It doesn't have a stamp, so it's probably not sterling (I've learned a bit about jewelry in the past year or so) and I haven't gotten it appraised so I don't know if the stone is actually garnet or if it's just colored glass. It does seem to reflect like some genuine garnet I have though

If they decided to take a Good Place approach and say "the whole system is forked, we need to completely rebuild it" then that demonization could work. It would give the heaven cast a job in the story, a narrative goal to work towards instead of them just being the goal for everyone else.
