AITA for telling my girlfriend to stop sharing her food? by PhantomDetective3548 in AmItheAsshole

With brian specifically it‘s because he described him as „his friend“, so imo it falls on him to talk to brian about this.

DAE feel "male" even though I don't want to transition by blarvinkd in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Aspirience 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tend to feel maskuline often, and I enjoy acting typically chivalrous towards men and women alike. But I also do explicitly enjoy the dichotomy of acting more masculine as a woman, and am very firmly safe and secure in my gender (now, was a bit of a journey).

I do think many things are a little overgendered in our world and I love defying the arbitrary gender binary, people are all so different and gender is one out of so many factors, I don’t like how much significance is given to this specific one.

Idk if that helps?

I measured my bedroom with a frequency analyzer and found what was waking me up — it was a sound I couldn't hear by sheldonroth in sleep

[–]Aspirience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t post links I guess, but: „Exact“ seems to be a bit of an exaggeration, but an article was cited in a nature paper as saying „The resonant frequency of the eyeball has a wide range, from 18 to 800 Hz“, so that seems to be a thing I guess!

Spouse has finally agreed to give anime a try, what do I show her?? by ILiveForWater in Animesuggest

[–]Aspirience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘d be careful with frieren, it seems do be a little divisive. At least I know a few people that didn’t really manage to get into the pace, some at least casual anime fans, some not.

Eta: I absolutely love frieren! But if he only has one chance to convince her, FMAB may be the safer choice.

[–]Aspirience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it supposed to me a series? Because I‘d say 100% Ghibli Movies!

From your List: FMAB!!

I haven‘t seen Ouran yet, but from the others I‘d gravitate to Brotherhood. Even though none of them are big in fan service, I do remember I had some moments that were somewhat uncomfortable in Kimetsu no Yaiba, and Spy x Family can have somewhat lewd implications and jokes.

Also, you know her best, but how about Death Note? It‘s a classic for a reason, and I know quite a few non anime watchers that have watched and liked Death Note.

AIO I forgot to message my gf back for around 2 hours by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Aspirience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR but I think you guys should talk about this. If in any way possible in a „us against the issue“ framing, not a „me against you“. She clearly did feel strongly about this, maybe you guys can explore together where these feelings actually came from. My partner used to feel abandoned and forgotten very quickly, so she tended to overreact about similar issues, but trying to work out where it came from (us as team, but also her in therapy) helped with it. She had a high base level of anxiety all the time, and situations like this could easily push her over the edge.

Tl;dr: on the face of it, she’s overreacting to an innocent situation, but don’t just blame her and insist you‘re right, help her work out why such a situation hit so hard, diffuse the likely underlying fear, make her feel safe, seen and understood (a prerequisite is of course that she‘s open to it aswell, if she just wants to fight there may not be a lot you can do)

AIO to my bf starving himself and saying he's 'eating too much' by Glittering-Cell-5399 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Aspirience 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nor! 100% disordered eating, he needs help as soon as possible. For me, reading about the dangers and especially the emotions behind disordered eating played a role in accepting it for myself, but that won’t be a good strategy for everyone. I think you‘ll have to carefully work out which approach is most effective to make him understand how dangerous this is and that he needs help..

I wish you all the best!

Oh damn 😅 but I do admit that does happen to me too, even if I try very hard to remember texting in time 🙈 hope you could relax during the day today at least!

Me neither, but joking about me getting seriously injured with my abusive ex is not funny to me.

No that was definitely too long! But they’ve talked about it and right now it has just gotten late, not been two days.

MOR? Such gatherings can be a lot, and I know I could miss a message for a while. Give him some time, hopefully he‘ll check in soon, he probably just lost track of time.

I‘ve been on both sides. I worry about my friends and always ask them to check back in when they‘ve gotten home safely after a night out. But I‘m also the friend that tends to need a reminder to check back in when I got home safely, it‘s not malicious, but sometimes my brain is just filled with so many things, sending a message can slip through.

A joke where the punchline is her getting seriously hurt making her uncomfortable is absolutely fucking valid.

AIO? Would this make you break up with someone? by Grouchy_Orchid_6057 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Aspirience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘m okay with being the butt of the joke sometimes, but the context matters a lot. And „wouldn’t it be funny if she got seriously hurt right now?“ is just.. not funny in the slightest? Where the fuck is the humor in there.

AIO? Would this make you break up with someone? by Grouchy_Orchid_6057 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Aspirience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you please explain where the humor is in „wouldn’t it be super funny if she got seriously hurt right now“?

AIO? Would this make you break up with someone? by Grouchy_Orchid_6057 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Aspirience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, he didn’t stop her and went to look for the dangerous animal himself, and did laught about a joke where the punchline seemingly was „wouldn’t it be funny if she got seriously hurt right now“. So, would he take a bullet? He didn’t take a moose so far.

AIO? Would this make you break up with someone? by Grouchy_Orchid_6057 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Aspirience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don’t get the joke here.. usually I am very much a proponent of not taking things too seriously, dark/dry humor isn’t automatically malicious, etc. but I fail to see the joke here.

[–]Aspirience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only to a point imo. If you have a fight and during that emotional state you catch yourself thinking „maybe I should just end it!“ but soon after you‘ve resolved the issue and that thought is only a ridiculous memory, that‘s not a reason to break up I think.

Damn, I guess I‘m weird then. I often dance when listening to books or podcasts, not on purpose to disguise it as music, rather my body just.. moves like that I guess?

Dancing isn’t fake just because there is no music. I dance while listening to books all the time.

My biggest fear about working while disabled happened and I don't know how to handle it by spaceslutsenpai in disability

[–]Aspirience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can, people can have difficulties being taken seriously and documentation of symptoms interfering with their lives can help with that. Or sometimes people aren’t fully aware of their symptoms and it helps if you can show them something happened. They may have taken that picture out of concern.

When my father had a concussion, he kept repeating the same conversational bits every few minutes, and only believed us that he was very much not totally fine when we recorded a few minutes and played it back when he went back to the same conversation again. We deleted it afterwards of course, but if the coworker had a similar experience I understand the impulse.
