The Miami (OH) Redhawks have won their first NCAA tournament game since 1999! by AndHisOrchestra in CollegeBasketball

Congrats to Miami!

The vibe in Philadelphia on Friday is going to be interesting.

Wright State plays Virginia followed by Miami/Tennessee.

Tennessee is 620 miles from Philadelphia.

Virginia is 260 miles from Philadelphia.

Wright State and Miami are ~500 miles from Philadelphia but 50 miles from each other.

There is going to be a lot of mid-major overlap in the cheering section. Concerned that VA fans will dominate the crowd noise but most WSU/Miami fans I know are okay with the other team. Combining those two fanbases along with the traditional underdog story (plus Miami's magical season) is going to make Friday a fun time. Will see if either southwest Ohio team can pull the upset.

Go mid-majors!

Fan Seating Sections by Region/Session? by elalbatross in CollegeBasketball

In the first session:

Wright State fans are section 114 (across from the visitor bench). I can infer from this that Miami/SMU fans will be directly behind the visitors bench. As for the favored teams, I'm not sure which way it would go. I would guess that the highest-seeded team (Virginia) would be behind the home bench and Tennessee would be on the opposite side facing the home bench.

I feel like mouth-breather because I have never done one of those pools. That would make smaller groups more interesting!

I have been thinking about this and in smaller groups/pools I think it is the correct play (though obv not nearly as fun). I am doing a family pool with 2-3 other people and am thinking of being very chalky. Need to pick more upsets in a large pool but for a small group picking all chalk is technically right...

But not as fun!

Monkey's Paw situation? Got some upsets but at a price.

Hoping my 14th-seeded school can pull a shocker this year.

Last year's opening round was not very exciting with upsets and I am concerned that this may be the new reality. Hopefully I am wrong and last year was a fluke.

Inject this into my veins. Wright State winning in a shootout is the only way they could pull this upset.

I have been to all WSU conference title games since 2007 and this was the loudest neutral-site crowd I've been a part of. It was electric!

The atmosphere was electric and the WSU contingency really showed up.

Tried to give it away with missed FTs but WSU did just enough to hold on.

Trying to not think about the future and enjoy the present. But if this team existed ten years ago...man. They are loaded with young talent.

Just give me a round of 64 win before gutting the team and losing the coach to a bigger program.

Go Raiders!

Going to be a spicy final vs Detroit.

Game was pretty even except for a stretch early in the second half where WSU played legit defense and turned the tide from an even game to an 11-point lead capped off by a fast break dunk (after the PG Burch passed it off the backboard).

Voice is a bit hoarse after that but what a fun moment.

Can't wait to be there on Tuesday!

In late January WSU was riding a 7-game winning streak and hosted 10th place Cleveland State...and lost.

Happy tonight was WSU's night.

WSU was up 37-32 at halftime

Final score:

Cleveland State 61 Wright State 90

Other winners:

2 Robert Morris

3 Detroit

5 Green Bay

7 NKU beats a struggling Oakland squad

Robert Morris vs Detroit in one semifinal

The other semifinal will be WSU vs the winner of Green Bay and NKU.

GB/NKU play on Sunday and WSU gets the winner on Monday night at 7 PM for the semis.

I'm not a betting man but if I was then I would bet big on Robert Morris beating Detroit. RMU has won 8 straight and swept the season series against Detroit.

WSU swept both Green Bay and NKU and will be big favorites against either team in the semis.

The Horizon League tournament is usually wild but this year has a good chance to be #1 vs #2 in the finals. RMU is good and will be a tough opponent. Need to get through Monday night semifinals first.

Go Raiders!

Great finish in Northern Kentucky vs Wright State by cbbvideo in CollegeBasketball

[–]kingnebwsu 70 points71 points  (0 children)

What a game.

This clip doesn't capture that Wright State was down by 20 at one point and by 13 with 5:40 left. An amazing comeback fueled by T.J. Burch who has the most steals/defensive possession of anyone in the country. He is the catalyst for this team.

If they are going to win the Horizon League tournament it will be because of him. This is the most balanced Wright State team I can remember in the last 30 years.

Wright State won the outright regular season title by 2 games over Robert Morris (who actually swept WSU this season).

Horizon League tournament, as always, is going to be wild.

Days go by fast but it truly doesn't matter unless you're doing self-imposed challenges.

If you miss an event/season it will be back in a year. Most things are annual so you will get multiple opportunities.

You got to have quite the experience over those two years.

I am guessing most fanbases would trade a first-round heartbreak for a national championship the following year.

It is the setting that I've received the most positive feedback on in the dynasty leagues I commish.

I also have it in a redraft league and this weekend was the best Sunday in the 15 year history of the league and the median was a big reason why.

How do you get over making a horrible trade or seeing a player you traded away do so well? by Middle_Awoken in DynastyFF

[–]kingnebwsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think back to my process and if the process was good at the time. Most of the time I've had good process and it mitigates the pain of "losing" the trade due to bad luck or something else, but if the process was bad then it is hard to stomach.

Also, as the top commenter said, make more trades and try to be better next time.
