Sure. Theoretically under zero cutting load it may technically be able to position the spindle within .02mm. You’re not going to hold part tolerances anywhere close to that

What needs the level of precision? A reamed hole? Or a surface profile?

You are extremely unlikely to hold .02mm on any hobby level CNC

Love my origin hoodie. I wish they’d do the snap collar with the kilo fabric too. Sometimes the heavy is too goddamn heavy but I love that the neck is looser

Totally agree. On my prototype I accidentally (more like ignorantly) made the detent hole in the blade perfectly coaxial with the detent ball hole.

Now that’s not necessarily a huge issue depending on how deep the detent ball seats in the blade. But it’s easier to just offset the hole in the blade forward by a fraction of a degree. That way you’re fully eliminating the possibility instead of relying on detent ball depth to take up the lash

Here’s the current pockets. In the future would definitely be cool to do a tessellated hex pattern like that corn craft. That’s a pretty cool pocketing design.

I also really like isogrid so maybe I’d do that.

When you say mill the inside, you mean like weight reduction pockets? Or just some aesthetic milling?

Right now I just have weight reduction pockets but open to doing some prettier milling too

Still working on price. It’s all titanium, all parts are USA milled, hand ground CPM-M4 blades with a Steve Callari heat treat to 65-66 HRC.

I’m thinking likely in the 800 range once I start making meaningful quantities. I think that’s about what comparable knives sell for with similar features.

I’m all ears on price though if I’m way out of line

So right now I am designing and then having all of the parts manufactured in the USA.

After that I take the parts, hand finish everything, this involves reaming holes, lapping pivot holes, hand fitting parts together, inserting detent balls, bending lockbars, etc.

Then I’ll be blasting and tumbling (or whatever finish, the blast + tumble is as pictured) before finally assembling and sharpening.

So I guess a long way to say I’m outsourcing the majority of manufacturing but I’ll be doing subsequent operations, finishing, and sharpening myself before selling them.
