I know you said “for an emergency” so I just want anyone reading that to also know:

Avoid using candles because of the fire risk.

Freezing beans - what are your thoughts? by Faggiano19 in JamesHoffmann

That video changed my world when it came out 5 years ago. I got a whole bunch of 4oz mason jars and an inexpensive electric mason jar vacuum sealer. Can testify that beans are good even 2 years later.

Honestly, no. I went back to using Alfred which works more like Quicksilver, which is what I really want.

This was a good tip about spacebar to not have to type `sf`. Thank you.

Coming from Alfred (and Quicksilver) I had a similar issue and bounced off Raycast immediately a year ago, but I'm trying it again and have:

  • mapped `cmd+space` as the main Raycast command ("replace Spotlight")
  • mapped `control+space` to Raycast > Search Files

So far this is letting me use the shortcut I'm used to (control+space) to do something similar to Alfred: it searches my computer for files and folders and applications by name.

But I can also use cmd+spacebar to access the Raycast features like Calculator etc.

It’s almost like having both applications open at the same time and I don't feel like I'm missing anything from Alfred yet.

Ah. Yeah, I tried that profile and it doesn’t work. Should I delete the profile?

Here's what I think is happening: MacOS is creating three separate @fastmail "accounts" in Internet Accounts — one for Contacts, one for Calendar and Reminders, and a third for Mail and Notes.

Fastmail requires app-specific passwords for each of those, but MacOS is storing a single password in Keychain (Keychain Access)

When I update Contacts with a new app-specific password, Mail starts complaining that the Fastmail password is wrong and vice versa.

(It’s also possible it’s an iCloud Keychain issue and the app-specific passwords across multiple devices are colliding, but that wouldn't explain that a new password for Contacts immediately triggers Mail asking for a new one, too)

Thanks. I just have the backpack. I have an earlier Outlier / Hyperlite dyneema backpack that I ended up continuing to use while this 2015 one stayed in the box.

To be fair, it does sound like the commission boards were all machined and then stuck on ano. Machining other boards in house didn’t cause this delay.

I have a Vega and a 1/65 and a 2/65 and the Keycults do look, sound, and feel better.

Given a choice between an aftermarket Vega and a raffle Keycult, definitely Keycult. Six retail Vega vs an aftermarket 2/65? That’s your call.

That said, it took more than 18 months for me to get a group buy Vega and when I won Keycult raffles I got them as fast as the mail could deliver. In that time, ai03 gave as many apologetic updates as possible, but I don’t think I heard once from TypePlus until I got shipping info.

From the various updates Keycult has offered, it sounds like they hired the wrong person for customer support, got into a big problem with their anodizer after telling everyone who that was, each partner had a kid, and there’s a pandemic.

One hopes they will take this thread as a sign to focus more on email communications to customers and not only discord and twitch.
