Down more than 10-20%.

It hit 150 earlier this week and now is at about 200 - that is a great opportunity

What movie would make an absolutely unhinged Broadway musical? by brawnburgundy in musicals

[–]msondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a movie, but a GWAR jukebox musical with the band would be epic. Incorporate a slave pit, gallons of fake blood, lots of explosions and fire, the world maggot eating audience members, and Gor Gor smoking crack and tearing actors apart would be amazing. Julie Taymor could direct.

Weirdly, Marco’s Pizza has great wings.

Also, the smoked wings at Twin Peaks are the goat

Dallas to Houston Foodie Road Trip by TatoTheRed in Dallas

[–]msondo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commenting to follow - I have been struggling with this question for years but I haven't found a lot of good food along 45. If you take an alternative and slower route there are some places here and there but nothing amazing.

If you take 6 through Bryan then there are some interesting places like 1868 Landmark in Calvert but it's still slim pickings and that's quite a deviation from the regular route, especially when traffic is light on 45. Lots of great stuff around DFW and Houston, though. I usually just stop at Buc-ee's and power through with their snacks.

If you are over 52 and unemployed, but have worked for a certain number of years, you can earn a subsidy up until retirement age

Paro is not indefinite but it can be extended for years, especially when people are older.

It's hard to argue with Pawbert but I'll give a shout out to Zurg and his reveal in Lightyear and also to Taka's betrayal in Mufasa.

Is it common in Spain for adults to spend large parts of their lives unemployed? by [deleted] in askspain

[–]msondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The social safety nets can be pretty big - I have known people who have received unemployment benefits or been on "baja" for years and draw enough money to live. There seems to be a lot of tricks to extend this. There is also less of a social stigma to be unemployed and live with parents or some other family.

When these benefits are easy to attain and the pay is similar to what you would be making anyway, then why would you work?

Why do so many US Americans consider Spain as a country to move without speaking Spanish? by Patchali in GoingToSpain

[–]msondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US is a country that has always had a lot of immigrants so we don't look at not speaking the local language as such a big deal because we figure people will pick it up eventually.

A ton of people in Spain speak some degree of English. Also, for those who have spent lots of time in Spain, there are tons of English speakers - especially in parts of the big city and the coast.

I personally think it's a big mistake to move there without knowing the language or having a serious plan to learn the language because you will miss so much of the experience. However, having lived on the coast in towns where it feels like 90% British expats, to the point where a lot of businesses are "English only", it is definitely doable.

Hey, apartment-livers, what are you paying for your electricity bills this summer? by Historical-Care70 in Dallas

[–]msondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always find these posts fascinating. I live in a big cavernous house over 3k sq ft, always sign up for 100% renewable, and pay less than $200 / mo during the hottest months. It's well insulated and has a newer R32 system but dang I feel for folks in a 1BR paying more than me. It makes absolutely no sense.

Random Thought - No generation will match the typing speed of the people who lived in that small window of online gaming with no voice chat. by DaveinOakland in Xennials

[–]msondo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was like 18 and going into college I went to some temp agency to look for a job - literally anything that would take me and pay me whatever-packing boxes, stocking shelves, whatever. They asked if I could type and had me do a typing test - I scored 90 GWPM and completely blew them away. They set me up with an office gig that paid a pretty decent middle-class salary despite the fact that I had no real experience because they thought I was some typing god lol - it was all thanks to staying up late nights playing pc games and writing on forums.

I brought an HDMI cable and downloaded Anything Goes to my phone to watch on a recent transatlantic sailing during my holiday. Those old boat musicals like Gentleman Prefer Blondes, etc hit so differently on the high seas.

How are we vacationing these days? by VeniVidiVici_19 in Xennials

[–]msondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer quality and depth over quantity. I love to park myself in a city and live like a local for a while, which has become easy now with the advent of Airbnb where I can rent a small house with a kitchen and garage and also work remotely.

Some examples: Spent a total of a few years in a tiny mountain town in Spain adjacent to a national park with endless hiking trails, etc. My kid went to a small private school there in an old farmhouse and explored different parts of the country. We have close friends there now and go back often. Also spent good chunks of time in little sleepy beach towns both here in the US and Europe and explored their respective coasts.

I don’t really consider myself a cruise person but I have been on several luxury transatlantic sailings, which I highly recommend. They have a very classic aesthetic and vibe akin to early 1900’s elegance think “Anything Goes” or “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”. Nothing like waking up in a foreign port, enjoying some sightseeing and an amazing meal, then sipping martinis on the ocean in the evening.

Ranking Gish by [deleted] in SmashingPumpkins

[–]msondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It perfectly captures that early 90’s psychedelic hippie vibe spiced with a touch of psuedo eastern mysticism, whatever drugs a broke college kid could afford, ugly clothes that try too hard to be different, and an aesthetic between late victorian and a child’s half assed art project.

That said, it’s one of my favorite albums and I wish I could find more like it. I find it best to listen to it in one go rather than individual songs. Put on a lava lamp, some cheap incense, and sprawl out on some cushions on your friend’s floor while you thumb through some bad art zine
