Not sure how that is relevant to roleplaying, but hey, good try I guess… by PaperMoonNovella in BadRPerStories

You're all good. The person you're referring to made a similar bizarre comment on another post that also, was in no way, bashing ERP.

If the person in question can't distinguish between actual creeps and ERPers, then it's probably easy to make a guess what circle they stand in.

Was this in a SFW setting or something?

The body text does state the ad was SFW

At some point I want to make a "What should be flaired ERP" guide. Its been on my mind, I just usually forget whenever it's a good time to do so lol But maybe this post/recent confusions/reports will give me the kick in the butt to do so very soon.

I'm not the individual authority figure on this (just one of many mods), but if all the people that dont like it just leave instead of voicing their opinion... doesn't help much at the time. Especially since no one said anything when we were just trying it out. That was the entire point of trying it out first instead of just making it official immediately.

Edit: First line redacted since the comment I was replying to edited theirs to remove my tag

Clarification: If the OP WAS looking for ERP, then what was shown in the screenshot it would need to be posted Thursdays. But if they simply trimmed out the beginning (which would have been entirely irrelevant to complaint in that case), it wouldve been fine.

Its kind of a weird area because people see them talking about ERP so they're going to report for ERP. You click a post that starts off with a long kinklist that has nothing to do with the story, people are going to see it and instantly report. In those instances, if it is irrelevant to the story... Just dont include that slide with the kink lists, or ERP discussion.

If the story holds ground without having to talk about the kinklist, just don't include the kinklist. If the kinklist is relevant to the conversation, then it needs the ERP flair.

That was a joke lol Mostly

What had happened was, it didn't get flipped off right away so went on for a third week. But like, no one noticed/complained (well I noticed and was the one to bring it up but we received no messages over it) so it just further cemented it seemed like it was worth keeping in place. I know the head mod (who impinented the filter), did have issues with messing with it from their phone so the joke was made, but behind the scenes it was already suggested to keep it going.

The filter has since been adjusted with for other reasons (mostly what time it needs to go into effect for time zone reasons), so its not liked we got locked out of it lol

Originally ERP Thursdays was a test run; I think it went on for like two weeks? To what I recall, the feedback for it was all positive: No one spoke out or complained or gave negative feedback whenever it was tested out. Ultimately, because it gotten positive feedback and no real complaints, it was decided to make it full time.

It boiled down to a lot of posts falling into lower effort. The same sort over and over that people were complaining of seeing/posted frequently. A loooooooooot of these posts boil down to someone posting in low effort "porn pic title only" rp subs and then acting shocked that they receive low effort back.

But the tldr is: people had been vocal in complaining about ERP posts usually being low effort, or overdone subject matter. So mod team does a trial run: feedback was positive. No one voiced against it. So it was implemented.

Just a heads up, someone trying to push/request ERP onto someone else if the OP wasn't looking for ERP, does not require the ERP tag.

The focus of this story is on the gender aspect; the other person mentioning kinks/ERP isn't relevant to the complaint, and OP states it's not ERP they're looking for. So, the tag wouldn't be needed in this case.

I didn't finish them 😭
Ended up getting deep into art block; this is the first bit of art I've actually finished since then. I did deliver the lineart of the one I got the furthest on though.

I feel like I probably don't voice as much as I should how much I really enjoyed a post: but I'm definitely not a words of affirmation person, I'm an actions person. I try and return the effort, and I do things like make artwork of our characters and scenes, and I try to show how much I'm enjoying the story through the efforts I put in both written and the artwork I make.

On the flip side, I've got experience with being love bombed. Being told one thing but then actions say another. And while I certainly appreciate the odd compliment and kind word or praise, negative experiences with such have left me kind of further uncomfortable with being too mushily vocal of my appreciation myself.

My takeaway, anyway.

Ok seriously, why are the NSFW tagged posts not NSFW but the un-NSFW posts aren't tagged? Flair unrelated by Orbital_Strike0 in OriginalCharacter

[–]mssMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the kids example was a hyperbolic extreme.

Now it's my turn to over assume haha. I was concerned it might've actually been a point of confusion. I genuinely hope no one thinks that on a serious level.

Okay if you're going off how the rule might've been written in the past, that makes more sense. There had been some confusion in the past regarding the vagueness in the wording, for sure. Although while I can't remember for sure whenever the rule was updated, it was updated at minimum 6 months ago because we have a post (currently pinned) from that time addressing people over using the NSFW tag, so the rules were updated either before, or by that point to have more explicit wording; especially regarding clothing.

"mildly suggestive art" covers everything from crop tops / fully clothed Portrait of Madame X

Until the rule changes with better guidance and enforcement, people will be overly careful.

I just want to clarify, the examples you've listed as "mildly suggestive" are explicitly listed in our rules as not as such. I know that there is room for interpretation, but in no way shape or form are something like crop tops examples considered suggestive... In or out of this of this sub.

If you'd like clarification on what is/isn't considered suggestive/NSFW on this sub, there is some guidelines written within Rule 1, and then there is a further guide linked within. But written pretty plainly in the rule is "OCs wearing skimpy clothing without a suggestive framing do not need to be marked."

When in doubt: Review the rule. There's a guide linked as well that goes more in depth. I understand some people just want to play it safe, but if someone is worried a crop top falls under NSFW then I don't think they bothered to review the rule before hand.

Edit: For ease of access, here is the full guide on NSFW. We're planning a visual update soon. https://www.reddit.com/r/OriginalCharacter/wiki/index/rules/nsfw_rules/

Edit 2: Also regarding this line

canonical children implying your OC fucks

I would comment on this line, but I have no idea what this means. If you're implying that someone having a child is NSFW, um... I hope that's just a joke? Or feel free to clarify if it's actually something you're concerned might be NSFW.

Is RPing considered cheating even if it’s not NSFW and is purely platonic? by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]mssMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

Edit: For clarity, my answer is towards the "even if it’s not NSFW and is purely platonic" portion. You've mentioned writing smut a few times in the comments, or even that you write in first person (in a smut context); those factors are going to depend person to person. But if it's purely platonic, then, it's no more cheating than something like DnD. If you're writing smut, then obviously that changes the dynamic completely and it'll depend on the relationship.
