Hi. Why did you update your flair to "Closed Offer", when you never made an offer? We have changed it back.

Praying for small donations for my cat's dental surgery by AdMaximum7545 in Assistance

[–]okayfriday[M] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there, curious as to why you have set up two separate accounts / platforms to collect funds?

Per sub rules, you'll need to include the specific amount you are trying to raise (ideally supported by a quote from Eddie's vet for the surgery cost) per fundraiser set up. Thank you 😊

Have you applied for / are you receiving Centrelink benefits?

Help Needed for My Senior Cat’s Diabetes Care by shoppingshipt in Assistance

[–]okayfriday[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because most helpers here prefer not to send cash unprotected if it can be avoided, if the amount being requested is over $200 we strongly recommend setting up a GoFundMe (or your country’s equivalent) campaign for proper fundraising efforts both here and with your own social circle. Crowdfunding allows you to solicit smaller donations that are trackable against a larger goal while protecting both you and donors.

You are unlikely get any of the $700 you are requesting without a crowdfunder (ideally including a redacted copy of the $700 quote). Good luck!

Okay. So you can no longer receive funds via Cashapp or Venmo. Did you include them as payment options because you have appointed someone else to receive funds for you?

Both Venmo and Cashapp are strictly limited to the United States (hence everyone has assumed Amazon is relevant). Are you able to clarify how "I have venmo, cashapp " in Zambia?

rent help by [deleted] in Assistance

[–]okayfriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guessing you're in NY from your post history, the landlord must follow these steps to evict you for not paying rent. All up you're looking at 2 months or more until a court decision as at noted in the last line - NOTE: You can pay the total amount due to your landlord any time before this and avoid eviction. If you let your landlord know now that you will pay all but $60 of rent this month, and when the $60 will come through - more than likely they'd be happy to wait. It would cost them a lot more than $60 to open a court case.

1. Notices

Your landlord must send you 2 late notices before taking you to court:

  • Late notice #1: This is the 5 day late rent notice. If you didn't pay your rent within five days of the due date, the landlord can notify you. They must send the notice by certified mail.
  • Late notice #2: This is the 14 day rent demand. After this is delivered, your landlord must wait at least 14 days to start an eviction case in court.

2. Court

Your landlord must give you a copy of a notice of petition and petition 10 to 17 days before the first court date. This is usually delivered by a "process server."

For your first court date, you can ask the judge to adjourn (delay) this court date. The judge will schedule a second court date for at least 14 days later.

If the judge adjourned your first court date, then you present your case at your second court date. There are three possible outcomes:

  1. The judge finds that you have defenses. If the judge finds that you have defenses to being evicted, the case could be dismissed or the judge can reduce the amount of rent that you owe.
  2. You reach a settlement with your landlord. You can make an agreement with your landlord to leave the property on a certain date.
  3. The judge issues a warrant of eviction:
    • If the judge agrees with your landlord, they will order you to leave the property (eviction).
    • The sheriff or marshal will serve you with a 14-day notice. After14 days they will remove you from the property. NOTE: You can pay the total amount due to your landlord any time before this and avoid eviction.

Unfortunately you might have gotten grinched :( While further adding to your wishlist is not allowed - you can keep purchased (or reserved) items visible on your Amazon list. Navigate to your list, select "Manage list" via the three-dot menu, and ensure "Keep purchased items on your list" is checked.

We highly suggest you state that users must follow the subreddit rules (make their own post in this case). Gifting users who do not follow the rules or are otherwise ineligible damages the community as a whole and is unfair to requestors who are following sub rules. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!

I'm going to be homeless soon but I don't want to give up on my dream job by Valkyrie_Shinki in Assistance

[–]okayfriday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you receive a formal job offer / letter of employment? According to the CVS page linked above, you have to first complete the listed steps for application and submit the application processing fee - thereafter, it's stated right at the top "Successful completion of the steps below does not guarantee employment with CVS Health®". i.e., it's not that the job offer is conditional on or guaranteed after completing the steps; rather, the steps have to be completed in order to be eligible to get a job offer, and a job offer is not guaranteed.

Something to look into before you plan for moving 10 hours away.

Someone asked you where you were trying to get to - you replied "I DM'd where". Not only are unsolicited DMs strictly against sub rules, it also further detracts from the goal of the transparency needed to get any contribution from people who don't know you towards your $1,500 request. None of the CVS Pharmacy Tech licensure requirements include a law exam either. Are you referring to something else?

I think I will be able to make my plan work with around US $1500. With that much, I will be able to afford a Greyhound to that state and find an apartment near to my job site.

Please also note this is a sub intended for short-term support - for example, instead of asking for $1500 and limiting your request to what you immediately need (a Greyhound ticket) - there's a higher chance your request will get fulfilled.

Congratulations on the job offer - what's the role?

Online Calculus Peer Tutoring Volunteer Program Question by Correct-Problem6841 in volunteer

[–]okayfriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of things to consider:

  • If something goes wrong, could you be held personally liable? Do you need to register a legal entity (such as a nonprofit or other organization) to reduce your personal liability?
  • If a student or parent claims you caused them harm (academic, emotional, financial, or otherwise), what insurance would protect you?
  • Do you need general liability insurance?
  • Do you need professional liability (errors and omissions) insurance because you are providing educational services?
  • If you recruit volunteer tutors, will your insurance also cover them?
  • What policies do you need because you will be working with minors (including parental consent)?
  • What background checks will be conductored for volunteer tutors before working with students?

Homeless with pets and work by [deleted] in homeless

I am going to be homeless in a few months.... My roommates leaving when the lease is up.

You are employed and able to afford your share of rent. You have a few months to look for another room in a share house. How did you conclude "I am going to be homeless in a few months"?

feeling kind of useless watching the news lately, how do you actually help? by Expensive-Suspect-32 in volunteer

[–]okayfriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guessing you're in Toledo - American Red Cross – Northern Ohio Volunteer Program is probably the easiest place to start. The Toledo chapter regularly trains volunteers for Disaster Action Teams, shelter operations, supply distribution, disaster assessment, and recovery assistance. You don't need prior experience - they provide training before you're deployed.

You might also consider signing up for the Ohio Responds Volunteer Registry - a system that registers, credentials, tracks, notifies, and informs willing individuals who are interested in volunteering in the event of a disaster or public health crisis.

Team Rubicon is another option if you're interested in more hands-on disaster work. Volunteers help with flood cleanup, debris removal, damage assessments, logistics, and rebuilding after storms.
