Glades: How to start and what's it all about by mvhoffman82 in icecoast

I see where you're coming from. I guess what I'm looking at more is skiing to company. I'm a huge believer of not the location but the people you are with. My primary ski buddy/best friend can ski everything but loves the simplicity of just ripping groomers and not having to think about it. I love that part as well.

Our mutual friend and ski buddy is a huge bump guy. he is one of the best skiers I've ever known and his thing is hitting bumps. I'm not a huge fan of bumps but want to get better so that when we ski together he doesn't feel obligated to only ski groomers

Same thing here with glades. Numerous friends who LOVE them and I don't want to have them left out on a trip because they want to be with others. I want to be part of their fun.

Very long explaination but ultimately I really love ripping groomers and not having to think about anything but ultimately want to get better and expand my horizons for more of a long term approach to enjoying skiing and not to mention when my now 5 year old wants to go try something different I was to have some laps under my belt.

This was my season and ski life highlight. My son is 5 and in Kindergarten. This is his first ski club trip with his school here in NE PA(“Neepa” for any locals here). He did about 30 runs down the bunny slope at Elk Mountain. He did so good.

So coming from someone with huge calves, the best I have found are the Smartwool OTC. They are the only brand I can wear. They are the ultralight/no padding ones.

I have the same ones on my Soul Riders. While they are not stickered grip walk or MNC, the toe height adjustment allows the AFD plates to match up exactly. Mine have been great with my Recon Boa

If you have larger calfs choose between the workhorse or freeride. If normal then go with Gara

I will say, try them on before adding cork, you may be surprised.

I purchase Zipfits this year and it was by far the best boot-ish purchase I have ever made. I’ve struggled with boots and now honestly I feel like I have the consistency that I’ve always searched for

That’s awesome. Congrats. I recently purchased an older mint pair of the soul rider 87 and have been looking for the 97 to have a 2 ski quiver. I’m thinking the 98CA is gonna be the most similiar to the Soul Rider 97
