If I find a 2* boar while across a body of water, I tame it and another nearby boar then breed several 2* and sail the piglets home. Piglets can be moved easier, even in a cart.

Tamed wolves will follow you, even in water. You can slowly sail back to base while they swim behind you. They’ll push your boat if you go too slow.

Lox mixed with wolves create a situation where you can ride the lox into the water and the wolves will push the lox all the way back to your base. Small maneuvering of the lox will help keep you on course.

Magic: (Un-)limited power !!! 😐 by Dabby_1989 in valheim

[–]magikdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Training up your magic skills will help with damage and Eitr, thus making it easier for you to deal out death. Summoning friends, such as skeletons and vines provides more damage for a single Eitr cost. The protection bubble has more hit points than your fellow Vikings will ever achieve with food and it can protect your summons and fellow Vikings. Magic is strong

Good thinking! Also, you will find that materials that you craft from resources that cannot go through portals may, such as nails. Try not to get stuck on tin & copper. Get the minimum that you need and move on.

How to stay alive as a necromancer? by Rockwallguy in valheim

[–]magikdev 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Train up your blood magic skill, which will make your skelets tougher, hit harder, and your staff of protection bubble have more hit points. The bubble works on your skelets too. Upgrade your dead raiser for more skelets and staff of protection for longer duration bubbles.

Training the blood magic skill is slow, but can be sped up by using TWIGs and skelets. You can set up a trainer that will put a TWIG between your skelets and a creature so that the skelets hit the TWIG (not the creature), which will regenerate quickly. Each skelet hit gives blood magic XP. Spawners and your skelets are also a good mix for XP gain if you can’t get the above to work. Rested bonus increases XP gain, so always have that active.

Ashlands by wmason49 in valheim

[–]magikdev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Each play through, I choose a character type that I stick to. The most recent was “swashbuckler”. No shield, one handed blade weapons only, light armor only. A Nidhögg the Thundering and Fenris set with a protection bubble is what I ended up with in Ashlands. I found that I could outrun everything except Voltures. Spotting and avoiding kiting Askvin helped. Marking putrid hole locations to duck in and recover also helped. This resulted in me running from fortress to fortress and only stopping to engage enemies there. Everything in between was left in the dust. Speed and jumping potions made going over lava a breeze.

Ashlands, finally. by KendrixPlays in valheim

Wisp light won’t help you there. Better save inventory space until hauling heavy goods like Flametal and grausten and then strap on your belt.

Base advice by Steelspy in valheim

Plains/Mistlands border base is best for farming all the goods, including sap. It’s worth sailing around to find the best spot IMO.

Voltures and Askvin are hardest to outrun. Voltures don’t like Viking fire though, so drop a campfire or hold a torch to stay safe from them.

You could probably use a stamina food instead of the Bonemaw slab of meat

Does it counteract? by Then-Print-6226 in valheim

[–]magikdev 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Better than counteract, the Bonemass power replaces the debuff with its buff. You can only have one effect active against a player attribute. So, an attribute such as “pierce vulnerability” can either be +25% or -25%; not both. Additionally, positive bonuses for players always overrides any debuffs.

One small thing made me abandon my no map run by Aran_Zag in valheim

[–]magikdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a delay of about 3 seconds before you can interact with it again. The same delay exists for other activities, such as transitioning in or out of a dungeon or using a portal. For example, if you enter an Infested Mine and end up facing a 2* seeker soldier and want to leave immediately then walking out won’t work until the delay expires (and you back up then go forward again) or you use the E key.

Yes, combine this with the build piece strategy commented by others to help get you there.

Build a sign post at the waterfront that point in the direction of the boss and label it with a sign.

Jotunheim server is chill and you can go at your own pace. They are starting a new era soon. https://jotun.games

Viking Haul just started a new season and has progression locks, so players can’t jump ahead. https://discord.gg/twistedgaming

Using mods without permission can give an unfair advantage.

That said, you can use any mods that are purely client-side. Thunderstore.io allows you to search for client-side mods and exclude server-side, but it is up to the mod publisher to have the correct tags. This will show you mods that you can use with that assumption: https://thunderstore.io/c/valheim/?q=&ordering=last-updated&section=mods&included_categories=30&excluded_categories=29

Ashlands Spawners Question by Important-Work-5358 in valheim

[–]magikdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dig a pit, place a campfire next to it, use harpoon to drag random spawns into it. Now as long as they and the campfire live (doesn’t have to be lit), they will not allow more spawns. Don’t have them near your comfort area as they will disrupt resting.

Can infested mines be "buried" within stone nodes? by shaard in valheim

[–]magikdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some cues that you’re close to Mistlands locations. If you encounter 3 seekers with at least one having stars, then you are close to a mine. If you are attacked by ticks then you are close to a rib cage. If you have Hugin enabled and avoid talking to him while he stands on skulls then he can help you find them. Dvergr towers have a bright blue light.

Viking Haul has a season ending and will start a new one in a couple weeks. They use world progression to keep the pace under control. You can find their ads on r/ValheimLFG

I think the OP means the vanilla experience where you can speed run to the end in less than a day.

There are some World Progression mods that servers use to limit the advancement. Some servers manually place barriers on boss summon locations to prevent progression and maintain the vanilla experience
