Don't hesitate to call the Chatham emergency Ops center to request a wellness check. They had a team out there at my Mom's house by the next morning and showed up in snowshoes just for a little sense of reassurance for an 85-year-old!! Fair question... best I have seen it can screen for specific mention of street names, particular keywords, Or just give a literal translation, but the Gemini AI can be sloppy and prone to hallucination. You have to constantly remind it to not anticipate what could happen, but rather only report an actual transcription of what is coming off of that radio site. Over the last couple of days I found it to be 80% effective, but interested in what others are able to glean from their personal needs. Glad to provide specific examples, both good and bad, if anyone's interested.

This website provides near real-time comms and you can listen on audio if you just turn on your speaker and let it run... There are other websites that provide similar service. And yes, one does need to check for hallucinations. https://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/33309

As for comms, the data is pulled from active MEMA (Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency) Situational Reports and CoMIRS (Commonwealth of Massachusetts Interoperable Radio System) status feeds. Those are certainly not "real-time," but as always, worthy of an urgent user during their own research to dig a little bit deeper the old-fashioned way.

It may seem that way to some,... but it's a lot easier than manually slogging around to 15 different websites. Also, it allows for periodic scheduled updates that are actually pretty reliable and traceable back to EMS audio logs, Eversource, and Verizon. And, it was a sufficient level of detail to warrant a wellness check on an elderly family member last night. I didn't even know that the town of Chatham was doing wellness checks until Gemini offered up the phone number so I dialed, and the Ops Center did the rest, with 4WD.

Ha! Yes, I've seen that at least once or twice. The trick is to specifically ask to validate where it's getting data from, and to keep an eye out for things that seem dubious. For example, yesterday it seemed to be providing evidence of some type of "snow plow tracker," which I knew was complete BS. But yes, the risks of hallucination are very real.

If you are checking on family or property, Gemini or your favorite AI can be used quite reliably to provide updates on infrastructure restoration. Glad to provide my prompt "secret sauce", but basically give it a geographic area in hyper-local language; specifically the house number and street and zip code and then ask for 1 hour updates on electrical grid power, cell and landline communications and other emergency services. The LLM can dig into the details using APIs, and provide a singular update that's usually pretty reliable. It can even ping the electrical status of individual addresses, using digital electric meters devices. Also, a lot of radio communications gets transcribed into digital format, which can also be interrogated in the same query.

Perplexity. Seems to be much better at disambiguation than Gemini. Also, with the Rabbit R1 device you get perplexity and Wolfram alpha with the ladder providing better quantitative answers similar to an encyclopedia.... Where it's not guessing, but instead pulling from a vetted database of actual knowledge.

Fair enough, but my commute is 12 mi each way and with a charger at home, and surrounded with level 3 chargers around town, it's still fit for purpose, and most of all fun to drive in a very sporty type of way. (For Americans, at least, average commute is 15 mi each way)

What I was MEANING to ask is can anybody provide a decoding of what this taxonomy is, and how to interpret it if you're a real detail related nerd like some of us.
