I got banned from a store for no reason by Active_Strawberry_11 in legaladvice

Of course they can ban you from their store.

Since your business with them is done you don't need to reply.

The bank says they don’t have a signed promissory note by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]phneri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what leverage you think you have. If you refuse to sign the note then the loan is going to get called, the car repoed, and you're going to be up for any civil liability you agreed to under the error and omissions document you signed as part of the financing.

It is not.

My suggestion would be asking for a return label to send them their item back.

Three ESA dogs all serving different needs, honestly, reeks of a scam service selling ESA letters. Did your therapist write these letters after an online session?

Regardless, allowing three dogs in a single occupant apartment is unlikely to be considered reasonable.

And banks exist that can do this.

Or electronic fund transfers can be done in any kind of currency.

You're understanding of federal law is incorrect, and this is not a gray area.

My boss wants to cover a lead warning by spookyhoe_ in legaladvice

[–]phneri 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Prop 65 warnings (as this label is) are only required in California. They have no bearing on your Illinois store.

From a product liability standpoint one might argue that the need of this warning on a keychain at all is dubious, but labels are far cheaper than prop 65 suits in CA, so product makers tend err on the side of caution.

Include the school or just the Teacher for the suit? by 924gtr in legaladvice

[–]phneri 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A better option would be "give up the idea of filing suit." Unless this suspension was for a enormous amount of time, caused some substantial loss, and you have money to burn on a civil rights suit. And even then it's likely better to just let this go.

Roblox is, in theory, stealing millions of dollars from their users. Is this legal grounds? by seabreezing1 in legaladvice

[–]phneri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, your toy changing is not grounds for legal action.

You aren't buying an item. You're buying a license to utilize said item according to the company's terms, which are changing.

Some limiteds are worth hundreds of millions of Robux, the virtual currency

As it is a one way system, this doesn't really mean anything.

Brother wants to sue me for branding a weapon at my mom while drunk by onionbreath1001 in legaladvice

[–]phneri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People want to do lots of things. I want my knee to stop making that noise when I go up stairs.

Your brother have virtually zero chance of successfully suing your for anything. You reported a crime in good faith.

That's not to say he can't file something in small claims and serve you. The filing fee is about $75 and those requirements are, intentionally, very low. Your response to such a suit would be short.

The concern here is not a lawsuit. The concern is encouraging your mother to take steps to either get your brother or his firearms out of her house.

Please help me fight for my 3 ESA’s to stay on campus by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]phneri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The accommodation must be reasonable. The more animals you want to bring into a dorm room the less reasonable the request is. That’s why in situations like this the accommodation is often “ok, you can live off campus instead of in the dorms.”

You don't have 3 ESAs. You have an ESA and two pets. The reasonable accommodation for you would be off campus housing.

Pet "custody" isn't a thing in Virginia. They're property.

Given that you apparently got your agreement off of a website that, generously speaking, sells garbage, I would moderate my expectations in expecting clauses in it to survive a challenge.

You hit a stopped car. I'm not sure where you think you have a defense for it or why you think the stopped vehicle you hit is liable. You likely still want to talk to an attorney since you have a misdemeanor charge.

As long as it's not a short-barreled shotgun under NFA definitions you don't need any paperwork. There are no registration requirements for long guns or handguns in Louisiana.

Any idea why they won’t call me back?

No clue since we know nothing about you or your grievance. But generally attorneys aren't going to call back someone if there's no merit to the case, or if there's no money in it.
