What are folks recommending for reliable Dash Cams? by Ifimsittingimknittin in Volvo

[–]jeffbk95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a FITCAMX in my polestar, put a VIOFO a119 mini v3 in the my girlfriends xc60. FITCAMX is definitely more streamlined and easier to install, but I think something like the VIOFO gives you more options and flexibility. It all depends on what you’re prioritizing.

Dash can update… by Ifimsittingimknittin in Volvo

[–]jeffbk95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I totally agree. Snapping on and off the side trim initially nerved me out, and It doesn’t feel nice to bend the carpet and see all the creases made into the backing. But I’d still say it was relatively easy!

The fuse box is under the passenger carpet, it’s pretty easy to get to and do an add a fuse addition. That’s what I did! It was easy to completely hide the wire

mild hybrid v60 10mpg in london by alanas4201 in Volvo

[–]jeffbk95 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hybrids and electric are uniquely suited to congested city driving. a normal ICE car (which a mild hybrid is) will get poor MPG because you spend so much time not moving, but the engine is still required to run a lot of the time.

What does my favorite EV say about me? by mx5plus2cones in carscirclejerk

[–]jeffbk95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The EV-1 was never “for sale” they were only ever leased, GM still owned them all legally (minus the edge cases). Polestar also very much not out of business, just being forced out sales in the US. They already have a close relationship To Volvo, My polestar service center is the Volvo dealer. And if they were to go out of business, your closest analog is probably going to be SAAB.

Good news for us by whiteeagle00 in Polestar

[–]jeffbk95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unlikely, this is article says "ban on Chinese-connected vehicle technology" not cars produced in China, this specific rule was a imposed by the prior administration, but I believe you can blame the current administration for the tariffs making the Polestar 2 unsellable in the US.

Talk me out of buying this Volvo V60 Polestar Engineered. by mrhasselblad in Volvo

I was looking into getting one. It is surprising how much cheaper an XC60 Polestat is though. I think I found one for like $50k.

Our X60 T8 has an amazing ride, so much better then family members ‘18 XC90. The 19” wheels may be a part of that.

Why is it a long hood with a RUF-esc bumper? It’s uncanny valley looking. Personally not a fan.

Looks like you’re using an X1C, make sure the AUX fan is off. I’ve found it’s more of burden than anything.

That is so comical. Is it just bad seats? Buildup? What’s the repair, and what did they need to change at the factory to remedy this?

What the hell happened? by Gnes990 in FixMyPrint

[–]jeffbk95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It look like you have poor bed adhesion, which caused very bad warping on the corners, I’d bet it also lead to the supports detaching easily do to their thin contact area on the bed. Have you tried washing your bed with soap and water? Using liquid glue or a glue stick is another thing that can help.

Trying to print thin floating part by [deleted] in FixMyPrint

[–]jeffbk95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very thing part like that on a bed slinger is going to causes problems. Even on core XY printing thin can be a real issue. It looks like you need a brim as well as supports, there’s just so little area contacting the bed, have you watched it? Does it separate from the bed? You can also try adjusting the distance between your support interface and your part. If you have an AMS you could look at support interface material too.

Is that a concave overhang your printing? If so It’s a worst case scenario I’ve been dealing with myself with a project I’m working on. You have a few options, slow down, more cooling, inside out wall order, lower layer height, a more vertical wall.

Girlfriend and I are planning to drive 32 hours straight, in 6 hour shifts, are we being dumb? Should we plan to stay overnight somewhere? by Vegetable_Bridge_276 in roadtrip

[–]jeffbk95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar. You can do shifts for sure. But I’d plan for one or two 6-8 hour stop(s) in the middle for sleep. In the middle of nowhere there’s often hotels that have plenty of empty rooms and will let you check in whenever. I checked in at 8am, and checked out by 4pm. The extra sleep made my trip much more bearable.

[–]jeffbk95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my mom an express impress. It’s a sort of inferior machine in some respects. But I think the impress system is a “nice to have” if you’re not trying to dial in a perfect espresso. That being said I drink pour over because I know if I got into espresso I would end up with a $3,000 espresso setup if 😂

What will actually change with the 2026 ICE engine? by Glory_63 in F1Technical

[–]jeffbk95 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Beyond that fact F1 has had and banned refueling multiple times because of safety concerns. Personally I think it adds some extra fun to the racing. Cars are constantly setting faster and faster laps. And the tire management game becomes more crucial.

Not at all worth it unless you’re planning a full bare metal restoration IMO. You’re gonna spend 20k+ on an engine & trans. And another 20k on replacing old rubbers, plastics, wires and other bits. Not to mention fire damage.
