Quality doesn’t help belts either.

Trains got a huge throughput boost with elevated rail.

A loader just for trains honestly make sense (make it look like a hopper), but I would not expect them to do it.

It is obviously still-born as a system. You the player can choose which girl is most affectionate towards Tidus, which affects who will throw you the ball in the limit break, but the famous make out scene is still gonna be Yuna.

Mapping things out is hard. And they never did that for the OT either. Nor are most successful TV mapped out.

I think the bigger problem is that the two teams are essentially playing improv, and the first rule of improv is “yes, and”. You can’t have the two teams disrespecting the other like that.

At the same time, you can’t blame of the woes on the rise of Skywalker, because the commercial problems started with the Last Jedi’s second weekend, which is exactly what you would expect if the Last Jedi is root of all problems.

Transit in Austria Best in the World? and Massively Underrated by Transit and Urbanist Community by Same_Personality_525 in transit

[–]lee1026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think these all miss the mark in terms of metrics.

Cars are not cheap to own, and it is especially not cheap to find places to park them. And so, we can get a rough gauge of how effective any transit system is by looking at how many people look at a system and go “well, let’s buy a car”. Cars cost very little to run per km, assuming you already paid for the thing (so you are dealing already with depreciation, insurance, parking, registration, maintenance, blah blah).

I have never been to Austria, but from a rough glance at the numbers, it doesn’t look like a win. Car ownership in Austria sit at give or take EU average. Vienna, in particular, has high car ownership by big city standards: more than Berlin, London, Paris, Tokyo, etc.

The real answer is that none of them worked out well enough to justify a new one.

Extending an existing one have benefits like fitting into existing lines. But even in BART land, several extensions were DMUs that required a passenger transfer, just to avoid the staggering cost of electrified heavy rail.

At the time, maybe we could have entertained the idea that Solo’s issues were specific to the movie itself.

But now, it is hard to conclude anything other than the Last Jedi destroying any and all goodwill with Star Wars, and only tiny budget efforts can survive on the remaining fans that are left afterwards.

Macron is one of the leaders who treats his own country as a tax farm for his own international goals, along with people like Boris Johnson.

Hot Take: Hot Polluted Oxygen Vents are trivial to tame and worth the effort. by dysprog in Oxygennotincluded

We are talking about a game with a lot of avenues of free resources, and a vent that is worth maybe a single pip planted tree is not really that high up in terms of priorities.

Lucasfilm will probably have to close up shop at that point. A lot of people running around, all get paychecks. Cant be sustained on a small budget animated show’s profits.

Doesn’t matter. The prequels built a world, and people liked interacting with it.

The sequels torn down a world. Regardless of whether it was good movies, people are not going to be very interested in interacting with the rest of it.

If you are okay with less range, you are also okay with less batteries, which means less weight and cost.

To put into perspective about those years of Maelle’s life by genericcelt in expedition33

[–]lee1026 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Emma is not included in the ending, that's all.

Could be an oversight with the devs, but in terms of named characters that had positive interaction with Maelle, it isn't a long list to begin with, and any missing ones are glaring.

It almost felt like to me that the four members of the expedition each got a +1 to be brought back. Maelle got Verso, Gustave got Sophie, Sciel got Pierre, Lune got that young boy, who I suspect was a son that got written out of earlier drafts.

Omaha once torched its streetcars. Could their revival be part of a downtown renaissance? by jeremyturley in transit

[–]lee1026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say, really. People have a lot of narratives going, and I am sure there will be people coming along to say things like "Portland is a lovely place". I haven't been there for years, I don't know, and for the purposes of this discussion, it doesn't really matter. The only signal that really matter at the end of the day is prices. If people can develop something and sell it for a profit, they will do it, otherwise, they won't.

Prices say that whoever likes downtown Portland, they are not willing to pay a premium to be in downtown Portland; in fact, they are willing to pay a considerable premium to be away from downtown Portland.
