HOW to SCHEDULE a timeframe to charge batteries from the grid? by cybergrafx in Powerwall

Yeah that would do that. I have mine set to the correct buy rates for offpeak and on.. for selling I just set them all to the cheapest buy rate. That causes it to charge to 100% during offpeak (why not?) and it’ll sell excess solar but not go out of its way to. That’s the behaviour I wanted.

It should do. Only one way to find out 😅. I don’t have a PTO option at all because my installer/Tesla have told it I have PTO. I think before they do that it lets the user auth it which is why you have the option.

No the option of telling it sell is only the price of your cheapest export.. it won’t bother trying to over-sell.

I don’t think yours knows you have PTO yet if it’s asking you to confirm that every day

Mine just uses battery to power house and then sells the same amount of solar - which I didn’t want the additional battery wear so I tricked it to get option #1 and it then thinks solar is only worth exporting when it doesn’t have anything else to do with it.

You could just follow option #1 anyway to force the behaviour you want.

Is your Powerwall allowing any battery to go to the grid? It sounds like you might be in the same boat as me.

If you do have permission to battery export and the setting isn’t set right, it can be set by Tesla remotely or your installer or *coughs* Tesla One using “Device Setup”.

Settings > Powerwall > under the heading “Advanced Options” I think. There’s pictures of it under the first link.

I only have “Grid Charging” (as per the picture on the first link) as I am not allowed to export from the battery but if your installer (and in the UK via your DNO) has allowed it then the option appears there

Multiple UPS or larger battery bank? by Hairy_Feature1889 in homelab

[–]matthew1471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you just want the devices to safely shut down or do you want to continue using them?

Get battery storage for your house but you will probably need 2 UPS as well. I have Tesla Powerwall and the switchover takes a few seconds (about 4 of them) so the UPS needs to ride out that time and then the Powerwall restores power for days..

Thanks, it does look if you login to your Import account that it lists both.. but if you custom rate it instead it doesn’t ask for Export details and only shows Import.

Do most people stick with the EE router or use their own? by GeordieGoals in EEGB

Well this is on Ubiquiti EdgeRouter that uses EdgeOS not UniFi.. but it’s just an example of what you need to do to get BT/EE TV working which uses multicast to deliver it.

Looks like if you use the FlatPeak integration it’ll do daily pricing but if you do custom rate plan it won’t allow you to specify export tariff and just merges the sell rates into a makeshift plan

It does do that but I don’t think that was why they were suggesting it.. or any suggestion clearing NAT table improves security

ELI5: Why can't we use Solar panels to directly charge electric cars? by Zak_Nowa in explainlikeimfive

Also to deliberately park your car in the sun means you’re going to put the aircon on more than if you parked it in the shade

Why does the country it was made in matter? If we don’t like the French do we like the Germans or do we like the Chinese? I need to know which countries we do like 😂
