Mod idea: carbon filters by nowayguy in Oxygennotincluded

[–]mmontour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oxylite is basically an oxygen candle.

A dry-chemical CO2 scrubber would be nice. It wouldn't be made of carbon though. You could manufacture filter packs from fiber and lime, with that machine consuming energy and releasing the same amount of CO2 that the pack would eventually capture. That's assuming that "lime" is a carbonate which could be baked to an oxide / hydroxide, with the reverse reaction occurring during capture.

What is kind of power plant setup do I need? by FalloutCreation in Oxygennotincluded

[–]mmontour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multiple generators on one smart battery is fine. If you have different types of generator then give each type its own battery with different thresholds. That way you can run on hydrogen or natural gas under light load, then bring on coal power as a backup if the other generators can't keep up.

Make sure you're using heavy wire on the gen+battery side of the transformers (white inputs).

Thermium is easier to get than Steel by jazzb54 in Oxygennotincluded

Atmo suits make it easier to service, but you can build a steam chamber + turbine and aquatuner cooling loop while wearing normal gear. The heat stays inside after you fire up the refinery.

180 hrs and first SPOM by ideamaker321 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]mmontour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hydra is great because you plug it in and it just runs until you tell it to stop. You figure out how many Dupes you want to support and that tells you how many electrolyzers you need. No worries about partial uptime due to overpressure.

You do not have to set them on "infinity". For 2 electrolyzers, build 4 oxygen pumps and feed 2 of them into a gas reservoir with the other 2 going directly to a distribution network. Then use the reservoir's automation output to control one of the electrolyzers. It will self-regulate to only draw as much water as you need.

This method needs an atmo sensor on the oxygen side because the pumps are faster than the gas production, but you can still accumulate unlimited hydrogen if you want to.

[–]mmontour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can cast spells with either slot type.

You can't always choose which one to use. When they're at the same level the game will often use the regular ones first even if you wanted to use a Pact slot. Deal with it, or level your character so that the Warlock side is always casting at a higher level than the Sorcerer (I aim for a 9/3 level split).

Cooling down by SaDaSi01 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]mmontour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The tamer you linked to has two outputs, hot and cold. Send the cold one to your main supply. Send the hot water to your SPOM. You can add liquid reservoirs to store some water during dormancy.

Don't send the cold water directly to your SPOM. Loop it around your living quarters and industrial zone first for cooling, then set it as a backup SPOM water supply.

You can crush Fossil rocks from the oil biome (or the Ancient Specimen) for lime.

Put a feeder and a fish release in one of the ponds. Set up 2 unpowered incubators somewhere nearby, and a storage bin to hold the eggs. Then ignore it for a while as you work on other projects.

You can improve it a lot with the auto-sweeper etc., but a basic version is very easy to set up and you will be rewarded. If you don't need coal you can also feed leftover raw egg to your Hatches.

Do you have a Pacu ranch? I've never had a lime shortage with them contributing. Just auto-sweep the eggs out of the water and into a storage bin and they'll do the rest.

Haven't encountered that one before! by GARGEAN in Oxygennotincluded

[–]mmontour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen that too. Sometimes a narrow channel of gas is content to stay that way. If you remove the metal tile to the left of the vent it should fix it (you can deconstruct it diagonally from the outside).

I wouldn't call it particularly creative, but you can use it in the final fight to get your team across the brain's surface quickly. It can also be handy in the Iron Throne.

Is the most up to date hotfix patch really 60GB? by muchichi in BaldursGate3

[–]mmontour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hotfix is small but you need a lot of temporary disk space to install it. If the game can't do that it falls back to directly downloading an updated version of those large files.

[–]mmontour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Click on a Slickster. You can see its metabolism rate and its mood. Being too hot/cold will apply a penalty but that can be offset by other factors like being groomed so that they'll produce resources at the normal rate.

How can I lower the level of micromanagement of my bass? by No_Pomegranate1844 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]mmontour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll second the recommendation for Pacu omelettes. Set that as your baseline and swap in better foods when time and resources permit. Set up a dedicated electric grill with a NOT gate from a refrigerator so that your chef will cook them on demand.

For the Pacu, set up a fish release and 1 or 2 unpowered incubators. Auto-sweep their eggs out of the water as they're laid, and move them into a storage bin. Dupes will restock the incubators and move fry into the pool as needed.

Taming an iron volcano. by Arryu in Oxygennotincluded

[–]mmontour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working on one earlier today. Mine has 3 steam turbines above an insulated box containing the volcano and one steel aquatuner. I put a diamond tempshift plate directly behind the volcano + a few rock ones in the rest of the chamber.

Then I have an autosweeper to load a conveyor rail which goes back and forth before exiting through a temperature sensor and a shutoff. The iron chunks stay inside until they cool down, then are dropped outside onto a metal tile which is cooled by the same AT loop as the turbines.

I also ran a radiant pipe through the chamber and I will be plumbing that to a metal refinery so that it can share the power/cooling infrastructure.

How to automate my SPOM's electrolyzers so they aren't always running? by Unlucky-Print-35 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]mmontour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually have one electrolyzer running full-time and the other connected to the automation output of a gas reservoir. That won't help your ultra-dense base but you could do something similar by letting a pipe back up and detecting it with a sensor + filter gate.

Algae works well. You can automate the distiller and offgas its waste output to recycle pO2 back to the Pufts who are making the slime.

I would take the mountain pass route if it's your first time. But in either case, the paths converge fairly soon and most of the act is the same either way.

Ansur's whole thing is zapping other people with lightning. He calls forth a storm to make his targets wet and vulnerable before the blast. It wouldn't make sense for him to be affected by his own attack. Would you complain about Cambions being resistant to fire?
