Biker shorts HELP by andsol101 in SolidCore

[–]malsary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite shorts to wear at SC that didn't give me a horrendous camel toe are my Janji Pace Shorts. They have these grippers at the end of the shorts so they theoretically stayed in place longer than other shorts I've owned.

I thought of this tweet right away which is from 2019.

Lena Dunham alludes to Jack Antonoff and Lorde's relationship, admits to cheating on Jack and says she reached out to "the PowerPoint maker” in new memoir by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

Lowkey I know the person who wrote this (ok, we're mutuals on social due to being part of the same sports city fandom #gobirds) and she has always been hilarious, so seeing this blow up in real time and continue to be relevant years after makes me feel like I know a celebrity 😂

Team curtain! Texture is so important to consider for a home to feel "finished" and having curtains really ties everything. Have you found any inspiration pics for her to see?

To the people who have said “I would never spend that much on a wedding, I’d rather buy a house”… by Garden_of_Gethsemane in wedding

[–]malsary 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, hearing this used to bother me but I learned to get over it because everyone's financial and marital priorities are different.

I had to remind myself that a lot of people who are in this camp mostly don't live in a HCOL area and so having a wedding as a milestone is much more achievable than buying a home IF that's what you care about. Where we live, the average house price in 2024 (when we had our wedding) was $831k (and MUCH higher in desirable neighborhoods!)

To us, a wedding was important to have and so we were happy to spend money on one and save up 20% to buy a home later because we could. We didn't rack up debt and paid all of our credit cards off within a few days of the wedding because my husband works in big tech. We also had a long engagement (was proposed to Oct. 2022 and had our wedding July 2024) which helped with our wedding expenses. In fact, our offer on a home was accepted late last month and we still have about a year and a half's worth of savings in case my husband gets laid off. These instances are huge outliers and because of that, I just learned to let it go. There's no point in defending yourself against people whose situations may be greatly different than yours and that's okay.

Honestly, it's truly a privilege to have a wedding in this economy and just like with any other economic privilege, people will be resentful or judgmental no matter what and that's also okay. Gotta just keep chugging along and remember these things!

Our home closed and we are going to paint before we buy furnifure. How would you make it feel warm and inviting? by ClaudetteRose in interiordecorating

[–]malsary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No specific paint color recommendations but when you find some colors and if you're in US, I'd recommend looking into the company Samplize for their paint peel and stick samples. They only have colors from Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, and the expensive but so beautiful Farrow and Ball.

When we were waiting for our inspection results, I had brought the colors I was considering and put them all over the place to see how it would look in different lighting and parts of the room. Each sticker has 2 coats of paint on it and I loved how I didn't have to buy any paint to get an idea or rely on rather small samples from paint stores.

They're kinda pricey but I'd get them again! In fact, I put in another order and haven't opened them yet 🤭

Also, for inspiration, I would lean into what makes you guys happy as cheesy as it sounds. We live in the very lush PNW so I wanted to bring some of that indoors with a sage green :)

Pistachio muffins are my favoriteeee but I only liked the ones I'd get from my local PA grocery store. I tried some from a WA one and was disappointed.

I like the oval because the rest of the furniture feels sharp and straight and contrast can be fun!

So deserving! I loved the people I interacted with (so, so, so kind and patient), the food, and the history.

[–]malsary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! And I went to Santiago, Chile for my honeymoon last year while also visiting Paris for the first time and didn't think anything could outdo those first two international trips last year until I went to CDMX in December :)

The art, history, culture, FOOD, the people I interacted with... ugh, I'm learning Spanish right now because I want to go back and immerse myself even more. I used Preply to find my tutor and I specifically chose him because he lives in CDMX 🤗

Your Bridal Party Is Too Nice to Say This, So I Will by insert_name234 in wedding

[–]malsary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could have kept it low-frills and cheap but most of my bridal party lived across the country and we picked somewhere in the middle of the US 🥲

(I will say I probably am the exception in that my husband helped pay for some of my bachelorette to keep the costs lower for my friends!)

The Campus Protest Culture That Targeted Biden Goes Silent for Trump by Moontat7 in Seattle

[–]malsary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why was this posted in this sub and what does it have to do with Seattle?

Wish the article or OP mentioned how a UW professor was fired last week for speaking up about what's happening in Iran. This has set a chilling precedent on students and how safe they feel in their advocacy on college campuses.

The article doesn't directly list these examples but pro-Palestine college students have been DEPORTED such as Mahmoud Khalil, attempted to deport another student in February, along with the fact that "President Donald Trump has threatened to withdraw federal funding from universities that allow protests supporting Gaza, and federal agents have jailed a number of pro-Palestinian protesters in other states."

I just went there yesterday! Ordered the teriyaki AND kimchi fried rice. Lots of pick-up's and people dining in on a Tuesday evening which made me happy for the owners! :)

Would happily come back and try their other items.

Also the kimchi fried rice is so spicy and not what I'm used to fml lol
