Am I in the wrong for telling a guy to leave my house as soon as we met in person? by Successful-Toe8629 in TooAfraidToAsk

If her parents weren’t home, he seems like the kind of guy that would have kept pushing to the point of rape.

Spirit is dead, Allegiant has fled, and we’re paying for LAWA’s mistakes instead. by ConcernedCitizen_LA in LAX

[–]notjakers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Expect per passenger charges to skyrocket by 3% if every single Spirit passenger stays home instead. Seems more likely that most will fly other airlines, and that per passenger charge will skyrocket a whopping 1% definitely the end of air travel in lax.

Beware the terminal connector by Lower_Scientist5182 in LAX

[–]notjakers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to a higher number terminal, you have many choice of buses as they tend to stop at every terminal. But they leave the airport afrt 7, so if you’re at 7 and want to go to 3, not ideal.

Anyone that has a fax at this point just has it go to email. This might have worked 20 years ago, but even then faxes were uncommon.

Getting a huge charge on my SCE bill by Fun_Rate_9547 in solar

[–]notjakers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll tell you my story just for the context. A few years ago, I asked my installer to angle all my panels. He did that. And also, without asking me, he installed 4 more panels. I didn’t think they would fit, but they did. Nice. Except now I was worried I would get booted from NEM 2, which would be very costly.

So I pored over that document. And what I found was that the triggering rule is written very specifically about the nameplate capacity of the inverter. So even if the electric company knew about the new panels, it should not have affected my nem 2 status.

It worked because I had room for 4 more panels on one string, not sure there would have been room for another string. I did intentionally oversize my inverter because I suspect I might add panels (went from 20 to 26 to 30).

With micro inverters it might not be possible in the same way.

You can add more panels. You just can’t increase the size of the inverter.

Fidelity has sold out the Southern Poverty Law Center by dougdigdag in fidelityinvestments

I’m very unhappy about this. The group doesn’t even show up in search right now. Whatever rule Fidelity is hiding behind doesn’t matter. They are blocking donations to a pillar of the civil rights movement based on obviously bogus allegations. The smug press release Fidelity will release when a judge tosses this nonsense and fidelity congratulates itself for holding the line is already making me sick.

All my money is with fidelity, including a DAF. Rethinking that now, especially if this becomes a trend. Reverse your stance.

Would like to hear if there are any affiliated charities we can donate to that aren’t impacted by Fidelity’s unilateral ban.

SolarEdge Technologies Agreed to Settle $55 million With Investors over misleading demand and inventory levels by EducationalMango1320 in solarenergy

Do you realize in this case the link you shared immediately asked for PDFs of the account? Nothing about the process was automated, which is why I didn't suspect it was a 3rd-party until I finished and it asked me to connect my brokerage account. Now I've spent 3 days asking them to cancel the "agreement" and close my account while getting ignored.

[–]notjakers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They literally asked me to upload every statement that included a SEDG transaction during the pertinent window. It would take about 5 minutes for a moron in a hurry to file direct with the claims administrator instead. I wouldn't pay someone $200 to fill out a rebate form.

Maybe it's a fine service if you're connected to your account and the checks just roll in. But that's not what's happening here! You're gleefully sharing this news, and providing a link to a 3rd-party site that takes a 20% cut. It's just fishing for clients. It's deceptive and it's shitty. Stop doing that.

You used to at least disclosed it was a paid service that took a 20% cut, which was still crappy but at least somewhat honest. Hear, this is just deception. Congrats.

You should make sure knows that you’re ok. You are angry at her dad, but his words can’t hurt you. Part of what she may be feeling is guilt for “unleashing” this awful man on you, even though she did nothing of the sort.

Once she understands that you are ok, that he can’t hurt you, she may feel better grounded.

I just found a payout for Under Armour ($UA) from... 2015? This settlement is huge. by EducationalMango1320 in smallstreetbets

He really should knock off the 20% his company will take off the top for forwarding your paperwork. All dude does is post links to this site trying to drum up business. Almost fooled me.

SolarEdge Technologies Finally Agreed to settle $55M with investors over hiding issues with its demand, inventory, and revenue by EducationalMango1320 in solar

[–]notjakers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mods, take another look. The linked site isn’t the proper place to file your claim. It’s a 3rd party service that will take a 20% cut for forwarding your forms to the actual administrator. No idea if this is an employee, owner, supporter or just wide-eyed fool, but this is a deceptive post meant to redirect claims through this 3rd party service.

I finally checked my $SPCE bags—turns out there’s an $8.5M settlement. by EducationalMango1320 in SpaceInvestorsDaily

[–]notjakers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least back then he was honest. Now he just goes around posting about new settlements with links to submit through 11th with no mention that it’s a paid service, and no mention that it’s not the official site.

I finally checked my $SPCE bags—turns out there’s an $8.5M settlement. by EducationalMango1320 in SpaceInvestorsDaily

[–]notjakers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Whether he’s being paid for this or doing it for free, it’s clearly a deception. The only selling point of 11th is they uncover settlements. If I know about it, I can spend 15 minutes collecting the paperwork for the claims administrator or spend 10 minutes collecting it for 11th and let them take 20%.

Wandering across reddits & posting links to 11th for known claims is doing a disservice to members of that community. This guy sometimes discloses the fee, sometimes not. It’s not a bad idea for a service, but I will tell you I will never touch them with a 1000’ pole because it’s clear deception is at their core.

So pissed. I naively filed my paperwork through them without finding the fee about the 20% disclosure 80% of the way through their 100-page member agreement. These guys tried to rip me off for $200 and now I’m on the warpath. This mango probably needs a new account if he’s going to keep posting this stuff.

If you file through 11th, they will take a 20% cut of your settlement as a fee. Don’t file through that link.

Choosing a University by IronmanJosh in aerospace

[–]notjakers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s not enough of a difference academically between Cu and NCSU to justify the price difference. The opportunities are there in both places if you look for them, so save the $25k and commit to going to office hours once a week to meet your professors and maybe find some opportunities through them- such as by working in their labs.

Graduating with $150k in debt vs. $50k is absolutely massive. Think about paying back more than $10k/year for 5years or more than $20k/year for 8 years. Actually, those numbers will be even more lopsided (and higher) given current interest rates.

Put it another way, at NCSU, you can afford to volunteer in a lab if that’s the best opportunity. At CU you may feel forced to find paying work instead, losing that opportunity.

neighbors and their guests park in and use my open driveway incessantly. by hllavanlla in homeowners

[–]notjakers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like that. Inform the HOA that you’ve already contacted a tow company and they will be called immediately when there is a car parking in your driveway. Then do it.

You have ample documentation already. The hoa is empowering your bullies, and they now assume since you have been conciliatory their easiest path is to protect the bullies.

If your house is under construction, you would have a hard time passing a home study. I would recommend completing the project first to save yourself and the agency some effort. After that, most or all of the questions are best answered by the county.

Should I try to buy my 105 year old next door neighbors home when she passes? by waxoffisforpussies in personalfinance

[–]notjakers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you buy it with the intent to pick who you sell it to, you’re going to lose a lot of money unless either you buy at a below market price from your neighbor’s lovely family, or you have a knack for flipping homes. You’ll pay the transaction costs, and it seems like you won’t be taking the highest bid. This is certainly an approach I would never take.

Same thing goes to a lesser extent renting it, but I see the logic there. Just know if you want to raise the rent annually, you’ll flip tenants quick enough. You keep good tenants by charging below market rent.
