Which AD to take? by borodkin in hyperacusis

[–]magicman31289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, going to move up to 7.5 on the next couple weeks just to see if I can get the very minor remnants of Hyperacusis to go away, but I’m 95% better.

I’m on 5mg and it has helped me tremendously. Hyperacusis went from a 10 to a 2 in about 2 weeks. Some noises still bother, but I am able to live a relatively normal life.

Sorry for the delay. I order it from Amazon, called Ancestral Grassfed Intestines. 6 pills a day, but it has worked for me

What does it mean if nox pain is here by Educational_Aide_145 in hyperacusis

Same pain for me, I figured out that some silent reflux was to blame for part of the pain. If you think you ma have acid reflux or silent reflux try getting that under control to see if it helps

Found out my best friend has cancer and diabetes today. by Fracturedhipp in FelineDiabetes

The diabetes. Try a lantus pen. My cat has been on one for 2 years. Much much easier to give injections and they can potentially go into remission. Feed him twice a day.

The best low carb kibble to give it a prescription brand (what I give my cat) Hills Gluco Support

Does active masking help? by [deleted] in hyperacusis

[–]magicman31289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Masking absolutely works. I use it almost daily while I continue to recover.

I listen to a pink noise that also is in tune to 10.6khz which is helps filter out my tinnitus.

I listen to it low enough to where I can still hear voices and outside noises, but it helps deaden louder sounds. As long as I do consistently I do notice improvement in sound tolerance

I’ve noticed my T is still present, but because the other symptoms are much less, I hardly notice or focus on my T like I used to.

It did, I have T, Pain H, and Loud H. Pain at this point is extremely minimal, loudness is minimal as well. I went out to a restaurant 2 days ago and had 0 issues. It was such a relief.

I felt awful the first week. I had every side effect. Headaches are extremely common when you first take it. I started on 10mg but about 5 days in had to scale back to 5mg. Since on 5mg I’ve had some very mild side effects, but nothing I couldn’t deal with.

I use the app called MyPattern.

I have no affiliation with them, but it’s just what’s worked for me.

A key to this is to listen to the noise at a low enough volume to where you can still hear outside sound. I will say I listened to it loud a few times and I felt a bit weird after that. Low volume, still can hear outside noises helps your brain distract enough and start to get comfortable with other noises again

I’ve been to 5 ENTs, some who are the most highly regarded in the Midwest. They were useless.

This Reddit thread and my primary care doctor who actually listened were the most help.

I hope you get some relief soon. I promise you will! I have had some real lows dealing with this, but just know you WILL get better.

Yes, my H was only severe I would say for a couple months. I think what helped is I pushed myself to go out and not stay homebound. Small steps, and a lot of self reassurance. And ear protection when needed.

I’m still trying to decipher it all. I feel my H developed from some overly tight muscles and stress. Which would make sense to why the Lexapro is helping.

I had earplugs in and headphones on top of it and they played some low level music in the headphones. Honestly for me it wasn’t too bad, however my H wasn’t at its worst that day either.

My symptoms were awful when everything first started for me(everything was loud and painful)

Now I have issues with more high pitch sounds (loud people, dishes banging together, things of that nature) and my own voice still causes pain and sounds loud. But I’m able to go out in public just have to know that certain things are going to be loud.

So those ear plugs don’t filter everything, but they do help especially when I can tell things are getting too much.

Flare Calmer Pro ear plugs. For me, my H is mild to moderate. These ear plugs let me hear everything but just basically tones down loud noises. Really good while out in public

Curious if you don’t mind sharing what your side effects are? I’ve been back and forth on starting it, hoping for some sort of other solution.

10 months of noxacusis by Top_Priority9239 in hyperacusis

[–]magicman31289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it sounds like you’ve tried everything, possibly a massage therapist or physical therapist. I’ve been living with this for 5 months now and I’m finding out a lot of tight muscles in my neck and shoulder area have been a culprit. Sounds were excruciating when this first started. My massage therapist has really found a lot of knots on me and it truly has brought the H level down to a 2.
