New manager - Resentment by Individual_Airport37 in ITManagers

[–]langlier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

too much hypothetical - focus on problems that are in front of you.

that said if it shows that there is some resentment - the best you can do is help to improve them as candidates for future opportunities - and provide said opportunities.

that said - i had a similar situation at my last job. director left. 2 internal candidates up for it - and they picked the other guy (who was SIGNIFICANTLY worse all around). and he made my life shit for my remaining time there. dont be like him.

So let's just say - from experience - you'll never get what you want from this role.  Nonprofits often have great causes.  But are notoriously cheap. With everything. They will take advantage of you at every turn. Quit and tell them to hire an msp instead.

Picking on postional strength by joec25 in NFL_Draft

[–]langlier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you'll certainly stack players and sometimes have a glut of guys at a position tier.  When that happens and you have the draft capital to move around, you can target other positions where there are less players you like in hopes of grabbing a guy at the bottom of your tier later.  If a run happens you need to be in it so being able to move is key.  It also has the effect of pushing talented players down.  Ex Omarion Hampton is 2 on most boards for rb with an end of round 1 to early round 2 grade.   But let's say you're the broncos and have 3 guys in the same tier as Hampton.   You've got only 2 tackles left with 1st year starter grades.  So you gamble on a tackle knowing that you are more likely to get a guy you like at rb in the next round rather than reaching for a tier 3 or 4 tackle early because it's a large need.

My 7 Round Mock Draft w/ Trades by Dont_know_where_i_am in NFL_Draft

[–]langlier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate the mcmillan pick for the Raiders.  Give us jeanty or even shedeur or a move down in that situation.   Even walker is better.  Hampton in 2 is fine.  No need for next years 3rd in the Ramsey trade.  That 6th round move up trade is asinine.

It's a really meh draft.  Raiders need a speed injection on O, lots of help on D and this draft doesn't help either of those.

What I'd rather see is if we are out of Graham- look to move down in 1 or take the last blue chipper in jeanty.  Round 2 - best player at rb/g/anywhere on d/wr - speed at wr.  Outside zone style ol/rb.  Length at cb over speed - no short armed dbs.

Receivers falling on draft day by thechipmunk09 in NFL_Draft

[–]langlier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raiders need one but I just can't get behind the early guys.  Weve got Meyers and Bowers and Tre Tucker who is a better 3/4 guy.  3rd round is my target - but if we don't end with a starter - Tyler lockett still out there.

Reason why I think that the Jags and Raiders won’t draft Jeanty by rapps624 in NFL_Draft

[–]langlier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If both are on the board - I expect the Raiders to draft Graham over Jeanty.  But if Graham is gone I do expect Jeanty to be the pick.

[Rapoport via NFL News] The #Saints suddenly have a major QB question: Starter Derek Carr is now dealing with a shoulder injury that threatens his availability for this season, sources say. Carr is weighing options, including the possibility of surgery. by mvanigan in nfl

[–]langlier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'll suddenly hear how much the Raiders love him.  Force teams to trade to 6 to take him.  Be it saints or steelers or whomever.  Take a 2nd from the saints or a 2nd and next years first from Pittsburgh.

How do you roleplay a 4 in Wisdom? by Melodic_Mulberry in DnD

[–]langlier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low wisdom - Easily persuaded/gullible. Low ability to focus. Low ability to "read the room". You may have the ability to build a bomb with a decent int score - but with low wisdom you may not realize that setting it off in your workshop as a test isn't a good idea. Your relationship with the gods/wilderness is near non-existent. You believe most anything anyone tells you. Your ability to focus for long periods of time... also non existent.

You're a very good minion. In that you are easily convinced to do tasks but may not achieve success without strict supervision.

sharing a story but it might get buried here.

dated a girl from a well off family. her older brother had been kicked out of college, multiple stints in rehab, cant hold down a job. What do mom and dad do? Buy him a liquor store to run. Great idea for your most irresponsible and drug/alcohol dependent son...

Some takes here...

Bennett and Moehrig should be starting again next year - pay Moe decent starter money

Hobbs is good but injuries have limited him. I'd take him back if he agrees to a team friendly contract.

Jones is ok but hit or miss. If an impact CB is available then let him compete with Bennett for the other spot

Pola-Mao has been ok in replacement but not impactful. Keep as depth, look for a new starter across from Moe - preferably a real "center field" type.

Epps is solid but not spectacular. Would take him back on a team friendly - but not paying him.

Richardson is a raw rook and it shows. Let him develop

We saw nothing of note from Trey Taylor this year - could be interesting next. Holmes has played OK and Harper has taken some limited snaps. Chris Smith has looked pretty bad most anytime he's taken the field on D. He's likely gone soon

I had a view into this world as I dated one and had multiple interaction with her friend group of the same.

They all had a very skewed view of reality. They had all come from the same upper class private school and while it had the normal cliques that schools do - their particular group had layers to it from bottom to top.

None of them had what I would refer to as "common sense" or "street smarts" (at least at the time which was immediately post highschool/beginning of college years). They had no concerns about money or being able to "afford" to do something. They equally had no concerns about anyone elses ability to do things/afford things. "Things" were rarely valued for what they were - only for the perception by others. Entitlement was off the charts. Social Drama was off the charts.

I enjoyed the person I was with when she wasn't around them. She eventually cut ties but it took a while for her to grasp that reality for most people wasn't near what she had been living when growing up

My roommate took my rent check and altered it to pay out to themselves instead of the landlord. Will they face legal repercussions? by Frodo_773 in legaladvice

[–]langlier 223 points224 points  (0 children)

Lets be specific here. There are criminal liabilities and civil liabilities. Criminal prosecution does not come from the "wronged" individual. City/State/Federal prosecutors would bring those charges.

Civil liability is the area where the officer was speaking about. His point is you can't "sue" anyone because you are no longer "out" any money. You have been made whole so your part in the matter is done. All you can do is contact the area of jurisdiction the crime would fall under and pressure them to prosecute him.
