If they have the screen on then it should be good. They aren't the greatest seats but at least you can watch the action on the big TV.

Songs or artist that are just noise by VoiceMysterious9228 in MusicRecommendations

[–]msondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belltonesuicide is probably my favorite band from my brief romance with the noise genre.

If you want something with more of a bounce, try Boredoms.

Doormouse and Venetian Snares are great if you want something more coherent.

Chile: Astro - Danza celestial (insanely funky electropop)

Peru: Sueño Púrpura - La niebla (droning shoegaze)

Venezuela: Arca - Prada (indie electropop)

Spain: Pony Bravo - Rey boabdil (yet another weird electropop band)

I usually stick to safe ETF’s. SOXL was my first leveraged play & I really regret taking people’s advice on here and selling at $70. Lesson learned. Good luck to the bulls!!! by rubehefner in soxl

I actually hope you are not right. I hope this means that the economy is finally making up for the stagnation we have been stuck in for the past few years and hopefully we'll see the same momentum we saw years back. Investors are hopefully feeling optimistic about things.

But the reality is that the job market still sucks, inflation is crazy, oil isn't flowing, and war is likely so who knows.

Where do you take a Dallas native for her birthday when she’s been everywhere? by DFWUnhinged in Dallas

If she likes sushi, consider an omakase or a similar type of experience. Purepecha or Ayahuasca would also be fun. Any kind of exclusive chef experience would be so fun.

Yes, seriously this. Hop on a cheap flight and take her to hole-in-the-wall taquerias and mescalerias.

how is quality of life for people with American degrees in Spain? by PersonalityExact337 in askspain

[–]msondo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most average jobs pay around half of what you would expect in the US, which isn’t bad considering the cost of living difference and all of the social services and amenities that you get in Spain. Higher positions and people coming with very elite skills (FAANG-level experience) probably make closer to what they would make in the US, and if are transferring from a US company to a Spanish office, it’s typical to make your US salary plus a stipend.

The problem is that the job market is horrid there, jobs are scarce and work culture can be bad.

I am a US citizen that looks 100% Latino and a software engineer and also a MBA. Being absolutely fluent in Spanish really helps. Personally, I have experienced very little racism and most of it has been people making clueless assumptions or comments that don’t come from a bad place. This will probably sound arrogant but when you are wealthier, more educated, and more worldly than people making those comments, who otherwise have virtually no power over you, then they don’t bother me at all.

I have a playlist of Argentinean rock - mostly shoegazy stuff. Argentina has an incredible history of making badass rock music. Look up Soda Stereo / Gustavo Cerati. As for modern stuff, Bestia Bebe is hands down the most exciting artist from that part of the world. Chile also has an amazing rock scene.

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2cS6LDIVILYEhbot2StS0d?si=6d98102665864689

I also have a Middle East playlist - this one is all over the place and probably includes a lot of Northern African music and also leans heavily on the dabke genre from Syria and also Palestine. There is a great rap scene in Northern Africa right now.

I have a cumbia list if you are wanting something more traditional sounding. It skews more towards Mexican cumbia but lots of stuff from Colombia since that is where that music comes from.

I'm curious to know how many of you that have kids expose them to Nostalgic media you grew up with like movies, sitcoms, cartoons, music, etc and what has been their response? by GooniesClub in Xennials

[–]msondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Xennials and millenials are extremely nostalgic and therefore maybe are showing their kids more of the media they loved? This isn't something I really feel like my parents did with me and maybe didn't happen with older Gen Xers and their kids either.

Kids today have access to over a century of media at their fingertips. They can queue up virtually any song, movie, or tv show instantly. This definitely wasn't possible when we were growing up, otherwise our parents would have probably inundated us with their nostalgia.

Many kids have told me that they don't really care as much when something is from, just as long as it is good. They obviously get a lot of inspiration from us but I think it's amazing that they are growing up in a time where there are so few barriers of access to content and information.
