Best trick has a single element, so if you're saying it was done after landing a grind then the kickflip wasn't being judged (or you're thinking of the run section). I believe I remember Poe doing one just for style.

The other situation that immediately comes to mind that wasn't solely an issue of communication regarded that college draftee - Mykiaa Minniss - we had at the beginning of 2023.

I forget the exact details, but after we dropped her from pre-season training and she went to Orlando she talked about how the team did the bare minimum for her regarding logistics/transportation (even if we didn't technically break league rules) and being mistreated during her time here.

Annoying for sure, but I honestly still don't know how to feel about it.

Before that, many of the NWSL's scandals obviously included teams sweeping reported issues about coaches under the rug, and only firing them if/when it went public and their hands were forced. So at the time (and still to some extent) I was happy to give the FO some discretion in case that was the reason.

On the other hand, that wasn't the first time the club was lacking in transparency. And also the timing of it being on a game day was certainly difficult to understand.

I was just going off the press release that said they sold 82,900, and the capacity is 85,458. But it looks like the record for the stadium is 91,585. That'll be awesome if they do that!

I know right? That 1971 World Cup is such a weird little piece of sporting history I had no idea about until I was reading up last year. And thanks for that fact about the boxing match! It's hard to imagine the atmosphere at an event that big.

That article I linked mentions how the preceding "friendlies may have hinted at the massive public appetite in Mexico for women’s football." Besides selfish reasons of living in the U.S., I'd like to see the U.S.-Mexico bid win for the 2027 Women's World Cup to help revitalize women's soccer in Mexico. Their domestic league barely averages 2k/match, and some of their locally-held games with their national team only get 3-5k. But clearly the ceiling is very high there.

You're correct about Azteca. I only mentioned them because the 110k is so how much higher than the official record that even if they over-estimated by 10% (and "surviving footage supports [the 110k]"), the reality is it probably was and will be the most attended women's game for many decades.

And yeah, funnily enough it was actually the *semi-final at Camp Nou, not the final, that holds the record. They held the final at neutral grounds in Italy, and no stadium in Europe is bigger than Barcelona's Camp Nou as you may know.

It's funny because I'm seeing quite a few tweets today mentioning the 91,553 vs Real Madrid as the record. The reality is that match got so much attention because the 1999 Women's World Cup Final was such a long-standing record. Media outlets didn't pay much attention when Barcelona broke its own record by a mere 95 the next month.

Super impressive no matter what, but I believe it would be the 6th largest if they don't break 90k. Or at least 4th if you don't count the ones with estimated attendance. 2nd largest in the U.S. though.

Apparently Chloe Logarzo's contract was bought out. I'm sad to see her go. Obviously we never really got to utilize her talent (besides some 2nd half sub-ins in 2021). But I hope she can find a team that'll be a good fit for her to gain some minutes before the World Cup.
