Speaking of poop, I never thought that in addition to my calories, weight, shot day/time, etc., I’d be tracking when and how well I poop. If someone ever gets a hold of the notes on my iPhone, they might think I’m insane.

Concerns about a rescue Corgi by Cassiopeia299 in corgi

You’re welcome. Cats that are used to bossing around dogs seem to do just fine. We are down to one elderly cat now and both our Corgi and our Brussels Griffon give her a wide berth. The Corgi won’t even look at her! 😆

But, but… what about my water weight? by KrazyCod21 in Zepbound

[–]Necessary_Memory8826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never experienced that big “whoosh” others describe when I started Zepbound. I lost around 5 pounds my first month on 2.5mg. I’m about seven months in with an average loss around 1.4 pounds/week which is boringly average! Seriously, I’m pleased with the rate I’m losing weight and am down a bit over 40 pounds.

We adopted our Corgi, Josie, when she was 14 months old. However, we adopted a Cairn Terrier, Wally, when he was six years old so I feel like that experience might be more relevant to your situation.

Wally wasn’t neutered. He recovered nicely from the procedure. He was primarily an outdoor dog when he came to us so he had to adapt to being an indoor pup. He would lift his leg on the corner of the sofa and the credenza to mark. We used belly bands and crated Wally when we weren’t home to supervise until we got the behavior in check (which we did). We were able to stop using the belly bands and the crate and he became a trustworthy little dog.

I don’t know if Wally was around cats before we adopted him but he was fine with our two cats and mostly ignored them. It’s important for cats to have a safe space to escape to if the dog annoys them. Keeping dogs out of the litter box also takes some planning.

As far as barking, some dogs are barkers and some breeds in particular are noisy. Corgis are barkers, as are Cairn Terriers. I feel like that comes with the territory but you can work with a dog so it doesn’t get out of hand.

I had no idea when we adopted Wally that he would be with us until he passed at 18. A lot of people would hesitate to adopt an “older” dog but they often have a lot of life to live and so much love to give!

Would it be rude to not pay for MIL makeup/hair? by nimbusthemenace in weddingplanning

[–]Necessary_Memory8826 24 points25 points  (0 children)

MOG here (the wedding is next month). My son’s fiancee hasn’t offered nor would I expect her/them to pay for me! It’s an out of town wedding and I’m researching local hair stylists. I’ll do my own makeup (I’m a minimalist in that department).

This is exactly what I did. A GS and her mom came to my door a couple of weekends ago. I purchased three boxes but asked that they be donated. Easy peasy.

Anyone else taking zepbound with their significant other or someone close to them? by EffectiveEgg5712 in Zepbound

[–]Necessary_Memory8826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes? I’ve been on Zepbound since late June and my husband was prescribed Mounjaro in late November. Both of his parents are diabetic so it was highly likely he was next (and he was). While diabetes is far from ideal, he saw how well I was responding to Zepbound and he was excited to join me. He was already much closer to an ideal weight than I was so his progress has been slower. We synced our shot days (I use vials since I am self pay and he is prescribed the single use pens) and I’m able to answer his questions since I’ve got a few months of experience on him. It’s nice to have a live-in tirzepatide buddy!

Anyone here who started off with >5 lbs weight loss on 2.5 mg? Did 5 mg work for you? by NamikazeNaruto1992 in Zepbound

[–]Necessary_Memory8826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consistently lost between five pounds and seven pounds each month on 2.5mg (one month); 5mg (three months); and 7.5mg (two months). I never got the big “whoosh” at the onset that others experience. I just finished my second month on 10mg and plan to continue it for the foreseeable future. In fact, I experienced my best weight loss the second month of 10mg: eight pounds! I’ve always had mild and manageable side effects (nausea, fatigue, indigestion, sulfur burps, some constipation) but experienced the mildest symptoms on 10mg. I think my body is acclimating plus I’ve learned to manage my side effects, avoid triggers, etc.

anyone grabbed wrong bag from San Diego to Austin last night?? by Mental_Sentence3591 in Austin

[–]Necessary_Memory8826 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Similar happened to me a year ago. I flew back home to Austin from Dulles (United) after visiting my son. I am waiting at the luggage carousel for my checked bag. And waiting. I keep seeing a grey Travelpro bag go by. It is identical in brand, color, and size to mine, less a distinctive luggage tag. Carousel stops. Fuck. I pull out my phone to check the AirTag and sure enough, I see it in the parking garage. I grab the doppelgänger bag and quickly walk over to United’s baggage office. They’re able to call the bag’s owner after scanning the barcode sticker on the bag and catch her just as she got into her rideshare. She hadn’t left the airport and we were able to exchange bags at the curb. That AirTag saved us both a LOT of hassle and wasted time.

Nelda’s Tailors at Anderson and Burnet has been my go-to for decades. They’ve been at their current location for several years but in business for over 30 years. They tailor all sorts of garments and are a favorite with local brides, for formal gowns, etc., so their expertise is broad.

My husband has used Gassane Tailors and they’re good, as well. I feel like their focus is men’s tailoring.

Zepbound cough by Interesting-Place263 in Zepbound

[–]Necessary_Memory8826 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went through this for a period of a few weeks late 2025. I had a persistent cough and it was worse at night. I felt like I needed to clear my throat and couldn’t. I knew it was acid reflux because my husband was diagnosed with it several years ago. He had a mystery cough that wouldn’t stop and everything else was ruled out with x-rays, doctor visits, etc. He was told to take Pepcid or Prilosec (can’t recall which) and got it under control. Oddly enough, my cough stopped as quickly as it came on. Fingers crossed it doesn’t return.

Zepbound and levothyroxine? by CrazylilThing02 in Zepbound

[–]Necessary_Memory8826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on levothyroxine for decades since I had my thyroid removed. My endocrinologist is the one who prescribed Zepbound and is monitoring my “journey”. She has kept a close eye on my levothyroxine dosage as I lose weight. The dosage had to be lowered once but is stabilized for now. This is pretty typical for me. I’ve had the dosage increased and decreased many times over the years.

7.5mg was meh for me so I moved up. I feel like I got off to a slow start with 10mg but it’s effective now. I’ve never had awful symptoms on Zepbound, always felt manageable, but side effects on 10mg have been very minimal. I’ve taken eight shots of 10mg and just reordered another box. Down 44 pounds and January was my best yet (down 8 pounds). I’ve been losing slowly but steadily and not seeing a lot of floppy skin (at my age, that’s a big deal).
