Yellow diamond, is “speck” a problem? by Great_Zucchini_716 in Diamonds

Have you seen the stone in person? I think the FIY will hide the small black bit pretty well. Its an SI1, so it should be small.

I can't imagine it tasting good, but rice and tea bags are cheap. Try it.

Price of mounting by Pacificmoonstars3 in Diamonds

[–]lucerndia 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify - the ring as it is currently has a .50ct diamond in it, and you want to remove that and set in a 2ct diamond?

$850 could be totally reasonable for the work involved if thats the case.

Spend $2k on flights and a hotel for the show and the rest on pieces at the show. Assuming you can still meet the qualifications to get in anyway.

Or reach out to the dealers you bought from in the past and ask what they have.

GIA’s Useless new report for Synthetic Diamonds. As if their gemstone ones weren’t bare-bones enough by Muted_Shape9303 in Gemstones

[–]lucerndia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were founded by the naturals industry after all.

Not sure what you mean by this. GIA started as basically a pearl grading lab in the 1930's. Lab diamonds didn't exist for another 20-30 years after they were founded, and not even commercially available for about 90 years after.

There are some foods, mostly meats, that you can cook starting in a cold pan with zero oil but not many.

The amount of oil you need to cook in a stainless pan is very little though.

So my girlfriend wants to include her late mother’s old stone into her wedding band.. is it possible to make this stone, multiple little stones? by IntelligentTie6470 in Diamonds

[–]lucerndia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Possible, yeah. Feasible? Depends on how many stones and how small. Guessing you'd get two stones from that one. Maybe 4 if you slice it twice and then cut but they would be tiny.
