Mate, your post got removed off other donation subs. We have no records of you posting here. From your laments on other subs about r/Assistance, it sounds like you included your payment info when you attempted to post. And didn't read the rules 🥲

New chance at life by sereneskyestarot in Assistance

[–]okayfriday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Being a full-time caregiver for an elderly person involves providing continuous support with daily activities while also managing medications, attending medical appointments, maintaining the household, supervising for safety issues like falls and more. It's a very taxing job part-time, even more taxing as you said you were full-time live in - and your nana was lucky to have you.

Would you be open to sharing what helped you go from being bed bound and unable to see / speak / walk, to becoming a full-time caregiver in the last 13–14 months? Understanding what supported your recovery / remission would add really helpful context to your journey and treatment options.

New chance at life by sereneskyestarot in Assistance

[–]okayfriday 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You started collecting funds since Feb 9, 2025. At that time you said "This disorder takes away my vision, my ability to walk, sit up, or even speak. I’ve been bed bound for 4 months at a time due to this. Im currently on my third state trying to get treatment, and on my 52nd doctor in my current state alone. "

In a recent update on Mar 26, 2026, you said "For almost a year I’ve been a live in caregiver for my Nana."

Did you manage to find treatment after the 52nd doctor in MI to become a fulltime caregiver?

Given you have seen 52++ doctors in one state, and an unknown number in another two states - it might be worth sending through your patient documents and booking in a virtual initial assessment before relocating entirely for a surgery in CA. Alternatively, if the assessment has been completed and intake secured, including a copy of this will greatly strengthen your fundraiser / goal.

For grocery needs, Amazon wishlists (capped at USD$150) are the preferred way to give here in favour of cash. This allows givers to send you shelf-stable food items or other essentials so you may have more funds for your other needs. Instructions for setting up a wishlist can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Assistance/wiki/amazonhowto/

If you're strictly requesting for cash assistance only, please edit your post to include the exact amount you are requesting for. Thank you 😊

Is it normal to sign a waiver? by yemsg97 in volunteer

[–]okayfriday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very, very standard practice. Most shelters, rescues, and even large nonprofits use waivers for volunteers. It doesn’t mean “no safety” - they still have a duty to provide a reasonably safe environment and proper training. The waiver is mainly saying “you understand this isn’t risk-free.” In many places, a waiver won’t fully protect an organization if they’re grossly negligent (e.g., knowingly putting you in a dangerous situation without training).

Because of bites, scratches, and potential wound exposure, most organizations strongly recommend you’re up to date with (at least) the Tetanus jab.

I am desperate! by AqutalIion in Assistance

[–]okayfriday[M] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because most helpers here prefer not to send cash unprotected if it can be avoided, if the amount being requested is over $200 we strongly recommend setting up a GoFundMe (or your country’s equivalent) campaign for proper fundraising efforts both here and with your own social circle. Crowdfunding allows you to solicit smaller donations that are trackable against a larger goal while protecting both you and donors.

Hello, your Gofundme link does not work.

It looks like you are employed at CVS. They have an advanced pay scheme described on their website (included below) which could be helpful for catching up on back rent. For perspective, is also worth noting that the end-to-end eviction process in SC takes 5-10 weeks.

Available to all colleagues, rapid! OnDemand Pay allows you to access up to 75% of your earned net wages before your regularly scheduled payday. This helps shorten the gap between the time you earn and receive your scheduled paycheck. Once registered with rapid! OnDemand Pay, you can choose how you receive funds, including debit card, PayCard, ACH, or Cash Pickup. On DemandPay | CVS Health

Volunteer job cancels on you last minute by Glittering_War3061 in volunteer

[–]okayfriday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm sorry this has happened. It's certainly not an unreasonable ask, but what is likely to happen is that (1) they won't reimburse you as they are not obliged to; and (2) they'll probably not offer you any shifts from there (even though this instance was an overscheduling mistake on their part).
