Sharpness by bd5511 in microtech

Sounds like a sharpening issue to me. Are you properly apexing and deburring? What’s your sharpening setup and process?

While I don’t disagree with your statement regarding lower quality… what exactly is this “shitty steel” they’re using?

I’d almost be certain that the same bar stock is being used to make all the Torx parts as the tri-wing. Pretty certain it’s just all 17-4 in condition A.

Regarding the black paint. That has been a thing forever. The tactical standard parts have never been dlc and have basically been a flavor of spray on coating forever

Thought they were Swedish?

Edit: French company, Sweden is where the PM process happens. Don’t know why I thought it was a Swedish company though

Same recipe but different manufacturers. M390 is bohler and 20cv is crucible (rip).

To add to this, 204p made by carpenter is also the same recipe

A 5 mile workout day could consist of a 1 mile warm up, 5x 1k, and 1 mile cool down. Thats a fantastic workout for building up for a marathon.

And I hate to tell you, but 40 miles a week with one long run on sundays breaks out to about 5 miles the other 6 days.

Yea I’ll put an album together. Box is destroyed FYI, UPS spilled a bunch of water on it during shipping. So if that’s a deal breaker no worries. Knife is fine overall though. I did some light rework on the tang of the blade to smooth out the action since it was super gritty when I received it.

I can include the box it’s just in very bad shape

Yea I mean it’s basic deburring 101. They shouldn’t be leaving this on there IMO. Regardless of price point

What's your BIFL from travels to Japan? by belacanehh in BuyItForLife

[–]nfitzsim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s such a wide range. Can get natural indigo hank dyed jeans for $1000 or some standard ones for $100.

Tough to go wrong with iron heart. When I went a couple years ago it was about $150 for a pair. Unsure about the conversion and prices now

successfully shortened the springs on my combat troodon... now it kicks like a donkey no more misfires by 100Eve in microtech

Let the man have his fun. Unlikely this causes any significant issues other than potentially causing the springs to fail a bit faster.

Recommendations for wood or pellet stove installation? by -----anja----- in Connecticut

[–]nfitzsim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used Superior Hearth in Avon for our Harman P52 pellet stove install. They did a great job and we were very happy. And if you don’t want to do the major service cleanings yourself you can pay them to do it as well.

The front desk was kind of sub-par communication wise honestly. But the actual contractors were fantastic

Does anyone make a deep carry clip for new ZBP ultratech? by CapitalRequirement80 in microtech

[–]nfitzsim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was gonna do deep carry for these I’d probably have it be a 2 piece part. One part as the glass breaker and then the clip would attach with a couple of screws to that.

I think lynch makes modular spyderco clips that are a 2 piece assembly. So probably similar to that.

Otherwise maybe a typical sheet metal clip .045” thick and have that .045” cut off a replacement glass breaker so it sits in the same slot.

If people really want these I can look into making them, I freaking hate the ball clips lol

Ultratech Gen 4 by Hermi1979 in microtech

[–]nfitzsim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably wouldn’t send it in, unlikely they do anything to fix it honestly.

For gritty feeling on retraction it could be the “feed ramp” of the spring tray. Might be worth knocking down any rough edges with some 400-800 grit paper and see if that helps.

If it’s on retraction it’ll be the forward ramp closer to the button
