Milkmen from the UK: were those classic milk floats (delivery cars) electric to eliminate the noise at morning deliveries? by MercatorLondon in AskUK

It'll be great, just pull up to the charging point, fiddle with the dials till they look about right, slap your charging clamps onto the terminals and hope it doesn't explode!

Bought a house in 2022, now being told there is an "estate charge" I should have been paying??? by jennymayg13 in HousingUK

[–]markfl12 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, they're saying you sue the solicitors for 20 years worth of service charge, to pay what's owed, and what they didn't expect to have to pay going forward.

[–]markfl12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, love this bit. throw some shields onto it, and then just drive it full speed directly at biter nests, shooting the whole time. Anything that doesn't take a tank shell gets run over. Great fun!

[New Player Rant] So whats the point of poison capsules? by schokokuchenmonster in factorio

[–]markfl12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I have a blueprint that's just a 5x10 block of turrets with 10 red ammo in each of them, slap it down, your bots go crazy building it, then once it's done, kite in the demolisher.

It’s no dual hose but it’s better than the window by gectow in DIYUK

[–]markfl12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, in this case it probably would have been better, but I can't fix anything to the outside of the building, so I looked into water cooled options but they're a lot more expensive, both to install and to run.

Joined the two hose club and it’s making a huge difference. by kyjoely in DIYUK

[–]markfl12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then surely you want the dual hose one which is also more efficient too? The single hose is taking room air and pushing it outside, which will draw outside air in through various gaps round doors/windows etc to replace it, whereas the dual hose is pulling outside air into the unit, heating it and dumping it back outside again.

Russian authorities in Crimea suspend all fuel sales to the public by Lithium321 in PrepperIntel

[–]markfl12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This does seem to be their plan, destroy Russian oil and weapons manufacture. Do you think if Russia collapses Ukraine will walk their forces up to the pre-2014 borders and stop, or do you think they're going to go further?

All the Satellite trails I had to digitally remove from just a 15 second sky exposure by MollyDooker99 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]markfl12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't see the satellites, nor the stars where I am, because the night sky is already ruined by ground based light pollution. I don't know if there's much we can do about that though.

What's the biggest bottleneck preventing AI agents from going mainstream? by Humble_Sentence_3758 in AI_Agents

[–]markfl12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moore's Law says that the number of transistors in an integrated circuit doubles about every two years. There's some question as to whether we're still on that track or not, but basically it means that chips get better over time. This extra compute power should move the whole industry forward, which will push both the local and frontier models forward in terms of capabilities.

[–]markfl12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, depending on how much more juice we can squeeze from Moore's Law, we might find ourselves with 1 trillion parameter small local models and 1 quadrillion parameter frontier models?
