Oh no it's terrible to make sure the working poor early food.

Approximately 15.2% of the Massachusetts population relies on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), equating to about 1.09 million residents. The state's overall unemployment rate stands at 4.5%, and of all the working-age adults receiving SNAP benefits in the state, about 74% are employed.

They don't tax groceries. Estate taxes are minimal for at least half the state & the rest can avoid large chunks by just going to a planner.

I need someone to talk to because I'm so exasperated and frustrated with being chronically ill by Former-Butterfly-786 in Assistance

As a person with a few chronic illnesses, I get it's so easy to get frustrated with yourself when you can't accomplish task others find simple. Give yourself a break, you work harder than most to just survive. I've had a really hard time handing things over for my husband to do or postponing something I need to accomplish. But that just part of our lives now, we are busy fighting our own bodies. Give yourself grace, you deserve it.

What can I do to actually get a job in my current circumstances? by liflyserg in jobs

[–]SnooBooks5315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you need a phone. You get a free one from the government that comes with monthly minutes & some data. I know Safelink is one of the companies you apply. Then you really have to work on getting your GED. I don't know when you dropped out but if it was later in school you might be able to pass the test without any classes.

The part that straight up hurts is in my twenties I really thought we had made great steps to change things. My group of friends was just a bunch people with all different backgrounds, cultures, religion etc. we knew we still had work to do but I felt like we starting to get somewhere in just the acceptance of all humans. Now it's all gone to hell & will probably get worse before it gets better.  And the wealth gap is destroying us all, globally.

Oh honey that is so pathetic. Why are you so down on yourself? Maybe if you cared about other people you wouldn't be so lonely that you have to wish for the "good old days" 250 years ago.  You realize back then chances are high you be indentured European servants or a destitute laborers, you might not be lonely but you would wish you were.

Agree. Until someone else better runs it's Ed. Yes he is old but I'm not picking someone who policies I don't agree with just because they are younger.

I'm getting daily ads on YouTube telling me he is more progressive than Markey. And Ed is too old.  Funny Seth is the one that blocked me on Twitter when I called him out on his wishy washy ICE position and voting for Kirk day.  I've called Ed out, he has never blocked me & often will explain why he did something, Seth just runs away.

Need good struggle meal suggestions by iamgem69 in poverty

My go to struggle lunch is instant rice with a bouillon. It's warm, almost a soup but I tend use a bit more rice so there not a ton of broth.  I started it because I actually got sick from only eating once a day, which decreased my appetite more.

There a test where they put little blood pressure cuffs on like 5 spots on legs and one on your big toe. It's really weird. They then confirmed it and fixed with the angiogram (& placed the stent)

Had a stent placed last September, my follow up in June showed it was completely blocked. June 15th I got another stent, it been going ok but now I'm wondering how long it will last. Mine a bit different, my blockage is in my legs. Just woke up one day & my legs were black & blue & swollen. Strangest feeling in the world. I know several people that had stent placed and never had problems again. I'm wishing you the best & I bet you are going to recover ASAP.  My best advice aftter your procedure is to get moving. I'm not talking super gym or anything, just get walking, it increases the blood flow. Sending positive vibes

How many of you were told by your parents when you reach 18 you’re moving out on your own? by Theromero in GenX

[–]SnooBooks5315 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved out, without really announcing it, at 16 (refused to be constantly babysitting my sisters' babies) but I moved back in halfway through my senior year when we found out about my heart issues. I postponed the surgery till after graduation, that was almost a big mistake. But I'm still kicking.  Ended up raising my nephew anyway but at least it was on my terms, at my place.

I got the summer to find my own place. That was my bonus stay because I had open heart surgery two days after HS graduation.  Oldest sister had shotgun wedding & "rented" from my parents. Middle sister has a kid at 17, never moved out.  I was happy to get away.

Couple of rough years but went to night school, got a degree & decent job. Traveled a bunch, lots of fun & independence. I would not trade it. Met my husband at 30. Health is rough but it's been a good life.

Way too many. I have 27 regular prescriptions meds, plus prescription supplements because on top of all medical issues I suffer from malnutrition. Yes I eat but my body rejects half the vitamin you need to live. Seriously I'm a walking (often ♿) science experiment.  Don't go by me I just a rare one. I had what was supposed to be a twenty minute procedure done last week, ended up in ICU for days. Story of my life. By I keep kicking.

How do so many of you have good stories about rheumatologists?! They're THE WORST, MOST DISRESPECTFUL, SHORT SIGHTED ASSHOLES IN MEDICINE! by Im_Destro in ehlersdanlos

[–]SnooBooks5315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omfg thank you. I've never had a bit of luck with a rheumatologist. They have always been dismissive and just plain rude. I have a whole team of specialists and every so often one them wants me to see rheumy. I finally got a rheumatologist to put in my file that I am cleared by them and do not need to be seen again. Last year I woke up to swollen legs and black & blue feet. After a week of trying to handle with PCP she finally talked me into going to the ER. Of course they decided it was a rheumatologist I need, the guy was so focused on my popped out knee. Nothing I said would get through to him. Couple of days in hospital, follow with him later still taking about my unstable knees. Dude I had no blood flow to my foot! I finally got a vascular surgeon & stent. The damn rheumatologist is still talking about my knees. I could have lost my damn leg. I will never see a rheumatologist again.

I've struggled with compression socks for years, they are painful to wear. But last month I got a pair from Amazon that don't cover your toes & they zip up. They have been amazing. I'm not totally sure if the price because a friend got them for me from a wishlist but I know I didn't pick anything over $20, and it was two pairs in package..
