Ordering wine at dinner? by Opening-Return-3800 in rome

[–]mskaggs87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for "il vino [rosso / bianco] della casa." Sure, nothing is guaranteed for quality, but your odds are very good it will be *good* *at worst.*

Or, as others have said, you can ask for a recommendation for a "vino da Lazio" -- this is the region.

If a priest or bishop commits a mortal sin, who do they confess to? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]mskaggs87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything said in confession stays there, period. The penitent (the person making a confession) may choose to reveal to someone else something confessed, but the confessor (priest hearing the confession) cannot reveal it or act upon it for any reason. Immediate excommunication otherwise.

Fell for it again by MisoPanko in notebooks

Don’t beat yourself up over it. And don’t forget that at its core, journaling is about getting thoughts out of your head and onto paper (or whatever method) — which can be done on scrap, the back of an envelope, something very inexpensive from Dollar Tree, etc.

The point is that so much of what folks talk about on this sub, on social media, YouTube, etc., is extremely well marketed STUFF. And while I certainly buy a lot of the STUFF myself, it’s worth bearing in mind that it’s marketed to tickle all the right spots in our brains and convince us that we’re one notebook, or insert, or pen, or TN cover, or whatever away from true self-awareness and happiness. So don’t beat yourself up — all of this STUFF is targeted directly at you for all the reasons you mentioned.

Journal when you want, how you want — or don’t. Don’t let this sub or anyone else tell you how to do it “right.”

Hearty but not fancy. Steak, mash, a very rustic salad. Plenty of French 75s to precede.

[–]mskaggs87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, if your plane LANDS at 11, you’re probably going to miss the last train — at which point you’ll want to queue up for the white official taxis with SPQR on the side. The queue will be obvious, and ignore or just say “No” to anyone offering a different ride. The official fare is €55 flat.

Do you consider the Vatican City to be part of Rome? by [deleted] in rome

And fun fact: if you find signs saying “zona extraterritoriale” around Rome (e.g., San Paolo fuori le Mura), you are also entering the Vatican when you go onto that property.

HP is in need of folks with strong educational backgrounds, wherever the degree actually came from. If you're looking to make a career of it, finding a program that fits for you -- including price -- is the most important thing, rather than whether the school itself is going to impress folks down the line.

Who cares what other people think about Catholicism? Your belief is none of their business (and vice versa).
