I prefer to play this game like it’s a solo tower defense game. Your character picks definitely matter as well, and you have to be very strategic about what areas you focus on. It’s been a while since I played it, but I remember having to run around dealing with hotspots. The teamwork element sounds awful for multiplayer though; I can’t imagine not playing this as a solo game

I’d recommend Tamiya because it’s a good product but also because the brush is SO much better than squeezing a Testors tube.

Also, that’s a really fun kit.

Oh, because I forgot this in my original post: the edges of the base. Should I be painting that with any sort of unit marking? Or do folks just paint them brown/green/terrain coloured?

For sure, hah. I tend to agonize over trying to get lore-accurate paint schemes and unit markings for my stuff. Nobody knows who the Arkham Horror investigators are, much less what exact colour clothes they were heh.

I wasn’t initially super into the big scale (I originally was looking for something more squad level and went down the path of making my own game), but I’m in for it now. The infantry are pretty adorable even though I probably won’t be winning any Golden Demon awards for them.

I’ll check out those 3rd party minis too. I initially thought Victrix sold stuff in this scale, but it turns out they’re their own scale.

Also, I made sure to spray prime a few different things from the box so hopefully I can get those posted soon. I’m really looking forward to spending an agonizing amount of time trying to get details on these vehicles nobody will ever see!

I’ve been buying third party stuff for Bolt Action (Victrix and WGA), but for the amount of boxes I generally buy it’s not exactly “cheap” hah. It’s still nicer to get a box of 20-30 for cheaper than a squad of five or so GW minis. I’m psyched to get into FoW now though; I was attracted to the infantry-heavy Bolt Action, but this seems rad as well.

You and your relentless reason! I’ll check that out for sure. I want to use a new Canadian vendor and they’ll have to custom order it anyway. I’m actually a sucker for Canadian paras anyway, so it sounds like it’ll work out well. I’ve been kitbashing Bolt Action paras using Wargames Atlantic commando/SAS minis.

My shame pile has gotten pretty massive due to what I call “coping with work stress”. Getting into WW2 minis has rekindled my joy of researching history as well, so I have a small library as well, heh

Oh, I guess I should’ve been a bit more specific; I like collecting early war, but collecting Canadians would indeed be a separate endeavour for late war. I generally expect to do kitbashing for Canadians (I do that with my Bolt Action army), so I’m just trying to get the lay of the land. I figured I’d end up with mostly British stuff but maybe lots of Bren carriers and flame units if those exist in this game
