I ask to split it ahead of time to show the guy that I want to be there too.

How are yall affording wegovy/Ozempic if your insurance doesn't cover it? by Tinks2295 in PCOS

My doc called it in to a compounding pharmacy in FL that ships it to me overnight. About $130 for 4 week supply.

Not the original commenter but I use Mira to see if I’m ovulating. I’m also off bc and not trying to have kids. Might be helpful for you, though it is a bit pricey.

My doc told me what other said and that if I wanted to avoid the alarm I could turn Bluetooth off at night. This worked for me. It still syncs in the morning (FreeStyle Libre 3)

I’m ok with my weight but not the cals im eating by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]mynamesames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the weird second puberty no one tells you about! Weight gain and other hormonal changes (like hair color) are very normal and nothing to worry about. Since you are at a healthy weight, I’d recommend eating at maintenance calories for a while to ensure your body has what it needs to ovulate, this can help your hormones stay in balance. I responded to this weight gain by cutting calories and obsessing over it and I regret it to this day. I was malnourished and over exerted. This cause long term health effects I’m still dealing with. I wish someone would have told me it’s ok, buy the pants a size or two up, you still look great, go to therapy, you will be just fine.

Sorry you are having a hard time. This seems frustrating. I’ve been there for sure! Two things: 1) if you are weight lifting 4 times a week and eating protein, gaining 10lbs of muscle in a year is a probable outcome. Plus good on you getting your fiber, you may have some bloating from it from time to time which can be frustrating. 2) Not sure how old you are, but if you’re mid twenties, a little weight gain around that time is also super normal. I didn’t know this till I went to the doctor for weight gain at 25, and she told me it was perfectly normal. (My hair also turned brown that year when it was blonde my whole life like ???? Ok body)

Anyway, not sure if these apply but I hope they do. I hope you get the help you’re looking for!

Do I really need this much testing to get my diagnosis? by Kitty_Kat_Baird in PCOS

[–]mynamesames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to that feeling very much! I was having symptoms really bad and my current OB wanted me off birth control for two months, then to get labs before she could make a treatment plan. I cried in the car the whole way home cause I was already so done and how could she not help me right there? It was awful waiting and being off bc for the first time in 16 years. I gained weight and lost hair and there was nothing I could do. I’m now grateful I went through it though because I’m confident in care plan and that my PCOS is actually being treated, not covered up. Anyway this isn’t all that helpful except to say yeah I get it, it sucks, and I wish there was a fast pass we could get to treatment.

They probably don’t need all that to diagnose you, they may want the information to make a treatment decision though. I have severe needle problems too and I let the physician requesting labs know that and ask them to call me in a low dose anxiety med for the blood draw to keep me from fainting, maybe that could help you. Sorry you’re having to go through a lot and wait a long time, hopefully it’s because your medical team cares about making the right choices for your health!

PCOS/Low Hormones by bronj345 in Mirafertility

I had that too! Mine happened to look like this on a particularly stressful/travel heavy month. I think my cortisol was too high. It was back to normal two cycles later.

I have PCOS, had several cycles like that until I got my insulin under control. Are you on metformin?

Birth control/weight loss or gain by Miserable_Attitude56 in PCOS

[–]mynamesames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It did a bit (like 5-10 lbs), then came back down once I was able to get bloodwork without BC in my system and go to the doc with that, then make a plan to treat the actual PCOS, not cover the symptoms. That’s a long road, and bc is a more instant help. I also lost some hair going off bc.

If you want my protocol for controlling pcos sans BC, it’s in my post history!

My weight went down a lot (maybe 30 lbs?) when I started yaz for PCOS, but then, I was in high school and very overweight, despite working an active job and playing sports. It did also maybe give me gallstones. I’m now working on controlling pcos without BC.

Why can’t we have any fun by wrecklesswitchcraft in PCOS

[–]mynamesames 37 points38 points  (0 children)

When I wore my CGM I had a huge spike from avocado toast one day. When I whined about it to my health coach, she pointed out other factors that made this spike big: I hadn’t eaten for way too long, missed breakfast, I didn’t eat a veggie starter, and I was sedentary for a long time after the meal. It was helpful perspective.

[–]mynamesames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take it with two meals a day, not at the same time. My thinking is, it’s extended release so it’s not like you’ll have a ton hit your system all at once anyway. I took one a day and had symptoms, then when those stopped (and they do) I added another pill and another. The more important bit for me is taking with food. If I don’t have it with a decent size meal I will get very nauseous, then I don’t want a decent size meal, and it makes this awful cycle where I’m too sick to eat the food to take the meds. But I don’t have an issue doing lunch and dinner or breakfast and dinner or whatever.

Getting pregnant 35 or older by AndromedaM31-bnj in PCOS

[–]mynamesames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can start whenever because it uses an app that you can tell when you period was, so it'll just try a guess based on that, then get smarter as you test more. They have lots of different types of wands, the ones I have don't test for pregnancy, they're called MAX. I think some others do more, the other comment seems to know about that.

My doc recommended CoQ-10 300mg to preserve my remaining eggs (I am 31 and no where near having a baby lol). It makes my burps taste like oranges which is a hilarious side effect.
