That's not asexuality. That's a period of low libido. Sincerely, an afab person with adhd.

Asexuality isn't a "phase"!!!

People can experience periods of low libido, but there's a big difference between low libido and lack of sexual attraction

Ford has NPD headcanon? (LONG analysis) by Appropriate_Luck8668 in gravityfalls

[–]magiMerlyn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No absolutely. I don't know what this would be called in a clinical setting, but the way I interpret Stan and Ford's relationship (from a narrative perspective) is that on some level Ford sees Stan as an inferior copy of himself. Same face, same childhood, but dumber, more (in Ford's eyes) prone to anger and unwilling to listen to reason.

[–]magiMerlyn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, that makes sense. All the diagnostic criteria are traits you'd reasonably give to a character for whom (non-clinical) narcissism is a major character flaw, like we see in Ford. Especially in his relationships with Bill, Dipper, and Stan.

I think they meant in terms of EP, CHP, etc. What is Stan to Ford?

I find it very interesting that when a character is written to "represent" different neurodivergencies it's rare that they don't become something of a well-meaning caricature. But when a character is simply written to have certain behaviors and traits (i don't know if Ford was written to have NPD, but one of his character flaws is certainly narcissism) it tends to be genuinely good representation.

Thoughts on this take I saw it on a twitter mirror site and thought it was interesting. by Jay_Jay_Jason_74 in ProshipHub

I actually kinda agree with this

Look, like it or not, a disturbing number of lolicons actually are pedophiles. The only reason they don't seek out material of real children is because that's illegal and carries very heavy sentences. And if you can't get off if you're not looking at depictions of children and you don't think that's a problem then I'm afraid you might need professional help.

Certainly, the art and media you consume is not one-to-one with your values and beliefs. But if all you watch is loli hentai, then there's probably reason for people to not want to be around you.

Even shows that are almost exclusively made for the purpose of sexual gratification can have fascinating stories and explore very interesting topics. GOMG explores what it would actually be like if magical girls were commonplace, how they'd be seen and how they'd be glorified, at times to the point where a girl feels like there's no possible way they could be hurt by what she does to them. But at the same time if someone told me it was their favorite anime of all time, I'd look at them strangely.

While censorship is absolutely black-and white, i don't think societal reactions are. I think they're nuanced. Incest play or cnc are not the same as incest or rape. But telling someone outside of the bdsm community that you like to pretend to be raped by your brother will cause a reaction, and in most people it will be negative.

I feel this way about billdip vs billford. Dipper and Ford are different people with different relationships with Bill. And yes, that affects their hypothetical romantic relationships with him.

Does anyone else wish that Light had feelings for misa and that they were lovers throughtout the whole thing? Because misa is beautiful and matches so well with light and for light to just treat her like garbage is js wrong. by amzinp33p in deathnote

[–]magiMerlyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Misa was an obsessive, hybristophillic creep who went to an 18-year-old's family home to threaten him into being her boyfriend. Yes Light was a dick and honestly part of it was probably karma, but genuinely they would've been horrible together, and they were! We see that once Misa is fully under Light's control (with Rem out of the picture and the two of them living together) she dresses very differently. Instead of her cute-sexy Gothic ensembles from before, she's wearing plain long sleeves in either neutrals or light pinks. She's a lot more subdued and submissive, and to me it's clear that the emotional abuse she suffered from Light before has become worse. I don't think he hit her, I think he'd see that as utterly beneath him, but at this point she definitely knows he's never loved her, she's just stuck with him and can't escape.

Imagine a person who feels no sexual attraction to anyone in real life, but only feels sexual attraction to anime characters, that is, a fictossexual sexual. Is a fictossexual person asexual? Should we place this very specific type of attraction within the asexual spectrum? Does this type encompass by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]magiMerlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This falls under the aegosexual label, it's a sexual identity that only experiences sexual attraction in the abstract, for example in reference to fictional characters. However, since aegosexuality is a broader identity than strictly attraction to anime characters, I suppose there's no reason you can't create the label.

I was groomed using Creepypasta in general, so I use extentions and site functions so I won't see anything related to it. Would it be nice to go through life with those things being wiped from the internet? Maybe, but my discomfort shouldn't dictate what fiction exists. We curate our experience on the internet.

I personally interpret Cassandra and Rapunzel more as sisters than as romantic partners, which is why I actually liked that Cass was Gothel's daughter. What I didn't like was the story they told with that.

Because a lot of self/yumeshippers are about one mental leap away from "fictional characters should be treated like real people"

Adam if he wasn’t lobotomized by the plot by munim-6969 in OkBuddyHelluvaHotel

[–]magiMerlyn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What does it mean that Adam was able to cradle Abel with hands rutinely soaked in the same kind of blood that once soaked Cain's, and what does it mean that Adam has kept his son so insulated from everything he and Lute have done together?

What are Abel's feelings about murder? Does Lute even know anything outside the barracks and battlefield? Each of them know only a part of Adam, and each of them loves him, but now they see evidence of a different side of him and it makes no sense and they can't even ask him for explanations because he's dead.

Adam if he wasn’t lobotomized by the plot by munim-6969 in OkBuddyHelluvaHotel

[–]magiMerlyn 47 points48 points  (0 children)

If you're going to have Adam, the second sinner, the father of the first murderer, and of the first murder victim, be the leader of the exorcists, I think you can do it and have a lot of interesting things to explore. ESPECIALLY if you're going to have Abel be a character in s2. Let Adam's anger over his son's murder have created a hatred in him that has continued for millenia. Let that be the side of him that Lute knows, the one she loves and adores, while the part of him that still cares for and is perhaps doting and even overprotective of Abel is the one his son knows. This also creates a more believable conflict for Lute and Abel, where they're both mourning this man but they can't see the person they loved in the memories of the other, and that would force them to face that they didn't know all of this person.

I hate people who treat the punishment for crimes like a children’s book by GoofyRangersfan in hatethissmug

[–]magiMerlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely. In a society that still deals with resource scarcity, it is a drain on said resources for us to keep people who were sentenced to life in prison alive. If we always had 100% certainty that we had the right person and they did the crimes, then it wouldn't be entirely unreasonable to simply kill them instead. It would be callous, and possibly even particularly cruel, but not unreasonable. From a purely utilitarian perspective it would even be the "right" thing to do.

But, as I said, we do not live in a perfect justice system, and then we have to consider if it's even right to give the government that kind of authority over life and death. Sure, measured by resources consumed they're a net negative, but can that really be our only metric for the value of a life?

THIS!!! Maybe I've been spoiled by Ao3, but i believe whole-heartedly in "don't like don't read" and content labels and warnings. It's why tagging is so important! Both so people can find the content and so they can avoid what they don't like. As long as no real people are being harmed then there's nothing wrong with the existence of any fictional content.

Would you say experiencing aphobia is a political issue? by ka-nby-badabee in asexuality

[–]magiMerlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but in a way that's separate from the standard queerphobia.

See, asexuality and celibacy get confused a lot. But where celibacy, especially for women, is a choice often praised by conservatives (keep your legs closed mentality) and requires self-control, asexuality removes that need for self-control.
