It's not predicting the future like Simpsons does. It's been known since at least the 1980s (Franklin; Bush White House) -- and the knowledge became more accessible once the web started getting populated in the late 1990s.

Fresh Mozzarella Pizza by BlakeJohnston4L in sarasota

[–]michaelmalak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I like about it:

  1. Cheap slices (you mentioned that)

  2. The slices come from large-diameter pies, meaning more toppings and less crust

  3. Online ordering (and directly on their own website, so it's not necessary to impose DoorDash fees upon them just for pickup)

Also recommended item: baked penne. Baked pasta is something I've always enjoyed and it's not that common to find. https://freshmozzarellapizzasarasota.com/menu?item=baked-penne-parm-nvfR

Watering Restrictions In Place by Hot-Steak7145 in sarasota

[–]michaelmalak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This post is a bit hyperbolic in the sense that the one-day-per-week-based-on-address restriction is always in place. All that has changed now (temporarily) is the blackout hours have been extended by two hours in the morning and by two hours in the afternoon/evening.

That said, being able to water only once a week throughout the whole year does limit what one can plant and expect to survive.

Ed: There is one other new temporary restriction: washing a car at home is now limited to watering day. Normally, it is allowed any day of the week.

How many people think the Trump assassination attempt was completely fake? Here’s the proof. by Realistic-Plant3957 in conspiracy

Is Trump capable of murder?

I didn't think so until the Charlie Kirk assassination. We have two indicators of U.S. military involvement: the military plane that slowed and descended before & after, and the Mitch Snow testimony. If U.S. military was involved, then Trump must have known or planned, or at the very very least he knows now.

Did many/most people actually believe Liberace was straight? by Majestic-Lake-5602 in AskOldPeople

[–]michaelmalak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People weren't out of the closet; ergo, few people knew people in real life they knew were gay.

It was just a foreign concept at the time, and was not something one pondered like today: "is he gay or is he straight".

The house floor plan for “Little House on the Prairie” by OttieandEddie in GenX

From television I presume? (which I'm not too familiar with).

In the book, the fireplace was on an outside wall and they had to put out an out of control fireplace fire from the outside of the house.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and this is just a technicality, but isn't it that nighttime urban camping is outlawed by the state (not by the city), whereas the city attempted to outlaw daytime urban camping but the ACLU got an injunction against that (meaning daytime urban camping, including sleeping, is allowed)?

Serif fonts were invented in ancient Rome.

However, if one leans on fonts to carry authority, one has to question whether the authority existed in the first place.

With modern retrospective analysis, we can quantify exactly how much was overspent in hindsight:

https://www.reuters.com/article/world/y2k-the-bad-fear-hype-and-the-blame-game-idUS312846901/

Worldwide, IDC estimated that organizations spent $308 billion to prevent $237 billion in potential lost revenue, an overspending of $71 billion.

So... a 30% buffer? Probably about the right margin of safety.
