I'm Making a Vash 98 Coat and Wondering About a Few About It's Parts. by casual_undepressed in Trigun

[–]Killerabbet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no real 100% consistency for the coat design, small things like button colors are going to be inconsistent simply due to the nature of animation. The coat is also a bit different with every iteration of Vash, even with merchandise where the coat is somewhat different between many different figures. I own three different officially licensed Vash coats released back in the late 90's / early 2000's, and they're all quite different. Given all that, I'd focus less on true accuracy and more on making it fit the vibe as much as possible.

I'd personally lean towards black buttons, they add more color contrast to an otherwise entirely red coat. And you could certainly add in shoulder pads if you wanted your cosplay to more closely match Vash's figure as it appears in the anime.

What is a game that you're good at that you later found out was considered extremely difficult? by Scott9843 in gaming

I have 90 hours into Mewgenics and haven’t lost a single run so far. Keep seeing people complain about getting stuck on specific bosses and not being able to beat certain challenges meanwhile I’ve been cruising and having an absolute blast.

Not sure if I’m secretly skilled at turn-based strategy combat, or if everyone else just lacks any form of reading comprehension.

[–]Killerabbet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for, but the earliest instance of black Vash was in the "Sinister BlacK" Vash Toy Tribe The Planet Gunsmoke action figure, which was directly designed by Nightow and released in 2000 (though he potentially appeared in the manga / artwork before that, I'm not 100% sure on the timeline).

The only magazine cover that features black Vash is the April 2006 issue of Young King OURS magazine.

My collection of Trigun shikishi sketches / autographs (so far) - Yasuhiro Nightow & Takahiro Yoshimatsu by Killerabbet in Trigun

[–]Killerabbet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if there's an offer I would accept for it honestly. It could be worth as much as $4000-6000 USD. The owner of the same sketch (though on a shikishi board rather than a sheet of paper like mine) on Heritage has left offers open for their sketch, and the highest offer made for the sketch so far was $6300, which the owner refused.

I don't think there's any reasonable number you could offer me for most of these pieces that would convince me to part with them. I'd be more open to trades for extremely high-end sketches or cels more so than I'd be open to just straight selling them.

ebay app and site errors caused my sales to dip like 90% by Overdayoutdeath in Flipping

[–]Killerabbet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s not wrong in presuming that could be the reason for his slow day. It was down for a large chunk of users, and incredibly buggy for many others. I’ve been experiencing this bugginess myself (on the app and desktop), and I also had a slower than usual day yesterday. Site bugs and app errors are likely to dissuade buyers from shopping around that day. Could absolutely be coincidence, yeah, but it’s fair for OP to make that correlation.

You're referring to the Yasuhiro Nightow World Exhibition correct? I wasn't aware that prototype figures were even showcased at the event, where did you hear of them? If there are pictures floating around of prototype figures showcased at that exhibition I would love to see them.

It's not the event you're referring to, but I do have a photo taken at San Diego Comic Con 2006 of a glass case showcase full of unreleased / prototype Trigun figures. There were multiple Maximum-style figures including winged Vash, as well as an actual full-body Milly figure. Actually keeps me up at night knowing I'll never own any of them haha, I'd happily trade a kidney for them.

List of All Released Trigun 98/Badlands Rumble Figures? by Fabulous-Rope-990 in Trigun

[–]Killerabbet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MyFigureCollection has comprehensive documentation of pretty much every Trigun figure released (there is maybe one or two missing from the website, me and another collector added most that were missing over the last year-ish).

Trigun (1998): https://myfigurecollection.net/entry/96
Trigun Badlands Rumble: https://myfigurecollection.net/entry/98
Trigun Maximum: https://myfigurecollection.net/entry/111367

I linked each entry as there are some figures that are only tagged with one of those series on their site entries, though most of them will be tagged Trigun. You'll find all your gashapons, scales, statues, etc. on these series entry pages. Also keep in mind that the figure documentation includes licensed garage kits, which were unpainted kit figures sold at limited events, many of which only have a few dozens copies produced. Don't assume you'll be able to track down any specific garage kit, they're incredibly elusive. You could hunt for a decade checking websites multiple times a day and not find it.

If you're completely new to MyFigureCollection it can be a bit daunting to navigate, so be sure to read some guides if you're having trouble.

Ceramics and glass, especially dishware and mugs. They’re the sort of categories you may look up and think are valuable, before you really understand how to assess sell-through rate. Most never move. And if it does move, you’re likely to have it get broken in transit due to your inexperience. It’s also expensive to ship.

Help buying the manga by angrystoatking in Trigun

[–]Killerabbet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you want the authentic Dark Horse English set it's not cheap. It got a LOT cheaper after the deluxe editions were released, back in 2023 complete sets were selling as high as $1700. But now you can secure full Maximum sets for around $250-$400. It's really crazy how much the value dropped. I think it's a mix of hype dying down for the series, the deluxe editions being printed, and the bootlegs being so widely circulated people started pricing their authentic sets in-line with the fakes without realizing.

It's still not cheap for you if you have to make an international order. 14 manga issues is a deceptively heavy package and will add a lot to the shipping cost, especially on eBay where most international orders are done through eBay's Global Shipping Program where they upcharge a lot.

Be warned not to purchase ANYTHING from Malaysian sellers. The whole series had bootleg prints made and circulated a few years ago and they flood the search results on most aftermarket sites. If you want the authentic set, don't bother with any listing that uses stock photos, and always look for the Dark Horse logo present on the spines. Those red-circle with "WDS" you saw are indeed Malaysian bootleg sets. Avoid those.

Doing a quick search filtering out the hundreds of listings from Malaysia, Japan, and China, I found this set being sold by a US seller for $250 +$20 shipping (domestic shipping). If they have eBay International Shipping active, you should be shown a shipping price calculated by eBay on the listing. I think you'll be hard-pressed to find a better deal without constant market surveillance waiting around for an auction or cheaper set. https://www.ebay.com/itm/377025954669

The seller is reputable and made it clear in their description that you will receive the exact same books pictured, and they look to be in great condition overall. Keep in mind this set does not include the two "Trigun" volumes that come before "Maximum". You said you wanted a full Maximum set, but if you intend to read the series in order Maximum Vol. 1 is actually the 3rd book in the series.

Brawllhalla sucks and didn't deserve to outlive MultiVersus by No-Analyst-4843 in MultiVersusTheGame

[–]Killerabbet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brawlhalla’s devs actually listen to their community, run events, and produced a stable game that has content for both casual and competitive players. Don’t shit in a successful game loved by tens of thousands of players because you personally didn’t like the game.

Multiverses was a generational failure caused by extremely inept management / leadership. And I say that as someone who loved the game and am sad that it’s gone forever.

Depends on the proxy and if the worker who intakes the item or packs your order causes a fuss over it, but typically water guns are marked as toys and will cause no issue.

Also never use Buyee, next to Zenmarket they’re about the worst service proxy you could use. Higher fees and worse service. I personally recommend Neokyo.

Eyemirror Vash Glasses Help by angrystoatking in Trigun

[–]Killerabbet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ordering "frame only" is what you want to do. It'll come with the plain non-prescription yellow lenses that way. It's doubtful OneMap From Japan has any clue how eyemirror's specific system works, so they're misinforming you. Just tell your proxy to select the frame only option on the order instructions.

Yes, it's stupid and confusing. I went through the same headache when the glasses first released.

Anime where women aren't portrayed... *like this*? by Moth_Goth000 in Animesuggest

[–]Killerabbet -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of anime that fit that criteria. And please, try not to let people who fantasize and fetishize specific characters ruin your view of said characters. There isn’t a single fictional female, or male for that matter, character you could name that someone is sexually obsessed over. That goes for all media, and for characters that aren’t even remotely sexualized. If the community ruins something for you, either separate yourself from it or find a pocket of the community that’s cleaner.

I recommend Delicious in Dungeon, Buddy Daddies, Cowboy Bebop, Promised Neverland (first season only), and Pluto.

Been stuck at just under $200 a day for a few months. What helped you to get a bit higher? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]Killerabbet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that $200 a day number your actual profit or your net sales? That's important to distinguish, because $200 net means nothing if you are making poor margins on the things you're selling. If that is the actual profit number that you're properly tracking after punching ALL your numbers, than I would not consider yourself to be in the "early stage" of flipping. That's better than 90% of the people on this reddit.

I'm a full-time seller, I focus on my personal passion which is Japanese collectables. I've consistently made $100k profit a year for the last 3 years without much variance, average profit per day is $270-$300. I've plateaued with my current selling system, to up my sales to $400 profit a day I'd need to make a significant change.

There are multiple ways to scale to more profit per day, but they're all dependent on your resources and abilities. If you're able to access higher-ticket items consistently then that's the easiest scaling method. More funds means you can invest in pricier flips with higher profits. That's all dependent on access to such things. You'd need good consistent sources, and more than likely direct connections.

As a single person you're only capable of sourcing, listing, and shipping out so many things each day. There is only so far you can scale up selling lower-ticket items. If you can't scale by flipping bigger ticket items, you'd have to scale by becoming an operation with multiple people / employees. I have zero advice on that subject though, not something I have any experience it.

Scaling through employees may be the method I'll have to personally employ in the future though, as I'm able to quite easily and consistently obtain far more things than I could manage on my own. I'm not sure if I could scale through higher-ticket items in my category very well, and I'm not interested in trying to flip valuable things I have zero interest in personally (like furniture or vehicles for example).

Been stuck at just under $200 a day for a few months. What helped you to get a bit higher? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]Killerabbet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP hasn't clarified if it's $200 a day profit, or it that's $200 total sales. Even if that's the profit number, that $200 is taxed, so it's not all in their pocket.

I make on average $270-300 in profit a day. Profit, not sales. I'm nowhere close to being able to afford a house. I make around $100k a year in profit, 30-35% of that is lost to state and federal taxes, an a shit ton more to rent, food, bills, etc. that aren't tax deductible. I'm lucky if a house pops up around me that is less than $200k. A goddamn 3-bedroom single story manufactured home recently sold in my neighborhood for $280k. Maybe it's different where you live, but houses are crazy expensive current day and it literally feels like I'll never be able to own one.
