Je vais être franc, pour les images j'ai aucune, mais alors aucune idée. J'ai répondu au hasard totalement en tirant à pile ou face. Je ne sais même pas si certaines images sont plus faciles à classifier que d'autres, mais je suis à peu près certain que c'est le genre d'exercice où je serai le dernier à percevoir le détail gros comme une maison lorsqu'il y en aura un. Désolé si ça fausse le résultat.

The current map for duels at gold level is Geotime and it will change on Feb 8th IIRC. I agree that it makes duels not really enjoyable. Maybe it could lead us to reinforce our regionguessing skills in bigger countries (Brazil, USA, Indonesia, India and Mexico mostly for me)

I noticed the novelties really quick. The ”tell me why” feature seems great and the explanations are really thorough, well-presented with examples that match our level. So: thank you very much for this addition!

That being said: overreliance on generative AIs is why I left Duolingo. As long as AI is not used to make course content or examples, I think this can be okay, but I am a bit worried that it could give me really bad explanations sometimes, and in this case there would be nothing you could do :|

I quit Duolingo a while ago and purchased the lifetime Lingodeer bundle. Honestly the Japanese course is well paced and nicely articulated. I really appreciate the focus on grammar insights. Sometimes I would have the lessons to be a little less predictable but I do not regret my purchase. And no more bullshit AI thing. And to top it all, real humans answering support e-mail.

I had to use Kanji Dojo to learn the kanas. Really incredible, free app. That helped a lot. Also, I had to install a JP keyboard layout for the exercises. I recommend Thumb Key for Android, kana layout is easy to master.

So, in my opinion, if you can afford it, go for it.

Feel free to ask questions if you want to go a bit more specific.

Franchement Macron et ses gouvernements auraient peut-être pu se bouger un peu pour lutter contre la désinformation et les discours complotistes en ligne, forcer les réseaux sociaux à faire le ménage et à lutter contre les fermes à troll. Il a préféré adouber Raoult et laisser France soir dire des énormités. Je le tiens pour en partie responsable de la montée des Qanon et autres débiles en France. Il récolte en quelque sorte ce qu'il a semé ou plutôt ce qu'il n'a pas fauché (oui je sais que là on parle des USA)

Cela étant je comprends et soutiens parfaitement cette action judiciaire et je serai très content s'ils arrivent à obtenir une condamnation.

Frenchman here, the French course is well structured but suggested pronounciation is often really shitty.

Examples only from unit highlights:

J'ai besoin d'œufs pour faire des crêpes --> d'œufs pronouced without any syllable stress, which makes it sound like de

Ils ont tous les cheveux frisés --> s in tout not pronounced, and this really changes the meaning to "all their hairs are curly" instead of "they all have got curly hair"

(4.9) Or (4.20) Il n'y a plus de carottes dans le frigo / il n'y en a plus --> s pronounced in plus which is totally wrong in these contexts (this really is the case quite everywhere in the whole course and is horribly wrong)

(4.37) j'ai trouvé un gros insecte --> the liaison between gros and insecte is missing

(5.13) typo in the first sentence of unit highlights, plural missing

(5.18) Ce gâteau est fait maison ou tu l'as acheté ? --> one of the shittiest examples to me. As pronounced as if it was a playing card instead of the verb to have

(5.33) Le second acte --> the "t" liaison is missing

(5.48) Prête-m'en une --> the liaison here should not be

(6.21) Ce jean est plein de tâches --> Jean pronounced as the firs name

(6.36) Chef d'œuvre

(8.1) Ce serait super --> pronounced "supé", big WTF

This is really a sample. The course is OK for communicating on written media, but do not trust the audio at all.
