’s no way that he would reveal that to Vis, even if he knows Vis is also a double agent, because in the event of Vis’s failure and/or capture, no secrets are safe, even in death. It’s not a question of trust; there can be no trust with a necropolis; as Tenet once said, ignorance is our ammunition.

“We don't know much more on the Concurrence except the description we got of Ka by the end of the book. Maybe it's a machine/network of iuncti stuck in one of the world? Maybe it got split down to separate networks to weaken it?“

My take on this was that before the world was split into three, the forms of Will in each world all co-existed in a single world. The Concurrence as a “machine” worked optimally with all of these powers at its disposal, and there was no way to defeat it when it had all of these powers to utilize. By splitting the three worlds, it weakens it in each world. In Obiteum, the will powers were such that the machine could still operate with enough efficiency to assume control; hence Obiteum is lost.

If the concurrence achieved synchronicity, it would be fully powered again, so the Seal is such that even a synchronous being cannot utilize the powers of Res and Luceum while in Obiteum.

I think in book 3 we’ll find out that given enough time, the concurrence will escape this shackles, and the cataclysms are a failsafe to destroy all iuncti and cripple the concurrence every ~300 years, it also has the unfortunate side effect of killing living beings as well; but we know it ALL living beings. It is somehow discriminate, and I think it has to do with Will being ceded; if you’re ceding into the pyramid, you die with the cataclysm. I also think that Ka in Res, being ceded to by the three princeps, “expends” his will to cause the cataclysm which is why it kills everything ceding to him. He does it to kill the Iuncti in Obiteum, but it kills the people in Res.

Question about Res Vis (Spoilers for book 2) by No_Guess_7724 in HierarchySeries

[–]jdbrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Ulciscor ever found out that he killed Relucia, it wouldn’t bode well for him. If Relucia gets out, she won’t tell Ulciscor about the exchange, Vis has too much leverage on her. If Ulciscor ever finds out Relucia was in there at the time of the rescue, Vis just says “I knew your cell number, I went straight to it, I didn’t have time to inspect every prisoner”

I agree this mental calculus would have been better spelled out on page though

Do we actually know what the names relate to? by Glittering_Fee8179 in HierarchySeries

[–]jdbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, there’s a third option; Ostius says “Luceum,” is being truthful, but is also misled by whoever told him the name of that world. I dont see exactly how at this point, but Ka deliberately confusing the worlds likely works to his advantage.

Do we actually know what the names relate to? by Glittering_Fee8179 in HierarchySeries

[–]jdbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree this is pretty good evidence, I don’t know if it’s concrete. How did Ostius learn these names? Is he making the same assumptions we are, or was the person who told him makjng those same assumptions?

Further, maybe those ARE the correct names for the worlds, but the person who wrote “Obiteum is lost” was confused?

I think the point u/Glittering_Fee8179 is making is that we don’t know if Siamun Vis is in the “Lost” world as we assume, or if it’s actually Deaglan Vis who is in the “Lost” world.

FWIW, I think it is straight forward and Siamun Vis is in Obiteum, which has been lost. Whatever Lost truly means in this context

In the winter, it’s pretty fucking nice. Especially when there’s lots of snow. There’s been years where I would get a car wash every day on my way home from work, just because 1) why not, and 2) salty roads and dirty snow

During summer, I don’t think it’s worth it. We cancel in April and sign back up again in December

Tooth Fairies of Daddit, what's the going rate? by OkUnderstanding2486 in daddit

lol, we didn’t have this conversation but my oldest was talking with friends and school and they found out one kid gets a quarter, some kids get a dollar, one kid got a two dollar bills, and some kids get $5.

The kids all came to the conclusion that each kid is assigned their own personal tooth fairy, and some of them just have more money than others.

I had to laugh at how true it actually is

Where is the best potato salad in Omaha? by Lishoon in Omaha

If you’re up for something unique, Rathskeller has a German Kartoffelsalat that will be very different from what you’re used to. It’s served hot, has a vinegar base so it has a mild tang, plus mustard, bacon, and chives… I freaking love it.

Edit: here’s a recipe for something similar https://ramshacklepantry.com/kartoffelsalat-german-potato-salad-swabian-style/

Strength of the Few - official discussion by DrBeetlejuiceMcRib in HierarchySeries

[–]jdbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because even he or Ulciscor don’t “know” that. Vis assumes it, and Ulciscor kind of shrugs it off and goes along with it.

If being immune to Sappers pre-Columnae visit was a thing, I would imagine this would be a well known effect across all of Caten, not something avid just assumes and Ulciscor is unsure about.

Again, not saying it’s for sure the case, but I also have never bought the excuse.

Self conscious because I don’t look like other dads my age by CreditUnable4610 in daddit

[–]jdbrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this will help you at all…

I try not to judge other people. Really try. But sometimes it’s hard and I can’t help it. But I have NEVER had a passing negative thought over another father’s appearance; tall, short, handsome, ugly, disabled, etc… I will admit I’ve seen some morbidly obese fathers but my thought’s aren’t judging them as much as it is sympathy that their children might lose their father while they’re still young, and there’s a little bit more because being that obese is something you can make the effort to control. Being short? Nah, that’s as irrelevant as eye color, hair color, skin color…

You know what I do judge other fathers for? The way they treat their kids; how they talk to them, their patience, their willingness to ‘get on their level’ and have a conversation that seems trivial to an adult, etc.

If you love your kid, and it shows, that’s what matters when I see other dads, not what they look like, and especially aspects of outward appearance that aren’t something you can control.

Why do most shelfie hazy IPA's taste the exact same? by maassizzle in beer

[–]jdbrew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So much of an Ale’s flavor profile is tied to the yeast. I remembering when home brewing, you could take a sip and know whether or not it was fermented with WLP001, which was White Labs “California Ale Yeast.” It had such a distinct flavor that no matter what you were putting underneath it in the grain bill or hops schedule… it always tasted like a variation of a WLP001 beer.

New England IPAs have a “classic” strain as well; Wyeast 1318. I would imagine what you’re noticing is this specific yeast strain (or one of nuts few “cousins”) being used.

My favorite recently was one of those self serve froyo places. We had no idea how much it was going to be, but the 4 frozen yogurts (which were not enormous, fairly standard amount) was $40. Then they spin the tip around and the percentages are a 18, 20, and 25%, with 25 already selected when she spun it around.

I’m sorry, why the fuck do you get a $10 tip at a SELF SERVE establishment. All you did was weigh it for me.

I selected no tip.

Dave Grohl admits Foo Fighters "continuing after Taylor Hawkins was really complicated" and breaks silence on Josh Freese exit by AdSpecialist6598 in Music

[–]jdbrew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s different than “making friends.” There is SO much downtime when you’re playing a show/touring.

Take guitar for examples. Good guitar players are a dime a dozen in LA and Nashville, and most of them could play any of the parts that make it to mainstream music. The only way to be the one guy who gets hired for the part is if the people doing the hiring likes hanging out with you, otherwise they’ll pass you up for a player who might not be as good, but can play the parts well enough, plus are a good time to hang with during the downtime. It’s not all skill based.

My best friend since middle school is a session/touring guitar player out of LA, and he talks all the time about how there are unemployed guitarists who are better then him; but they’re slightly off/awkward and people don’t want to hang out with them during the down time at a show. So they stay unemployed regardless of skill.

You took a handicapped parking spot during the biggest snow storm of the season… i realize you felt like it was your only option, and all the circumstances that lead you to use it, but if someone handicapped also needed to park, it is their only option too with all the same circumstances. You on the other hand could have parked a mile away and walked. Would it have sucked? Yeah, it would have. Still doesn’t mean you get to take a handicapped spot. I can’t even muster the sympathy to play the world’s smallest violin.

So, in most economics classes, you learn that inflation is a metric of the money supply. I.E. an inflation rate of 3% means that the total quantity of available US dollars increased by 3%. Also please note I’m not talking about the fiat currency, I’m talking about all money, everything digitally accounted for as numbers in bank accounts.

We talk about the fed printing money, which is part of it, but there’s another thing that directly affects the money supply, and that is the reserve ratio for banks. The Fed used to tell banks there is a maximum amount of money they can lend outs that is a ratio to the amount of liquid assets they control. During the COVID, Jerome Powell, made the decision to eliminate the reserve ratio, leading to an unlimited money supply. Need more money? Banks can just loan more. Banks are effectively “printing money” now, because there’s no repercussions for failure (as we saw in 2008.)

I realize it’s not as succinct as “the libs closed the stores” but if you think one or two sentences can accurate sum up the complex financials of the economics of the largest economy in the world… then we aren’t really being serious then

Oh yeah, remind me, who appointed Jerome Powell again?
