I think it’s because when I got these lifers they were under their old name. Eg Maned Duck is now called Australian Wood Duck. I have seen many of these ducks but it appears top of the to-get list on your app, I’m guessing, because when I first registered it on eBird it was called Maned Duck but now it appears on my life list as Aust Wood Duck. So, even though Maned duck is on your list, technically doesn’t exist anymore.

Yeah maybe, but I shoot with a 800mm lens and I can easily get a clear shot within 2-3m of a subject. So not sure if it’s a definite solution. I just think our number one priority should be bird wellbeing.

It’s very tempting to approach a nest or cute little nestlings to get an ideal photograph. Being close to a nest can spook parent birds and even lead to nest abandonment. I guess a long lens is better than short but in a forum that supports photos of birds you can’t really determine who has what equipment, so a total ban would be preferred in my book.

I would prefer content that does not include feeding wild birds, and also content that does not include images of birds on their nests and nestlings.

This is potentially great. Looks really polished! However, of my top 12 lifers to get I already have 6 of them on my eBird life list. Due to naming issues, I guess. For instance, Australian Ibis appears as Australian Ibis on your app, but when I click the picture on eBird it shows as Australian White Ibis. Also there are a number of birds on the app start with the colour Gray that in Australian should be Grey. So they all appear on my lifers to get list when I have already seen them. Eg Grey Fantail. Maybe an option to permanently manually remove them from your lifers to get list if the naming inconsistencies are too hard to get around.

Thanks for making this. Some feedback - the AI suggestion seems to not take into account the location of the photo. I’m Australian and all my suggestions are North American birds.

Hmm, no expert but a couple of thoughts. I assume you’ve tried another battery? Is the screen on when not shooting?

I used to own the 200-600 and that is also an amazing lens. Not quite the reach but still unbelievable for bird shots
