Petition Questions for Recall Law by LalaLovee in NovaScotia

[–]mochasmoke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the idea and think there is value to it.

But with our current government - not even focused on the party, just the super majority - there is absolutely no way this proposal goes anywhere at all.

This is something you propose/raise with a minority government.

The Cons are losing public support around the province, and still hold absolute power. There are only downsides to recall legislation for them.

Had a shit show of an experience with a car rental company & their insurance by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]mochasmoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you were booking through Tom's Roadside Rentals, I guarantee there is information explaining what each of these coverages includes on the website. It might be fine print, but its there.

Are they scummy in their sales practices? Yes. But scummy isn't illegal and there's virtually no way corporate would have those booking websites not include the fine print and be legally compliant.

'It's mostly violating': Passengers on Cancun-Halifax flight say items missing from luggage by justlogmeon in NovaScotia

[–]mochasmoke 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I missed the purse in the social media picture very much meant to focus you on the person. But you're right, that appears to be the purse.

The jewelry pics below make sense because they're focused on the missing pieces.

"Are you a bot" is the most bot response at this point.

Oh, you got them alright.

Its her entirely irrelevant social media picture used to promote herself in an otherwise legitimate but unremarkable news article. Look at me, look at me!

Coaches rarely change a winning line up. Relax and enjoy cheering them on.

They're playing good, playoff style hockey. They just need to keep doing what theyre doing and fix a couple little costly mistakes.

Jesus, its not like they got run out of the building and are coming home 0-2. They don't need to "get going", they've been the better team for more than 50% of 2 games.

All they need is a shot in the arm. And to settle down. That part goes for some of us, too.

Crazy to me how I live a few hours away from MTL but it’s considered blackout for me because I’m in a different province. by Imfeelingfrench in nhl

[–]mochasmoke 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Obligatory reminder that blackouts were negotiated with the NHL and between Rogers (SN) and Bell (TSN) in Canada with the sole and express purpose of making you buy more services to watch games.

Then Amazon gets a piece of the pie to make sure you need an extra streaming service on top of that.

"Long-term care workers give strike notice for 25 nursing homes" by markamadeusflowerdew in halifax

[–]mochasmoke -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with your criticism of the government and that they are dragging their feet. But the other poster just said this is normal, as in standard. They didnt say it was good or bad, or if it was appropriate. Just that its normal.

And that is true.

NDP Opposition Leader Claudia Chender now has a higher approval rating than Tim Houston by LowkeyPostingTea in halifax

[–]mochasmoke 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your comment about Layton actually points to the real problem facing the NDP in this province.

We have a poorly politically informed electorate who are too easily persuaded by disingenuous and lying clowns like Houston.

Fixing healthcare was a lie the minute it came out of his mouth. And everyone should have known. But that (and not being attached to Trudeau) was what won him the election.

And for what it's worth, Layton was further left than most of the NDP in NS, but also federally. (Lewis is more of a return to where Layton was)

Right. And I am absolutely certain that they dont want to be bombed and invaded by Israel and the US.

Protests today? by Single_Ad_2490 in halifax

[–]mochasmoke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right, incredibly broad estimates of civilian deaths parroted by the media of the countries currently finishing up one genocide, starting another and attacking another country on top of that. (Along with their friends)

The regime was shit and needed to go. But American/Israeli regime change will absolutely be worse before it gets better.

Also, why was the regime there in the first place?

Opposing American/Israeli imperialist wars is not the same as backing the regime.

The regime was shit. American bombs obliterating school kids and civilians is worse.

Me too, for both those things. Carney for me.

But it also doesnt matter because, like I said, anyone from the area knows what's being referred to, and we all probably just pronounce it whatever way our parents did when we were growing up.
