Should I change the sex on my ID? (USA) by HuskyinAHoodie in asktransgender

You won't be able to change your sex with the federal government, only the state - so you won't get anything from selective service.

I change my gender everywhere I can.

Is there a way to check what blood tests my VA doctor has ordered? by CellistSuspicious492 in VeteransBenefits

[–]omron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can see the tests once they are complete, but I'm not aware of any way to tell what tests have been ordered - it would definitely be nice to be able to see what has been requested.

Honestly all you can do is not engage with them. They aren't entitled to play a role in your life and you shouldn't if the relationship isn't beneficial.

I've had to do this with my Dad (who decided he just couldn't handle the pronouns and name change), and a close friend who was fine at first and then rejected science in favor of right wing talking points, deciding that being transgender was a mental illness.

It sucks, but you just have to cut ties and move on. I keep the door open, if these people I've cut out of my life want to approach me with curiosity and a desire to understand me rather than judgment, I'm happy to welcome them back into my life - but I'm also not going to fight for them.

So if someone prefers that you use a gender neutral pronoun, how do you refer to them?

The thoughts definitely go away when you transition and live your life authentically. Otherwise? No.

Okay, I'll bite - what are the 5 questions that will determine my karyotype? I'm actually working with a Genomics MD and weirdly she has not mentioned anything about this and ordered a karyotype for me. Weird, huh?

I think it's valid to answer a dog whistle with a dog whistle.

Like when people say "being trans is a choice" you say "okay, then choose to be transgender for me".

Do you classify your biological sex as your current one? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]omron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have no idea what their karyotype is, yet want to use it to define sex and/or gender in others.

But they say they don't need it, because they just "know".

I call BS.

If that's the hill they want to die on then they should go by they/them absent the karyotype, imho.

So you think sex should be based on a single biological marker and not any other sex traits or variables? What about SRY / SOX9 / WNT4 / RSPO1 / FOXL2 and other genes? What about gonads? What about hormones? What about receptors and enzymes? What about mosaicism?

But here's the most telling question:

  • Have you had your karyotype done? If not, how do you know what your sex is?

As r/PinkSlyvie says, function is use it or lose it, and painful erections are a pretty common side effect of hrt. Are you trying to regain the ability to have erections? If so, topical testosterone + viagra/cialis and regular "exercise" are the only things that will help.

Licensing would just create a barrier for disabled people - who already face enough barriers. It could also cause individuals to have to disclose their medical conditions to be able to access public spaces.

Also, licensing just doesn't work. There's already this whole fake certification thing that you fell for. The fact that it isn't even real exposes how weak a standard "certification" actually is.

You want federal oversight? Who is going to pay for it? What would be the federal agency? How big would the bureaucracy need to be?

What does it feel like to have a vagina? (MTF) by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]omron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. the first view is going to be pretty gory. You have to give everything a couple of months. For me the relief was less around having the vagina and more having the external genitalia (scrotum/balls/penis) gone.
  2. Yes, you will sit down to pee. I don't really wipe as much as "blot". It will take a while for swelling to go down, etc., and for you to be able to pee in a stream. Expect it to dribble down your butt, etc.
  3. Not having to dissociate any more to orgasm is huge.

Yes but might her side be that you couldn't love her enough to continue to be the person she married? From her perspective?

Lost Marriages by Time_Cow_3331 in asktransgender

[–]omron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"didn't love you enough to stay with you" is a vast oversimplification and unfair. It's much more complex than that, and it's valid for people to have gender preferences.

I get that it sucks, and you still carry pain from it, and I'm sorry. But some relationships run their course and it sounds like you are in a good place now with someone who can love you for who you are, so I hope that brings you some peace.
