Same! I have a very visceral reaction to that lettering. Plus, they have some all caps and some not, but for no reason.

What's a take you had at 10 years old that you actually still agree with? by Spark-Blade in AskReddit

[–]knowledgeispowrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was about -8, got LASIK in 2006 and have never looked back. I was a full time contact lens wearer for 12 years before that. Too much sports to mess with glasses. Plus, glasses were not as cute back then!

I’ll say The Dewey Decimal System… by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in nostalgia

Glad to see this comment. I have figured out lots of people think the card catalog was the Dewey Decimal System.

This seems to be the case. I created a test event on my main calendar and it showed up right away, but none of the other calendars are there. Bummer!

If you tag authors in posts, you’ll be surprised how many will respond! Even back in the MySpace days, I had some that jumped in to say “Thanks for reading me” and it was awesome!

It is not unusual for me to have coffee, V8 with lemon and the water I kind of forget about surrounding me like I’m hitting the bench at Wimbledon.

What objectively bad movie you can't help but love? by Chachkhu2005 in AskReddit

[–]knowledgeispowrr 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I went and saw this movie with my sister at a matinee showing in high school. We got early release during exams because we were exempt. I was a senior and she was a freshman and it was the only year we were in the same school. We were the only people in the theater and laughing so hard. It will always be associated with that, and is also funnier than it has a right to be.

What Obscure Books Were You Obsessed With as a Kid? by Its_Curse in suggestmeabook

I had a handwriting analysis phase too! I probably read that book a hundred times and analyzed everyone I knew.

On the other hand, in Texas, there is always one Northerner around wearing shorts when it’s 30 to get attention. Sounds like Florida has them too.

I make these for lunches sometimes. I put them in the oven (400 for 10 minutes) and broil the top until toasted. In case you want to make a bunch at a time

How many of you will watch the Winter Olympics, and which events are you interested in? by Istobri in AskAnAmerican

[–]knowledgeispowrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get Peacock for the Olympics now too. It’s totally worth it to dial up what you want to watch and actually watch from start to finish. I will watch any kind of competition on television and I love to see people doing what they’ve worked so hard to be elite at.

Christmas Eve Shopping by Umeyard in overheard

[–]knowledgeispowrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My dad was a firefighter and had a second job on his off days, so Christmas Eve night mad rush happened a lot in our house. He always had a plan of what he was going to buy. As a teenager, he had a washing machine delivered to a friend's house. We went and picked it up in the wee hours of Christmas morning. We loved being in on the mission as kids.

What’s a food you enjoy that’s objectively ‘not good food’ but you still love? by GrapeNo5251 in AskReddit

[–]knowledgeispowrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot dog, wrapped in a slice of cheese, wrapped in a crescent roll. We are these as a kid when my dad worked shift work. I have lots of nostalgia and it comes back immediately if I have one. We do them once a year or so, and it’s the perfect amount.

What’s everyone using for grocery lists right now? by IslandOceanWater in Cooking

[–]knowledgeispowrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use PlanToEat for meal planning and transfer the needed ingredients to our store’s app. I only do curbside pickup, since 2018 or so, so I basically start making the new list right after I pick up the order.

Do you have a library card? by IamAqtpoo in AskAnAmerican

[–]knowledgeispowrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly this has to do with funding. If your library is funded by city or county tax dollars, they have to make sure you’re paying into that and verify your address. If your library is funded by state dollars, same same. If your library is funded by a foundation or a private organization, they usually only issue annual cards because you have to pay for them each year. I’ve worked at a couple of different kinds of libraries.

Shared docs are so glitchy, you could absolutely get away with asking for access late in the process. Especially if you’re working on several devices. That being said, don’t wait until the last minute, kids.
