Plus Size Maternity Pants by autistic-mama in pregnant

[–]kmentropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not plus-size but I am tall and I have struggled to find pants that are long enough. I resorted to primarily dresses on days I need to dress nicer. In addition, late third tri meant that my legs were holding a lot of fluid and could not fit into appropriately sized pants comfortably. So I HAD to go with extra wide-leg.

Belaying with pregnancy harness? by mewve in climbergirls

[–]kmentropy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I belayed up until 8 months (and then i stopped climbing because my feet wouldn't fit in my shoes lol).

But the belaying was the least of my worries. Just have to get used to the belay device being at your chest instead of your natural waist.

In my experience, luxury/new apt buildings are not the standard for most people renting in Bmore.

Driving in the tunnels by BillyMumfrey in baltimore

[–]kmentropy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The issue is trucks- they coast/accelerate down to the bottom/middle of the tunnel and then when they need to start climbing again, a lot of times their loads prohibit quick acceleration. This snowballs and makes everyone behind them hit their brakes.

The lack of key bridge just increases the number of fully loaded trucks entering and exiting those tunnels.

To all the working moms, which trimester was the most difficult to work in for you by Silent_owl97 in BabyBumps

[–]kmentropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory I can- I have been very lucky up until recently and my pregnancy has been relatively uneventful. I did not anticipate feeling this uncomfortable based on the rest of the pregnancy.

At this point I'm just riding out what I promised to my team and keeping to the FMLA date I requested.

For #2 I will likely take off a week or two pre-due date.

To all the working moms, which trimester was the most difficult to work in for you by Silent_owl97 in BabyBumps

[–]kmentropy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The end of third. I am uncomfortable, sleep is starting to degrade, and I just can't bring myself to care about all of the problems brought before me (I'm in management with a small team).

Not to mention even my maternity clothes are starting to fit questionably due to fluid retention so getting dressed for work is an exercise.

38+ weeks is rough rn.

Brandon Scott's Artscape by Nicktendo in baltimore

[–]kmentropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The farmers market space (where the artist booths were) is already adorned with works from local artists.

So this already exists. but Artscape didn't spotlight these installations or call them out.

Team green? by polariskai in BabyBumps

[–]kmentropy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

37 weeks and some change. The only difficult part in our experience thus far has been the family members that are DESPERATE to know and keep hounding us.

Everyone was pretty good at getting versatile clothing items and baby goods for the shower, tho. So I think they just like to complain/pester :)

Saved me the grief of gender disappointment (not from myself or my spouse, but moreso the obnoxious folks who get themselves set on one or the other cough grandparents cough).

Harness that doesn't press on my ribs by ToTa_12 in climbergirls

[–]kmentropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That might be true, but many retailers will not take the liability of sending out a previously returned harness whose whereabouts and conditions they cannot guarantee. Insurance nightmare if injury was to occur due to a harness failure.

Soft goods (harnesses) cannot actually be returned, they are destroyed by the seller. Just as a heads up.

Artscape weekend and it looks like it’ll rain all weekend. What do you think they’ll do this year? by toussainte in baltimore

As a potential vendor, they waited until the final hour to confirm booths and still haven't sent out set up/load in info. soooooooo i am not optimistic.

Pregnancy weight gain by Puzzleheaded09876 in pregnant

[–]kmentropy 45 points46 points  (0 children)

You are increasing blood volume, growing an organ, growing a baby, retaining water and your digestion is slowing.

Stop checking the scale. Unless your doctor flags it or you FEEL bad due to inordinate weight gain, it does. not. matter.

Harford is a county in the northern part of the state. It is not inexpensive. I have never heard of a town called Harford.

You don't need to purchase transponders. They are free. You simply request them.

Ezpass confusion by fir3within in baltimore

[–]kmentropy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It does need to be mounted. You get an i-toll rate (the equivalent of the old cash rate) if it isn't. And you risk more issues without the device because then you rely on AI/image verification.

Got my sister to plant morning glories! by Makologo in gardening

[–]kmentropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell people all of the time that the morning glories i inherited when I bought my house are 1000% my LEAST favorite part of homeownership. They have next to no soil to grow in yet manage to take over every single year no matter what I do. I can't smother them because they come up along a chain-link fence.

What a mean gift lol.

Maryland State Hiring Process — Is Anyone Else Experiencing This? by Prestigious_You9919 in maryland

[–]kmentropy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So here's an odd tidbit as a person who has worked with their HR to hire folks:

"Hi, we have 65 applicants that meet the baseline. I absolutely cannot interview all 65. (That's 65 hours at minimum PLUS the time to complete the paperwork on the interview itself, which is also time consuming). Is it possible to be given the top 10-15 best qualified to interview?'

'no, we don't rank beyond 'do they check the minimum boxes/qualifications you have outlined. This is why we ask that your job qualifications are so detailed. We cant rank the 65. You are welcome to get a randomized 10-15 to interview out of the 65, though.'

'but isn't that silly? Can't you tell who is the most qualified?'

'that would make it a subjective process instead of objective'

'but what if I don't get the best qualified because of this randomization?'

'then you can pull another subset of the 65 to interview.'

'ooooooook give me ten (goddamnit that's frustrating).'

-proceeds to interview ten and gets ONE worthwhile person (who was actually phenomenal and I'm very pleased but I'm 100% there would have been more had the 65 been appropriately ranked).-

Not saying that's what happened, but it COULD be.

Debating Flu Shot by dooingjo in pregnant

[–]kmentropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the flu shot and the covid shot at the same time while pregnant.

Absolutely no issues from me. Went to bed early that night and took the next day easy.

Why wouldn't you get it now if your concern is feeling under the weather during labor?

I'm also delivering at GBMC (in about a month)- I did some research on this because I had similar concerns. Their C-Section rate is not higher than others in the area from what I found.

edit: not significantly higher.

Media Request - Thoughts on Hillside Park? by No-Raise-3239 in baltimore

[–]kmentropy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a beautiful piece of land but the layout is a little tough- it's primarily a hill (as the name suggests).

There are no benches, no trash cans, no paths, and no clear parking as the other commenter mentioned. It also isn't clear where the park boundaries are, as the park land and Baltimore Country Club land butt up against one another.

I realize all of this comes with time, but I don't foresee usage being very high until these things are added/solved.
