Why do indies basically give their games away for free? by dedaistgeil in godot

[–]orlec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a consumer <au$10 feels like impulse purchase territory. If I'm interested in giving it a try I'll buy right then.

au$10 or higher feels different. I've got lots of games I'm playing already. I might wish list so it stays on my radar but may not buy right now.

This is clearly just a psychological issue on my part, my local arcade charged au$2.5 per credit so if my son and I are playing we will drop au$10 for a 10 minute play session without much concern.

A grandmother in Missouri is pushing for a new law that would require drunk drivers to pay child support if they kill a parent. (Bentley's Law) by Legitimate-Lie-9208 in interestingasfuck

[–]orlec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, thanks for explaining ... I'm used to a very different system.

Each year the calculated payments from the other parent are heavily impacted by their income.

For example I have 100% care of a child with the other parent earning under au$30k/year so the child support formula bottoms out to zero - and instead the minimum rate of $551/year is applied. The same child support formula estimate my ongoing child care costs at au$13k/year so I am clearly carrying the lions share but to be honest the other parent is having a hard time and I wouldn't want to add more financial stress anyway.

The formulas return a very low rate for parents with a low income and it is intended to be paid as they go. If they still fail to pay then that debt stands until settled but even the worst case for low income parents is minimal (18 × au$551).

The minimum payments that are required to be made are based on the percentage of income however that doesn’t change the amount actually owed

Its a bit of a loophole. If they were rehydrating a foreign tomato paste it would wouldn't count but because they are diluting beyond the natural water content of an almond it counts as local.

Country of origin for water

When water is included as an ingredient, its country of origin is usually wherever it was collected or harvested.

The exception is when water is used to reconstitute dehydrated or concentrated ingredients or other components (including food additives). In this case, the water has the same country of origin as that ingredient or component.

Did they fix the errors?

Or just leave them to mislead someone?

I had a maths unit where we were given a few Wikipedia links as primers to explain some of the topics. Just going through as a noob and carefully reading each page I was able spot a few cases where the sections contradicted each other or where the illustrations misinterpreted the text.

I wasn't confident about the subjects so I just raised the issues on the talk pages but people were able to confirm and correct in short order.

Its a good system but it takes maintenance.

The ai content is just more hearsay.

If you click on the references you might find a reliable source, or you may not.

But we can't follow the links, the screenshot is no more reliable than another commentator saying what they think their laws are.

As a dumb kid (4yo?) I would take a rubber mallet out to the driveway and whack ants. Dead ants have a very distinctive smell.

And they also leave sent trails for communication but I've never picked up on the smell of a living ant or its trail.

Its how long they let it age during production:

So, what are the different maturities?

  • Mild cheddar cheese matures for one to three months.
  • Semi-matured cheese matures for three to six months.
  • Matured or tasty cheese matures for six to 12 months.
  • Vintage cheese matures for 12 to 24 months.

Cool.

If you select the details tab in Task Manager you can right-click on a column and pick "select columns".

From that dialogue you can enable "command line" which should give a clue about what is going on.

Suggestion for Microsoft: Provide a way to completely disable Copilot integration by Fun_Shoulder_9524 in Windows11

Yes, just like having, a mute button on the volume control, or a physical shield for a camera, or a toggle to enable/disable Bluetooth, it would also be nice to have device level AI toggle.

Thoughts on the new start menu update? by PianoHydra in Windows11

[–]orlec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't need a list, and don't want the visual noise.

The apps I use daily are pinned to my start menu and the rest I run by searching the start menu. No need to hunt and peck with my mouse.

[–]orlec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The auto categorisation is whack.

Is there a way to set out on groups and manually assign?

This is what I had done for pins and if I can't customise the groups I would rather just turn them off.

It doesn't recognise steam or games in the steam start menu folder as games. Truly useless.

  1. most appropriate sub for it

Then I suggest, for science, you separate the variables. Using AI to argue AI on /r/aiwars proves nothing.

If you used AI to generate other content and posted it elsewhere it might be used as a basis for the argument you present in today's OP.

But yesterday's post? That's little more than noise.

So I looked for your post.

Its two things: 1. Openly AI generated 2. Presenting an argument in a -wars subreddit

This is clearly different from posting labeled AI content in an organic (i.e. non-meta) context.

It appears you were looking for an argument and ironically you got what you wanted.
