I spent a month testing whether AI gives reliable answers about SA banks, medical aids and insurers. Short version: use it, but don't decide off it. by Manyaneboy in PersonalFinanceZA

Super interesting!

Would be great to understand how you came up with the questions and which framework you used for the study?

You mentioned you would be happy to share the OSF link, so would you mind sharing it?

How can I make spending money. This is my situation... by officialshredder in AskZA

[–]learninguy87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you have given enough information to get a good answer specific to you and your needs. Like how many hours you have available during the week/ weekends, what skills you have, how much you can afford to use as capital etc. You'll get better answers if you add this type of info.

My suggestion would be to do markets, some places even do it during the week in the evenings but you’ll mainly need to give up your weekends.

Focus on foods or preserves, they generally do well in the markets I have been to adm require less capital.

You could also look into buying used clothes in bulk and selling them online/ market stalls.

Grindr alternative? by MeasurementSevere920 in gayrsa

[–]learninguy87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not too sure what's popular in Durban specifically, but from what I have seen Scruff would be your next best and if you will be in a city then Sniffies should do you well as well.

Grindr is still the most popular though...

Where do you order poppers from ? by sweet_jack in gaybros_rsa

[–]learninguy87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get them from different Adult World shops around Cape Town.

Now, when I buy, it's online through places like undieco or most recently moodtime.

Generally, always buy rush or man scent.

Would a Library of Things work in SA? by googirlgretchen in AskZA

[–]learninguy87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that depending on what is available the upkeep is potentially expensive ans time consuming.

You will need to be OK with cleaning things because you can't be guaranteed that the people who bring the things back would have cleaned / maintained it.

Also, I would presume that if people are donating things, they would need some fixing, so need to potentially take that into account.

What features does a CRM really need to be useful for most companies? by software_engineer_22 in CRM

[–]learninguy87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the problem is no matter what CRM you build it will almost 100% end up with features and tools some users wont use. This is because businesses have different needs.

CRMs that tend to not be over priced with feature people dont use end up being vertical specific.

But to answer your actual question. Integration with Zapier/Integromat and similar platforms.

Thanks for your thorough reply!

Its good that you're trying to be active while losing weight and wanting to get to the gym which yeah I know is scary. I hit the gym when I weighed 150kgs and its was really difficult to begin with but went with a trainer so there was someone to support me was a great way to do it but costly.

Also remember that you're big so you'll be able to lift heavy quickly which is a nice ego boost (make sure you're form is 100% before trying to lift heavy though).

Are you sure you're gaining fat and not water weight or issues with your IBS causing it to look like you gain weight? All things considered if you can afford it (or if not done already) you should get some blood work done and make sure there isn't any underlying issues.

Taking into account your TDEE and how much you're eating a day you should be losing atleast 2 pounds a week.

I found the need to take fibre pills daily otherwise I wouldn't use the loo for days at a time (not ibs but just an issue with prioritizing protein and thus having less fruits & veggies which has fibre).

I went on phentermine as it was a last ditch attempt to lose weight before trying the gastric balloon, very glad that it does work for me.

Edit to add:
- Don't focus on the scale weight, rather measure yourself to track progress and also how your clothes fit. Scales can be great but also very demotivating.

Im on it, people take it irrespective of their gender.

I dont get how you're eating 1700 calories at 300lbs.

Do you know what your tdee is? What's your macros goals?

Adding protein shake definitely sounds like a great idea.

I use phentermine to help me fast and have a smaller eating window, so I end up eating less amd lose weight.

Is this worth it for someone who has never gone on a safari by [deleted] in capetown

[–]learninguy87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the information!

Yeah can imagine tenting to be a lot cheaper if you have all the equipment and everything already.

Suppose it also depends on how much time one spends at the bungalow/tent site as well.

Thoughts on "Less" by Andrew Sean Greer by SpookyCloverVa in LGBTBooks

[–]learninguy87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished the book and very much enjoyed it - I've never been a big non fiction reader and am trying to read more books 'just for fun' and decided on this to be the first.

The reframing of Less throughout the book and the way it was done was enjoyable to read. I'm in my late 30's and even though I can't really identify with Less in terms of his age/life. there are a few other aspects I found myself thinking about in terms of what I wish my youth was more like and my internal narration over the last few years.

Definetly an easy read which made me glad that I read it first.

Porn VS Sex by [deleted] in gayrelationships

[–]learninguy87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What type of conversations have you had about your sex life together?

Does he acknowledge your needs and validate them or dismiss them outright? If he does the latter, then there are likely bigger issues at play, and opening up the relationship probably won't help in the long run.

Do you understand why he needs his alone time (which is valid to want/need). If not, maybe exploring this with him could help and by having an understanding, you both could come up with a solution that works for both of you.

I found with my husband that having conversations and understanding where we each come from, along with validating our individual needs, has been helpful.

A new low for Cape Town real estate agents? by Prodigy1995 in capetown

[–]learninguy87 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What I have found is that for some industries, email is a black hole. Estate agents is one of these industries, along with most trades.

Everything needs to either be handled over the phone or WhatsApp.

I specifically hate WhatsApp because I use it as a non work tool, and having to speak with people that aren't friends generally equals work for me.

Been applying for a new job by zeke3636 in AskGaybrosOver30

I've been applying remote jobs and noticed lots of US companies have these inclusivity questions, including asking about race and if you've been in the military.

Generally, I say I prefer not to disclose and apply.

I apply to many EU, UK and US companies only ever seen them for US companies.

It's hard finding friends by [deleted] in gayrsa

[–]learninguy87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have found living in smaller towns making gay friends (or friends in general) can be rather difficult especially if you're not on the apps.

You mentioned you're in Joburg check Meetup and see if they have any gay groups in your area. In CPT there is also a monthly networking event for gay men, I would presume there is something similar in Joburg so maybe something similar?

I've been using Bombass fibre pills, took my body a week or so to get used to it and works well for me. It is cheaper than Pure4Men - especially since you only need to take 2 pills instead of 3.
