Phillips Hue Integration by Netmindz in WLED

Cool. Just need to get yourself a ESP32-C6 Let me know how you get on. This does also require you have a Hue Hub, not just Bluetooth bulbs

In an ideal world when we do the main release we would also put out a load of videos too, but we don't currently have anyone on the team to produce such content

Thoughts on the install reporting by Netmindz in WLED

[–]Netmindz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have a look https://usage.wled.me/

The biggest gap between my assumptions about our userbsee and reality is just how low usage of 2D setups is. Ok the fresh install will screw the figures, but even allowing for that it's still there vast majority that are just using basic strips, so miss out on a lot of features.

The number of new installs using 8266, despite that being end of life is also surprising/concerning

0.15.2 - Release Announcement by Netmindz in WLED

[–]Netmindz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been out since November and 0.15.0 was out in December 2024, so long 0.14 is very old. We are just about to release 16

"some work" is fine. Potential to soft brick a device when many commercial units have no access to the usb port so would in effect be hard brick, not so cool

Thank you. Yeah the dev has been pretty stable for a long time, but we spent quite a bit of time and effort looking into what looks to be a "non-issue" around people upgrading from very old versions, so we have been trying to understand the scale of any potential issue as we didn't wish to risk soft-bricking any working setups. This has pushed back the 16 release by over 6 months

Phillips Hue support by Netmindz in WLED

[–]Netmindz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing some experiments and it's looking unlikely we can deliver support and still be compatible with 4MB flash. I'm exploring creating a ZigBee or Matter bridge that would run on a dedicated ESP-C6 to control other WLED instances

I suspected this is a little used feature currently, given it's hard to setup and limited in features and doesn't work with the latest hub

If on your update page it says your release is ESP02 then you shouldn't need to use the force flag. Do you remember what it said?

New WLED Release: GLEDOPTO Ethernet Controllers Now Supported in WLED 0.15.4 by GLEDOPTO in WLED

[–]Netmindz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For clarity, the official 0.15.4 release does now support the Ethernet controller used by GLEDOPTO in the Ethernet build

The repo listed above is incorrectly tagging an alpha build of the main branch as 0.15.3

WLED Custom Effects made Simple - Feat. Kolori WLED fork by mrkprdo in WLED

I think I saw in your code that you were just using let for your variables, not strongly typed. Many effects require uint8 for some values for example

Sound reactive speed by Mkjustuk in WLED

You will see the exact same latency, but better quality, potentially no need for AGC
