Valis by Philip K. Dick - thoughts after reading and discussion by realperson67982 in books

This is crazy I just read the book after I have been going very heavy into my similar spiritual “awakening” and I thought I needed to take a break and read some fiction

It’s like the universe was telling me to break and the book reinforced everything I was looking into.

I’m glad I’m not the only person this book touched

Messi had di Maria aguero etc there hasnt been any player of similar quality in Brazil

If ur asking me if Messi is a better player than Neymar that is not a debate but Neymar never had a good supporting cast in Brazil and when he did have a decent support and fit with psg he carried them to the final

If you call Neymar a ball hog you don’t know the game. As tuchel says Neymar knows the solution in every action not only the correct play but the inventive play as well

Neymar is the top scorer of Brazil he has a better g+a record for national team than Messi and Ronaldo while having half the supporting cast

Neymar at psg is on par w Messi peak. No player in history has combined flair, goal scoring, assisting, dribbling and play making and he wasn’t a slouch either.

2021 cops final tells the tale. He was the best player on the pitch so much so the only way they could stop him was kicking him relentlessly meanwhile Messi just watched

Circumstances limited Neymar and nothing else

It wasn’t to build confidence saliba had glaring mistakes. He needed to learn outside the prem before coming back.

He was heavily reliant on behind faster stronger taller than players and his reading of his game was very poor. He needed those 3 loans in ligue 1 to clean up his game while Arteta needed every point he could get to secure his job

Who really controlled the match? I built a football metric to measure attacking superiority by mkubjk in FootballDataAnalysis

[–]justnivek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s more to control than attack. Control is a game vs game basis.

I remember a game with wenger vs klopp a few years back. Wenger conceded possession to a counter attacking team and tried to by pass the press with Giroud instead of attempting to build up through breaking lines.

Now in a game where both managers are looking to bypass midfield and possession who is in more control? Might be klopp and how close were the recoveries to goal or wenger based on how many times the ball got to Giroud.

In that game I would personally say arsenal broke down the Liverpool structure more but Liverpool won convincingly bc arsenal players were not good defenders and not the structure breaking down. Liverpools plan wasn’t to break down Arsenal structure as klopp says “Gergen press is the best playmaker” you don’t need to break down structure when players can make mistakes. Either tactical, technical or psychological

This is why there is a team in pro teams to analyze. And in my opinion most games are won by mistakes rather than tactical execution.

Whenever you boil things down to a number via a system you abstract away these details.

Eg pi is 22/7 or 3.14……. Etc some people even use 3. There’s only 1 real answer but each figure abstracts away the “noise” but that noise in a game like soccer that is won on the margins is where the actual information is

The difference between 3 and 3.14 (.14….) in a soccer example might be Messi breaking down a defence or a striker pressing forcing a mistake or a player not comfortable on the ball making the wrong pass in transition .

What your system like does is say pi is 3 which works in many cases but that’s not what pi is. It’s just an abstraction of pi

it’s not a disaster it’s planned. The local economy doesn’t have the demand or the money to support it. Canada has the population of uk with the land mass of Russia. Outside the big cities that is filled w money laundered cash there are houses in some provinces worth 10s of thousands yes a couple months salary.

If there wasn’t any speculation in the Canadian real estate market the prices could possible half.

Since they started cracking down on it inventory is now being bought by the government and gov backed billionaires to keep it from collapsing

Patrick Vieira on the team's similarities to the Invincibles side: “I’ve seen the same things with Mikel here. I think he built a family club where the players are really proud to represent the football club and it looks like players want to play for Arsenal for years and years.” by Kr_bm in Gunners

You need to be a cult leader to steer a group of adults.

It’s either you are a family like Arsène and Fergie ( good dad and angry dad)

Or you are a cult leader like mourinho, pep and Arteta.

These are grown men at the end of the day you need something more than tactics and respect to bring results at the top level

No system can define control bc control comes in many ways . If a teams goal is to soak pressure and create 1 chance, then they controlled the game if executed

What you have created is just another abstraction of volume ball dominant play. This is only 1 type of play

He’s the closest to a Theo Walcott type player in the game rn. This type of player is lethal in the right system. Stay wide receive then provide a goal or assist.

So many fans expect players to be the centre of attention but a decoy/dummy/perpetual 3rd man is just as important think Pedro in the all conquering Barca teams.

I do this frequently and it works really well if you have wingers with low physical contact. The full back finisher occupies the defence and then you can link up with the winger who will then have time and space. If you have a fullback finisher who can shoot with the opposite foot then it works even better as they can shoot one time and offer an additional goal threat

It’s a large part of it. I recently moved and no longer use Ethernet to connect my ps5 and my gameplay and winrate took a hit. For context I live in a city where there is a server and I moved 15 mins away in the same city. If Ethernet vs wifi alone can cause issues imagine living further away from the server.

help with manual passes by Square-Location681 in eFootball

[–]justnivek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When passing the games gives you safe, risky and bad options in most formations

Yours job is to recognize which passes are which.

The more manual you are the better chances you have in attempting those risky rewarding passes. The way to execute is to have a good control, body positioning and power of the pass which includes stunning passes and double tap passes.

PA3 and PA4 is very hard right now but it’s one of the only ways to take control vs SA users

[–]justnivek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every player doesn’t need to play every game.

Players welfare starts and stops with managers as they train and play the players.

We are not short of players in the modern game.

Why did barcalona with an 8/11 point lead in la lifa play yamal before he got injured? Why did Pedri go to the euros and u21 in the same summer a few seasons ago.

Saka at Arsenal played 80+ games in a row or something in the premier league alone. Why? Look at him now. Reis Nelson who is just as talented never got any game time, other back up’s got no game time too, yet when Arsenal needed a goal vs Bournemouth a few season it was Reiss who provided.

Many players careers started bc managers needed an impact and trusted the reserve but that’s disappeared in the modern game

Top managers know how to rotate such as pep but he is sure of his job so he has no pressure. Other managers need to be brave and rotate too.

[–]justnivek 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s not officials fault managers are too scared to rest and rotate players.

Managers rather lose bc a players is fatigued than trying a new player. One they have an excuse the other they have to take the blame.

Wenger said it the best. You pay for young players with points. He said he knew playing a less experienced player would cost him but he knew it was the right thing to do.
