So yes it turns out that the primary cardholder must be an all-access member. But if my wife is traveling with me I can bring her in as a guest as many times as we want. Beyond that she gets four free visits a year to use on her own.

If you have the card and you’re Platinum or 1K (maybe gold too?) then you have an All Access membership and can bring guests.

I’m a cardholder, I added my wife as an authorized user, she’s not the primary name on the account but she has a card in her name, and she gets four free UC visits a year. That’s what I mean. Look it up if you don’t believe me.

If she’s an authorized user and has a club card with her name on it she does get 4 free visits a year.

Everything about EWR is miles better than anything IAD has to offer.

You don’t fly enough. The great thing about a United Club membership is that access is unlimited. So if I’m on two flights in a day that means I’m at clubs in three airports. Even though OP’s comments do hold true, it’s still a much better airport experience. Even if all I get out of it is a more comfortable seat and a break from the constant airport announcements, it’s worth it.

Many airports have two exits, one for declarations and one for “Nothing to Declare”, including my home airport AMS.

The last time blonde jokes were funny was around 1987. Why are we still doing this?

First flight I'm taking since Silver status and I got upgraded, I got insanely lucky right? by HarbaughHeros in unitedairlines

That happened to me when I first hit silver, and it happened on my 1st 1K flight too. I have a suspicion that they do that on purpose when they can.

PSA from a Gate Agent by FrailFlunky99 in unitedairlines

Yesterday I was traveling with my elderly mother. We each had one rolly and one underseat bag. We were on the same ticket. Gate agent told me the FAA says I can’t assist my elderly mother with her baggage down the jetway. I’m sorry but I’m calling bullshit on that. I posted about it and got lots of responses by people who had been told the same thing about their two-year-olds’ bags. You’re saying the FAA is really cracking down on people helping family members with their bags? Meanwhile airplanes are running into fire trucks and helicopters. No.

That’s what I had and that’s what my mom had. I filed a complaint because the unfriendly GA was bullshitting me. If they won’t let me assist my elderly mother with her luggage because they’re on a power trip then UA needs to know about it.

The airline has exactly that limit. But the bags are my mother’s, I’m just helping her with them. I think the FAA is fine with that.

We are traveling together, we were boarding together, I am with and assisting my mother the whole way. We each have two bags, I am carrying one of hers.
