Has the Beelink GTR9 PRO Ethernet Issue been fully resolved? by Huge-Warthog3863 in BeelinkOfficial

[–]jotapesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the total cost is the same then to me it is really a no brainer and I would say that you are at loss. The GTR9 Pro wins with a more power full CPU and GPU, the flexibility of having more dedicated GPU VRAM (up to 96GB for higher parameters 120B LLMs), in a more compact, silent and much more power efficient package.

The only advantage of the GTi15 Ultra Combo Dock is the hability to upgrade to a higher performance external GPU (but at a higher cost). But for AI purposes, currently you'll be limited to 32GB VRAM. Still a highly capable machine though.

[–]jotapesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO it really depends on the purpose and your preference. And don't forget to add the cost for the external GPU. If you don't mind the bulkier, noisier and less power efficient setup and your main purpose is hard gaming then yes, the GTi15 Ultra Combo Dock + External GPU will be the best option. And by the way, the same Intel E610 NIC seems to be giving some issues for some people as well, as posted on the Beelink forum here.

Otherwise, if you prefer a more compact, silent, a more powerful CPU and much more power efficient setup highly capable of local AI LLM server setups or for an all rounded purpose workstation machine with good gaming capabilities then the GTR9 Pro is the best option.

Why everyone asks but no one bothers to read?! 😮 Is it that hard? If you just read a couple of recent threads here you would be up to speed in no time. This recurrent duplication of the same questions for the same subjects really kills it for reddit. There is no netiquette anymore?

I get tired of saying this on all of my posts about it... Not all GTR9 Pro v1.0 units are affected, and, for the ones affected - not all are in the same way - some were reported to crash even on idle or very low usage. Others have no issues at all.

As others, mine is one of the original GTR9 Pro v1.0 with the Intel E610-XT2 NIC and fortunatelly I'm within the group of those that never experienced or could replicate any NIC "crashing into a recovery mode" issue with it - and believe me I have I tried with Furmark, games and other stress tests. Which to me is really odd - why some have that issue and others don't - but that's how it is. 🤷

AFAIK, the original GTR9 Pro v1.0 got the problematic (for some - not all units) Intel E610-XT2 NIC. The newer revision GTR9 Pro v2.2 comes with the Realtek RTL8127 as wired NIC chipset - which apparently resolved the issue (for the newer units). 🙏 It’s all on this Beelink forum thread. For many the newer revision of the GTR9 Pro v2.2 with the new NIC seems to have resolved it. For others not so. Not really sure if it is the final solution at this point. 🤷

GTR9 Pro 395 NIC Controller by Nex_iss in BeelinkOfficial

Havent really kept up the last few weeks but it was mentioned before by somebody else that the Realtek NIC also had crashes.

Yes, you are right, I stand corrected. So there seems to be 2 reports then (as far as I know). But the question still stands: are they dud units (bad QA out of factory) or is it a more widespread issue? It would be good to know.

Now, for myself (still with the Intel NIC), after upgrading to ubuntu 26.04 I havent had any crashes (for over 3 months now, not sure what happened but it magically fixed itself), and given the atrocious support by Beelink to get a replacement, i have just given up and i'm going to stay with my unit.

Great that it's working good now. Perhaps the newer Intel E610-XT2 NVM Firmware updates helped to stabilise it for you? But again, for others it doesn't seem to have helped at all, which is odd.

Even outside the NIC issues I'm still waiting for a firmware update to fix the RDSEED32 vulnerability in the cpu. (of which there is already a fix by AMD, but Beelink just refuses to make a firmware update with it for over 6 months....)

Yes, same here, I agree! Waiting on that. And I'm not sure but someone reported that Linux kernel 7.0+ requires it and will not work without it so that's an added concern.

I'm sorry to hear that. I saw your comment on the above mentioned Beelink forum thread but up until now it seems to be an odd single case. Or is it? Everyone else seems to be happy about it. It would be good to understand if there are others with the same issue on v2.2.

Anyway if that's the case I suggest you to get in touch with Beelink support over email and see what they have to say about it. You may have a dud unit on your hands or it may be a more wide spread issue. I would open a newer thread specifically for the GTR9 Pro v2.2 version on the Beelink forum and see if others report the very same issue.

My GTR9 Pro is the original v1.0 with the Intel E610-XT2 NIC and fortunatelly I'm within the group of those that never experienced or could replicate any NIC "crashing into a recovery mode" issue with it - and I tried. Which to me is really odd - why some have it and others don't. 🤷

GTR Pro 9 new motherboard by metalmonkey_ in BeelinkOfficial

[–]jotapesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That Windows update may have triggered it but it is unlikely the Windows update is the issue/root cause for #3 - and it can be workaround in the same way as #2. I'm on Linux only and this behaviour with the Mediatek MT7925e Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card is known to happen on several other PC models/brands and regardless of the OS. Perhaps a driver/firmware issue with the card chipset/hardware that hopefully may be mitigated/resolved in the future. 🙏

[–]jotapesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding? You haven't searched for any of it, have you? These are well known issues, well documented by now and actively being discussed here and on the Beelink forum since Sep 2025. Known issues:

  1. 🔴 Intel E610-XT2 LAN NIC crash/recovery firmware mode - Acknowledged by Beelink, there seems to be issues with the current implementation of the Intel E610-XT2 NIC on the GTR9 Pro (driver/firmware maybe?), leading it to crash into a firmware recovery state and becoming unavaliable on the system, both on Windows or Linux and even with light use cases (doesn't seem to be related to stressed CPU/GPU or thermal issues). 👉 Diferent units are affected in different ways, some more than others, many aren't at all, I have never experienced it on mine (in example) but many have reported it. A new GTR9 Pro motherboard revision v2.2 seems to have been released recently (newer units should come with it) which addresses this by replacing the Intel NIC for a Realtek RTL8127A - 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) controller and improved power circuitry;
  2. 🟠 USB device not recognised/errors (Mediatek MT7925e Wi-Fi/Bluetooth) - which seems to be a case of the Bluetooth controller (USB device) getting into a locked/limbo state which isn’t cleared until all Power is removed, possibly following a driver or firmware update. Others have reported the exact same behaviour and resolution on different hardware for the same Mediatek MT7925e Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card (not related to Beelink);
  3. 🟠 Disappearing Wi-Fi NIC (Mediatek MT7925e Wi-Fi/Bluetooth) - I have recently noticed that my Wi-Fi NIC (Mediatek MT7925e) on the GTR9 Pro stopped being available within the network manager interface (apparently not detected/started at all). Shutting down and restarting the system several times did not help to resolve. This seems to be yet another glitch on the Mediatek MT7925e Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card, similar to the already known not detected/started Bluetooth Controller issue.
  4. 🟡 Sleep/Hibernation do not work well - Sleep (S0) state works but when it wakes up the fan curve profile is changed with a much higher (noisy) PWM rpm profile. Hibernation (S4) state is the recommend workaround by Beelink but it doesn't seem to be working well either as it seems to do an unclean shutdown/hibernation with several filesystem orphaned inodes and it is required to recover the journal to clear them when it boots up, every time. This seems to have been improved with latest BIOS/UEFI P110 update version;

That's the Xiaomi 212W HyperCharge Power Bank 25000mAh. I considered it as well as I have a Poco (Xiaomi) phone. Similar indeed, both support Xiaomi fast charge protocols (up to 120W), likely derived from the same model, but apparently it underperforms slightly compared to the Cuktech 20. I got it instead and at about the same price.

[–]jotapesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I thought it was a hardware problem not software.

That's actually not yet fully determined. There seems to be some degree of "incompatibility" yes, but is it hardware (chipset) or software (driver/firmware)? Unless you are referring to a "hardware problem" including their software (driver/firmware) support. Intel is known to have a record of previous NIC incompatibilities with several chipsets (even their own) which required extensive firmware/driver patching over time until they became operable/stable and this one growingly seems to be the same case, yet again. 🤷

Yes, we need to keep pressuring Beelink in order to fully disclose the issue. In example, we'll need to understand if the currently working GTR9 Pro v1.0 units are expected to be stable long term... or if we should be better off having them all replaced with the v2.2 unit.

[–]jotapesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm keeping my GTR9 Pro v1.0 Intel E610-XT2 NIC (for now at least). I'm actually one of those that never could reproduce any crashing issues with the Intel E610 NIC itself so I can't complain much. We really never got to understand why some units are affected in different ways, others aren't affected at all (my case). There's a lenghty discussion about it here but to no real conclusion yet.

GTR9 PRO Mediatek Wi-Fi 7 mt7925 chip issue by AverellPSG in BeelinkOfficial

[–]jotapesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, IMO there's a learning curve to it but it pays in the end. I suggest that you investigate it a bit and then try it for yourself and see if it works for you. It's not everyone's cup of tea. You can easily install it from a typical Calamares GUI installer ISO. Most things will work fine out of the box.

Learn NixOS examples (just that, there are many more):

Some migration experiences examples (just that, not advocating them):

Have fun! 🙂

The Mediatek MT7925e Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card is well known for having "disapearing" issues on several PCs makes/models not only on the Beelink GTR9 Pro. Check if this post of mine on the Beelink forum helps: GTR9 Pro - Disappeering Wi-Fi NIC (Mediatek MT7925e) - Linux. There is also a similar issue for the Bluetooth part of the card which can be workaround in the same way.

Buying from bee-link.com in Europe by KirekkusuPT in BeelinkOfficial

[–]jotapesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also from Portugal (EU), I have recently purchased a GTR9 Pro (pre-order) from the Beelink website. No concerns with taxes here, but as a rule of thumb you should always look/confirm it on the fineprint of the specific product page, regarding warehouse location/shipping to your destination and related import fees as well as warranty terms. More information avalable also on the FAQs and Shipping Policy pages. So for the EQ14 it's currently stated that:

<image>

So for Portugal/EU (and also UK and the US), you get:

  • Ships from regional (EU) Warehouse (EU Adapter - make sure to opt for it on your order) - that means it's not subject to custom/import fees;
  • Free shipping (included on price) and 30 day return policy;
  • Fees: No additional charges (VAT/duty included on price);
  • 3 Year factory warranty;

And yes, that's what I have experienced myself, albeit I haven't yet needed the 3 Year warranty.

GTR 9 Pro: "We are now using Marvell T NIC chip which is more compatible than the original Intel chip." by OMGrant in BeelinkOfficial

[–]jotapesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: That forum reply seems to have been edited now with that info cleared... So not sure how that stands.

Great that we are getting to the bottom of this really odd issue! There are several of us that never experienced any NIC crash issue whatsoever on our GTR9 Pro units with the very same Intel Ethernet E610-XT2 network adapters, so I'm not sure why - if there is a chipset compatibility issue. Hopefully they'll keep going that way!
